I am so glad in our state that animal cruelty is now a felony. This stuff makes me sick. People who can treat animals this way usually treat other humans the same.
They walk right by not seeing the misery or suffering.
We have greyhound rescue here too, and they make lovely pets- there was no reason whatsoever for whomever this was to have 28 animals unless they were previously racing the dogs themselves - I would hope no one kept giving dogs to them :(
My God - what was wrong with this guy? He couldn't see the dogs were starving, covered in ticks. My heart is breaking - I do hope he is punished and not just a slap on the hand.
These dogs were seized from some "person" in Ft. Worth on Thursday. We were told the greyhounds were in wood crates stacked on top of each other at the end of a shed, and the other mixes were just in this guy's backyard. They plan to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
As we tried to de-tick the dogs our group (Greyhound Adoption League of Texas) was able to pull, all the dogs amazingly sat completely still. Most happily greet us with wagging tails. Makes it all worth while!
Watched the videos. Still crying.

You all are truly angels! If GALT took 9 and GU took 8, do you know what happened to the 11 remaining hounds, for a total of 28?
