@bill1224601 Glad to see you're as coherent as ever, bill. Oh, and a happy batshit crazy new year to you, too. You really aren't going to like my response to your 48-minute new years babble.
@SmilingSkeptic well yes sure a sheep like your self will come right out and try and trun truth around and lie and make a ass out of them self ones again why would i not thank that you would not want to be knowen as a dumb ass you love being knowen as one of the worlds bigest dumb down sheep oh and also knowen as some one who cant be belived must be fun being knowen as a lier
To legalize or at least 'decriminalize' prostitution would effectively take the control of it out of the hands of the pimps. Prostitution has been part of every society throughout human history, the bottom line is that its already proven its not going to go away, so any rational society must deal with that fact, I had no animosity to sex workers prior to cryptqueen's video, but I was still deeply moved by her openness and honesty on the subject.
I find it odd that at this stage in history, we aren't further along in this debate. Those who want to keep prostitution illegal for the "protection of women" need to explain to me how a sex-worker in a legal Nevada brothel, with medical care and security, is worse off than a terrified one in NYC, who fears the police and pimps by turns.
Legalize prostitution, severely penalize ALL forms of human trafficking (AKA slavery) and stop pretending they are always one and the same.
Thank you so much for this video and your support. I would like to state that the most active voices for sex worker's rights on youtube are FeministWhore and YeOldeHeretic. Please find and sub to them.
The tubers you mention I'm subbed too and love what they do, but neither of them worked in the illegal sex industry and both report their experiences in the legal aspect of the industry to be positive. So I do think a distinction should be made between the legal and illegal aspects of the work. I'm afraid it's going to be difficult to make any real progress on the later until prostitution is legal. I'm not saying nothing can be done in the meantime, but that has to be goal number one.
@SmilingSkeptic The laws are still the cause of many of the problems there. "Pimping" or what should be known as an "employer" if prostitution is legal, is illegal, so are brothels or common bawdy-houses. Those are two big obstacles to becoming a normal business.
@SmilingSkeptic It's an odd situation here, though, because while the sex work itself is legal, those who oppose it have managed to make nearly everything associated with that sex work illegal, like having a place of business with a bed, or advertising, or operating within certain areas, etc. Thus it's extremely hard to conduct this perfectly legal work in a safe way.
@WilliamPbrane Well, maybe you should talk to feministwhore or xxxild or any other number who have worked in the "illegal" sex industry. Yeoldeheretic could also help you out a little from the Canadian perspective.
@WilliamPbrane in canada sex for money is not illegal, but almost everything surrounding it IS, making it quazi-criminal in this country (canada). so i currently work illegally out of my home and i can be charged with a number of different crimes surrounding prostitution (myself and my channel partner laurel have made lots of videos on this subject, if you have an interest, check them out.)
Either I'm too stupid and didn't get it, or you came up with an extremely stupid argument that only because of religion people see prostitution as bad, or immoral, or shameful...
@grozde I don't have enough evidence to say whether or not you're stupid, but I probably didn't help by putting this video out with the assumption that my viewers are up to speed with the Heather / Div / cryptqueen conversation. The video was a quick script that dealt with what happens when people listen and learn, instead of spewing ill-informed crap. I think I'll update the video description to include links to the relevant videos. That may help.
Great video. Unfortunately, after reading some tweets from ZJ, I am certain s/he won't give two shits about what you or any sex workers are saying. ZJ is convinced that the ones who do speak out are coming from a privileged place and are not truly representative of the majority of sex workers. It's sad, but ZJ has broken this bridge. The ignorance hurts my brain.
The truely sad thing is, that even if ZJ is right about the privaledged sexworkers, it still doesn't help the underprivaledged part of the sextrade to criminalize it. Be it drug addiction or other hardship that drive some women to prostitution.. the the fact that the criminal justice system is punative rather than focused on rehabillitation only adds to the missery of those underprivaleged sexworkers she wants to protect.
I agree. Less condemning, and more listening and learning.
Thank you for speaking on this, i hope more will take time to think about the issues involved.

"I find that immoral, so instead of refusing to participate in that behavior I will do everything in my power to dominate and punish those who do."
got to love that mentality.

@WilliamPbrane That argument becomes much easier if you live in Canada, as I do, where sex work is legal.
