  • isn`t morrison

  • no manzareck listen

  • he´s morrison

  • close to 11 peoples

  • Love vocal at the end.

  • Go..Go...Gogogogogoooooo!!!!!!!

  • Man this is a great tune.

Any1 else notice that in the right (or wrong) lighting, Ray's chin looks like Peter Griffins chin?

0:27 totally made my day x'D

  • weeell Ray has a great voice!

  • Damn, he sounds great!

  • du du dum ... du du dum .... grande Manzarek...

  • yeaaaaah... very good

  • Ray rocks this song!!!!

  • Jagger VS Ray ????

  • This video makes me feel alright.

  • Great!

  • Ray should still be the lead singer, not that other guy.

  • @archy9752 You mean Jim Morrison one of the most influential figures in rock history?

  • @ZenMaster1992 I'm talking about the Manzarek–Krieger band, they are a bad that plays songs by The Doors.

Two of the members are Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, yet neither one of them sing in it, except for baking vocals when necessary. They have that other guy, Dave Brock, on lead vocals.

  • @archy9752 You call Jim "that other guy"? He is a legend and nothing or no one can ever compare to him.

  • Comment removed

  • Who's the one singing?

  • @MostBluntd Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist,

  • SHIT!! I think I love Ray!

  • Ray is quite the pro, he's as bad ass as Jim.

  • I never really understood why Jim never sang this song. I've heard him doing back up vocals, maybe Ray just really like singing this one. He's a fuckin great musician. Amazing. Some people probably don't realize how hard it is to play keyboard, bass, and vocals at the same time. Tried it, sucked at it.

  • That is because it is RAY MANZAREK singing this one. It is off the DOORS LIVE at PHILADELPHIA. His vocal is respectable and considering he is playing keyboards, the melody and bass line, it is quite remarkable...but then RAY is a great keyboard player, and really the METER of the BAND. MAKE HIM FEEL ALRIGHT.....LOVE HIM SO MUCH.....ed

  • @emcaraccioli no, its a recording from NY, january 18, 1970

Look " The Doors - Live In New York (Felt Forum)" Disc 6

  • You know I love the video ...I mean it's GREAT ... But honestly speaking ...That, almost sounds like GREG ALLMAN and the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND

  • @SkinSplitter1 SO??????

  • great song and perfect personification of white blues.

  • Ray voice is fucking awesome man. Long live Rock and Roll!

  • The coolest mother fucker who wears glasses ever

  • ich denke er war der coolste hunde der doors....

  • I wish they would have included Jim's intro to this song

  • you rock MANZARECK....PHONE ME AND WELL HAVE A PLAY...L!!!

  • the doors, probably the best band ever to walk the face of the earth

  • @MrBG1514 *the doors are the best band ever to walk the face of the earth.

  • 7 people are close to Lady GaGa.

  • @dirtysickeuropeans and now there is 9 gaga gogo dejects close to her..................when will they learn..........better build that time machine and save the world

  • where I can dowload this song? I want it so bad..

  • I thought it was Mick at first too because the Stones can rock to some good blues as well but so can the Doors! This is just a great rocking song.

  • I saw The Doors in Lisbon (some 3 years ago), and asked several times for "Close to You", but Ray wasn´t in the mood.... However, in my point of view it is (together with "Universal Mind" the 2 best vocal interpretations from "absolutelly live"

  • blues is so easy to listen

  • looooove Manzarek

  • sounds like mick jagger

  • he's very good, but in his songs is no darkness. That I miss.

  • @Sekler007 yeah its the dark stuff I like about the doors. This sounds more like canned heat : P

  • How can someone play the organ, sing AND have such epic sideburns?

  • @TheSeldomSeenDude Hahahaha

  • Jim is my GOD but i seee now Ray was a very very talented person and a massive much needed piece of the doors history!!!!!

  • Happy Birthday Ray!

  • This is not the DOORS. Ask this guy who Bill Loyer is.

  • @JLizard this is the doors in fact it's on the doors album "absolutely live", but I think it is probably a cover, but yes Ray Manzarek is singing lead vocals.

  • now Jim I freakin' love you man but Ray got this song down!

  • Comment removed

  • UNO DE LOS MEJORES COVERS DE INTERPRETADO POR THE DOORS.... BRILLANTE, UN TRIBUTO AL GRAN WILLIE DIXON, UNO DE LOS TANTOS PADRES DEL ROCK................ NUNCA PUEDE FALTAR UN BLUES....NUNCA

  • @0:30

ray looks like john lennon !

  • ray belts out a mean song!!!!!!

  • @19timus1 its still the doors its just Jim is not present

  • @BarrioPunkRock this was recorded on the absolutely live album, and jim WAS present!!!! i've been a doors fan for 26 years, check out my channel...CHEERS!!!

  • @19timus1 really ??? wow

  • @BarrioPunkRock Jim morrison himself wasnt the whole band... he was really just 1/4 of the band....

  • @YooDIsJA If you don't realize how stupid your statement is, you know nothing about the band.

This here? It's just a... 'pretty good job'.

  • @PrZemek44 ur so stupid

jim morrison and the whole band had a part in the band

  • @YooDIsJA Based on? Your opinion? And what do you know? About ANY music from the time your parents were playing in a sandbox? I don't know shit about rap so I'm not making moronic comments there. Wish you'd do the same...

  • no es su letra :P

  • did you know that ray did some preliminary recordings with iggy pop? yeh! true! iggy was living part time with rays publicity manager danny sugerman, and going thru one of his transgender phases and LOTS of heroine, and ray was gonna try making an album and tour with iggy. but iggy got too stoned and went a little crazy. poor iggy! ha ha

  • @gnowave im guessing you have read WONDERLAND AVENUE?

  • @gnowave

wonderland avenue? is that the name of the danny sugerman book? ha ha, its funny as. especially those iggy moments. and its honest too. great stuff huh?

  • ray looow key sounds like mick jagger here ........ idk but he does

  • hes really good!(:

  • Ray used to sing in a band with his brothers before he joined the doors.

  • love this song ray is awesome

  • 0:28 DR. HOUSE with long hair ????

  • what a talented guy, movie maker, organist, singer, whoa!

  • ...and you make me feel alright!!!!!

  • manzarek was in his own way Hot!!

i have the hots for him and im only 18 haha

  • Comment removed

  • this group came and went back to heaven!

  • The Doors 4ever.. <3

  • ray rocks !!!!

  • its good, but the Doors are missing that psychedellic aspect that was theirs and Morrisons trademark. Without Morrison it sounds like a generic rock band without that aura of being great.

  • Manzarek is better as a keyboardist in my opinion

  • :D

    (I want to get)

Close to you like black on white,

Close to you like the coldest of ice,

Close to you like a siamese twin,

Close to you like I'm feeling all right!!!

  • he lives a tenth of a mile from me and im a keyboardist

  • @AakwardAardvark Luckyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Ask to jam with him sometime man!

  • @AakwardAardvark mind telling me where you live lmao!!

  • @bluefromanairplane Napa california

  • OMG! He's so exelent.

  • ray has an amazing voice i play the keyboard and he is my inspiration

  • great job Ray! Love ya & God bless!

  • Ohmygod this is mind fuck. I love Ray, I'm like the only girl in the universe who thinks he is talented (DUH) but super super HAWT!!

  • @heioo1 not the only one. I think he's talented, good looking, smart, and one hell of a multi-tasker. I mean, 2 types of piano and singing at the same time! He's a very talented musician (no doubting that) and many people see that in him. Like, you and me. And I definetly agree about him being as you call it "HAWT".

  • One of my favorite songs EVER!

GREAT cover by the greatest band EVER! :)

  • i sorta wish Ray had sang more than he did with the Doors. i mean, Jim was awesome, yes, but it would've been cool to hear Ray more with the 'classic' Doors sound.

  • SmittyBaGitty: Yes he is (a great singer) and I absolutely love his keyboards!.. Add Robby's perfect guitar and some of his lyrics, all of it topped with John's inciting drum-works and we have a great combo! ... There's no denying that Jim's voice and charisma is unique, of course, but I agree with Ray when he says: "The best would be if the best bands were also recognized", our time is way too obsessed with image etc.. On that note we've gotten exactly what the Doors were against.

  • muddy waters song...

doors have taken many songs from old blues artists:

    howling wolf (backdoor man)

    waters...

songs that now are completely buried.

  • @1eburdon2 Willie Dixon wrote this and many more classic blues songs recorded by white bands of the 60's

  • im sorry but the doors are weird without jim singing.. not saying ray isnt good but it just isnt the same.

  • IS JIM FROM CALI?

  • @PUBSHAMROCKS yuppies Jim Morrision is from LA, CALI.

  • @PUBSHAMROCKS born in Florida, but moved to CA pretty early-on.

  • Imagine if this guy had a prehensile tail, too -- they wouldn't need a drummer.

  • "No Jim, no Doors! "

  • ray still frigin rocked. was too good at the keyboard.

  • Holy shit, I had no idea Ray is such a good singer. How ignorant of me. Awesome blues voice!

  • @1eburdon2 he did when jimbo was drunk out his mind or couldnt be found

  • @1eburdon2 muddy waters wrote it

  • @bradscribner Close but Willie Dixon wrote it.. Muddy recorded it with Willie on bass.....

  • The instrumentals are still great but nobody always will replace Jim.His voice was really special and just wonderful.ray's is nothing compared with jim's voice but he's a perfect organist though.

  • @Luesjen Uhm, they played this song in a lot of shows. Jim was doing the background vocals. So, there was no need to replace Jim because he was actually there too. Ray had more this Chicago Blues background and in the pre-doors time he was a blues shouter with his band Rick and the Ravens. Both of them were very different but still great bluessingers, so I don't really get the problem. Why do we have to compare Jim with other people all the time?

  • @KofGT calm down :D There's is no problem, all I meant to say was that for me jim's voice is the better one,and that ray should have kept playing the organ.

For me the anger in your comment is useless.

  • @Luesjen Yes, this makes sense. I read a lot of those useless conversations and they're a bit annoying.

  • @KofGT of course! :D

  • @KofGT I agree.

  • ohhhh great!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ray Manzarek is the best of the organist's

the best of the all times

The psychedelic sound of the doors

He is all The doors Jim not

  • at 13 seconds, he looks like Jim for the show office

  • Just amazing!

  • Theres a version of this on the Matrix tapes where Ray sings different, like more of a rock-ish, higher pitched voice, good version, but not as good as this one. Anyone know where I can find a tutorial? Or at least the chords of this song?

  • close to ya baby like waters wettt !

  • 99 never heard this song before but the song fits Ray really nice, Ray should do more of this aggressive blues stuff *****, 99

  • Ray is a fuckin great singer!!

  • @SmittyBaGitty

As much as I love Jim I wish Ray sang more tunes

When The Music's Over was originally recorded with Ray on lead vocals...that woulda been way cool!

  • Great make out song :L

  • Rays voice is ssssoooo bluesy

  • I love the doors... «portugal»

  • fuck you man he trys at least if it wasnt for him tere prob wouldnt be the doors

  • @esteban578 I know I was listening to this and some girl at my school walked up and was like "wow he sucks at singing" I just looked up at her and, pardon my french, went "At least he has fucking balls to get up there and sing, unlike those stupid fucking rappers who just use autotune"

  • Absolutely Live, and they got one version on Live in Philidelphia too, Actually theres a version on alot of Doors Live albums, but I think this one is the best.

  • ray is a top guy man they all are and i love listening to my live bootleg that this is off its rare and limited haha i cou nt myself lucky.the doors forever

  • bass on left hand... keyboard on the right... and singing!

    now, that's an artist :-)

  • @fishenelmar Whenever I try to do all three at once, my hands just start like leaping up and down, so I just stick to Keyboard and singing :P

  • @fishenelmar actually, the studio version has a real bass player, on live shows ray played the bass lines. I actually haven't seen any live versions of this song but it sure must have him playing all that ;)

  • @SharpmyPencil this is a live version

  • No, Jim was at this Concert, he introduced that Ray was going to be singing this piece, if you listen closely, its Jim singing the background vocals. The intro is called "Tonight You're In for a special Treat" And Jim states that they only do it on full moons, last time grown men began to weep and policemen turned in their badges because of this song. This is also on The Doors live in Philidelphia, another Version, if I'm not mistaken.

  • Boy, have you got that wrong. In the introduction, the crowd roars when Morrison refers to Ray's present turn at the mic as a "special treat". They assume he's referring to, and Jim Morrison then jokes about, his arrest for indecent exposure in 1969. The reason that men were crying and cops were quitting was because they were so humiliated, implied Morrison (by the dimensions of his spotlighted manhood).

  • Oooohhh, aha. Thanks, Oh I get it (No, not tat one, you only get that one on full moons) Thanks man :D. Still thats awesome.

  • oh Alright, I get it now (Thats why he says No, Not that one) Ahh, It all makes sense now :P! Thanks man for the help

  • ^ "the dimensions of his spotlighted manhood"

that is the funniest shit I've read all day - not saying that its not true, but still ... I applaud thee - 8D

Long Live Jim Morrison, the philisophical lizard king and poetic sexual shaman!!!!

  • Morrison told friends that the reason he did it was "to see how it looked in the spotlight" ("No One Here Gets Out Alive",1979).

  • i love it ... if anyone deserved to have his cock in the limelight, its Jim

  • Comment removed

  • Ray is my favorite:)

  • No one like Jim..

  • That is not Jim!That singing Ray...Jim drink beer :)lol

  • RattusNorvegicus67, How are you going to make fun of someone and mess up in your own comment? No? I think you meant NOW. Dick! MR. MOJO RISON

  • Yes I know that it's Mr. Mojo Risin

  • Morrison said:

    a Master of art...

    it´s true

  • fucking damn great!!

  • ray manzareck yeeeaahhhh ¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • hey, he was the brains behind the doors wasnt he? the greatest keyboard player of all time! ray manzarek.

  • mmm

    man

    i love the doors ^_^

  • RIP the lizard king, and I agree i think all 4 members of the Doors were important in there own way. add me to friends if u like the doors

  • Hey how about this go buy Rays book, learn more about The Doors. Dont just go by what most people have seen in the movie. The books are much better.

  • you're an ignorant fucking twit

  • twit haha be a bit more ignorant than that my sides are splittin hoho

  • you're are an incomprehencable moron, the first comment you posted didnt even make any sense at all, who is "the man" and what is " am sure" wtf learn how to fucking spell before you try and look like a hardass on youtube.

  • learn how 2 spell ? i think the way you spell incomprehencable is slightly wrong you crypto sporridium muncher. no fuck off back under the rock you crawled out from...

  • Ok, like i'm gonna go to google and spell check every fucking word? You are the king dimwit here, you are an obvious sober douche bag.

  • No matter what you say none of your comments even made any sense? What are you trying to say? If you are on the side of Jim and Ray just 'being' the doors. Then you must be music-retarded, it takes everyone in the band to produce a sound, an image, and persona of that particular band. Now sir will you please crawl back in your cum stained water bed comforter with your overweight grotesque wife and nestle your face in her mildew ridden Cunt.
