  • One of my Moms favorite songs! renee

  • Raw Talent, without all the fancies of the digital studio! I believe in the gifted before the bells and whistles are attached!

  • Well most of you wont believe this but I am a decent cousin to the great country music singer Loretta Lynn I love you cousin and god bless ,,, justin patrick gutierrez

  • @blackunicorn9000 Well, if so, at least you are a decent cousin, and not an inappropriate one. ;)

  • Loretta is the best! Great voice realy realy sad, she isn`t more under us!!! The voice will never die!! A BIG "Hello" up to the sky!!

  • @tommygerm She's still alive

  • A true rags to riches story

  • Love me some LORETTA.

  • she had 2 rooms and a path those days

  • this song is sooo gooddd....im learning it to sing at my grandmothers restuarant!!!!

  • xOxOke

Be proud of her, this was one of my late mums songs

She was the daughter of a coal miner, and had a hard life, and im so proud of her

Just remember to Be a testament to her

And grow up to be magnificent, make her proud of you

  • @ theBonbunny I'm related to Loretta too what I your name and do you and your folks come the the family reunions

  • My Grandma grew up dirt poor in Dante,VA. She passed away in May 2010, but every month or so I end up at the song because it was her favorite. She lived a full life, and passed away at 83. I luckily got to say goodbye, but I miss her so much. I wanted her to be here so bad to see me get married, graduate college, and have kids (I'm only 21), but I know she's will be here in spirit. Rest in peace sweet angel.

  • @WoodWorkingAce Don't you say that about Loretta!

  • I'm related to Lorretta.. she doesnt know me though... she's my grandpa's cousin... i wish my family and i could meet her

  • the song makes everyone who came from humble beginnings proud. She is an american treasure

  • Love this song. It's very special because she wrote about her life and it all came from the heart.

  • She has such a nice voice! Love this song!!

  • This song is gay to fuck u if your reading this

  • @Kush2push

I am indeed reading this, and it is... when your dad was a waster... like yours :)

  • @Kush2push arsehole

  • How can you not love Loretta Lynn?

  • this one Classy woman!!

  • Wtf. ? people are so stupid commenting their shit on this vid. Stfu and enjoy the fucking music.

  • #1 country hit the day I was born. Giddy Up! :)

  • Real music keep it up,solid country gold.

  • Great song, I love LORETTA LYNN.

  • DAMN she sings the SHIT outta this song, you GO Miss Loretta.. but, wow, lemme get some sunglasses 'cause that gaudy green dress is hurting my eyes LOL! LOVE YOU Miss Loretta !

  • When I first heard Sissy Spacek sing this song it touched me so much that I cried. However, I'm sad to say Loretta Lynn's version does nothing for me. I know the song belongs to her and is her story but Sissy's version elited deeper emotion in me.

  • i wonder if Don Blankenship's daughter likes this song.

  • beautiful in every way

  • She makes KY proud :)

  • they don"t writem" like that anymore

  • Yes ma'am .

  • I love Loretta, her life and her music. I don't think there is a better American Song

  • Simply one of the greatest country singers - wow!

  • This was the first movie i ever seen at at a drive in i went with my aunt and uncle i think i was about 8 or 9

  • Country musics first radical.

  • i love this song

  • Just might be the greenest dress I ever saw! Reminds me of Lawrence Welk and his entire crew back in the seventies. Of course there was one big difference with Loretta Lynn - the kind of great country music from Kentucky that Lawrence could barely come close to!

  • loretta is my favorite singer i am a15 yr old girl frome barvourville kentucky

  • This video just makes me tingle... I was working at a movie theater when the movie first came out. The movie was sold out and people were actually pushing to get in! What a great story!

  • my last name is WEBB and to put her down is to put myself down. i love you Loretta Lynn/Webb you are an inspiration to us all that love good music. The best songs are the ones written from life not bullshit.

  • LOVE HER SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

  • ALL LORETTA FANS STAND UP FOR HER AND WHAT SHE DOES AND HAS DONE... DONT LET ANYONE PUT HER DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrLorettafan I AGREE WITH YOU

  • You don't get songs like this anymore

  • this is def my daddys song he wasnt a coal miner he was a roofer n we werent rich but he made sure we had shoes at school time n clothes on our back n food on the table n i do remember oh so well my momma washing clothes on a wash board n never complaining

  • taylor shit....

  • Loretta is my favorite singer, and i'm a 13 year old boy from Sweden. :D

  • @Jruus1 I found out about her when I was 12. Lived in Estonia.

  • @countryFTW1988 Cool! I think it's great that she have fans from all over the world. Too bad that she isn't so famous in Sweden. :)

  • @Jruus1 She introduced country music to me. I didn't like it before, but now I do.

I also like Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton, but Loretta is way better than them.

What are your favourite songs by Loretta? I'd say all of them. "Deep As Your Pocket" is a really fine song. :)

And yeah. She wasn't famous in Estonia either. Her famous moments are in the 70's.

I guess Europe just doesn't understand country music :/

I live in Minnesota atm. She is quite popular here. They even play her music on radio!

  • @countryFTW1988 Yes Loretta is the best! It's hard to choose any favourite songs but Fist City,You're lookin at country and Coal miner's daughter are som nice songs.

It's great that you can watch a lot off clips when she performed on the "Wilburn brother show" here on youtube :)

I read on Loretta's website that she are goona release 3 (!) new album's :D Do you know anything about them?

  • @Jruus1 Indeed ;o Sadly, Doyle and Teddy are dead. And thanks to kkiilljjooy for these uploads. I like when she sang with Dolly and Tammy too. But still. Loretta was THE BEST :D

  • @Jruus1 I agree with you! I'm 1/2 Danish and I've loved her since I saw her movie when I was 13. It is an amazing story. You should see the movie!

  • @fantastic7heaven Oh I have the movie and it's GREAT!! :) You're 1/2 Danish, in wich country do you live? :)

  • @Jruus1 Have you seen the movie?

  • @MrDarkmarius Yes i've got it on dvd :)

  • @Jruus1 Listen here, all you country music lovers giving this 13 year old Swedish boy thumbs up: Sweden is a LIBERAL country with socialized medicine and equal rights for gay people, and an extremely low crime rate. It's also a country where a thirteen year old can read and write English, his second language (or maybe third) better than many twenty year olds in America. I don't know that I, as an American, can support a monarchy, but everything else seems to be working for them. Why not us?

  • @nauort23 Hello Naurt23. Yes English is my second lanuage (Spanish is my third). But I don't get what you wan't to say that sweden is doing well and not America?

And we have Monarchy like king, queen and whatever but they don't have power over sweden it's the politicans.

  • @nauort23 And btw what do that have to do about that I love Loretta?? :)

  • What aver happened to people that can sing, and be understood?

  • Lorretta Lynn, the best! She was always so innocent and country on stage.. I just love it!

  • get over yourselves people just because bieber, taylor swift or whoever doesnt sound like this doesnt mean shit, there are people who like them and thats all good, cant control everyone just because you dont enjoy their stuff

  • @Popo2191 You are stupid for sayin tht you can NOT beat Loretta Lynn if it wasnt for her tht bitch Taylor Swift wouldnt be here so ha she owes her a lot

  • @MrLorettafan what does my comment have to do about her owing anyone, im just saying if you dont like their music, dont listen to it. you dont have to run her/them down in the process.

  • @Popo2191 All I am saying is tht if it was not for Loretta paving the way for the women singers they wouldnt be singing the music they do today she mad it possible for taylor swift, reba, dolly, all them women to be singing there music and almost all the the country women of today will tell you they owe it all to Loretta

  • @MrLorettafan Popo, anyone could say the same thing about your Mother, but that would be RUDE !! We're all thankful to someone for helping us get here or there !! No need to be rude !!

  • Great song but in reality that life she's singing about sucked

  • Look past the 'doo - it's Michele Bachmann! How come nobody sings like this anymore?

  • I think I will go to Butcher Holler, KY to see her plantation home!

  • People forget that despite Loretta's incredibly unique singing voice much like her sister's equally unique sing voice (Crystal Gale), Loretta owes a huge dept to the highly talented musicians that were instrumental in her success.

  • I'd like to see Taylor Swift do a song with 2 key changes in it...........THIS IS WHAT A FEMALE COUNTRY ARTIST SHOULD BE RIGHT HERE.

  • @southernsportsman424 Hell I'd like to see her do a song and sound good without the help of auto tune.

  • I first heard this after I watched "Loretta Lynn's Haunted Plantation" on Travel Channel when I was seven. I loved it to death, but the first thing I told my mom was, "She said borned." :-/ I'm a bit of a grammar freak. I got over it and I still love this song! Beautifully written and even more beautifully sung. Oh Loretta, <3 :)

  • A beautiful singer and a beautiful woman. i would have loved to meet Doo (her husband), her daddy and her mommy. I have been reading her autobiography and they sound like great people.

  • what a lady women today should try and be such a woman

i am a woman wish we all were

  • GHOST ADVENTURES brought me here :)

  • Ladies and Gentlemen:

I give you the Van Lear Rose! The pride of Johnson County, Kentucky. A proud part of the great Commonwealth of Kentucky's contribution to Country Music. Thank you Miss Loretta for so many years of fine music and for keeping the country music tradition of our beautiful Bluegrass alive for all to hear.

  • A great song is a great song

  • @Jussyd25 true, what an episode that was! i think zak had a crush on a certain someone

  • Sorry, 6 children.

  • fuck feminism.

  • @knightschwartz She isn't a feminist. She had 4 children and was grandma at age 29. She got married at age 13.

  • @countryFTW1988 i know she isn't.

  • @knightschwartz Oki then.

  • She stands perfectly still during the whole song, but I'm completely mesmerized!

  • im 19 and i grew up on this stuff my dad and me used to go out in his 1990 ford f150 with the cassetes blaring i just love coming on youtube and digging out ol times! thanks

  • I love this song so very much my mom sister and I have sang it countless nights and even made up diff. versions :) Love it!

  • It's so sad song :'(

  • This was back when female singers didn't need autotune.

  • Dear Lorretta, I know u will probably nerver ever see this but I love ur music!!!!! I have said for years that all I ever wanted for Christmas or my birthday is to meat u and to say hello and shake ur hand. Coal Miners daughter has been my favorite song for years. • @simpson2221 lol. i think getting dirty will be the least of my worries!

  • Nobody can ever replace Loretta Lynn and the way she told the story the way it was!! She is true COUNTRY!!

  • true country from the frist lady of country

  • I wonder if this is from 1975? Because there was something big about green dresses that year. Tammy, Loretta and Dolly all had an amazing green dress that year.

  • @BeBitched86 i actually think this is in 1971 or 1970 but this was on the Wilburn Brothers Show and she left the show in 1971.

  • The awesome thing about this song is it strikes a perfect tone. Captures the poverty without self-pity. Captures the love and pride without being defiant or defensive about growing up poor. Loretta always did a perfect job conveying emotion in just the right way in the songs she wrote herself....
