  • I HATE THIS, A DAMN STRAW KINKED AND I HAVE TO START AGAIN!!!!!!!! I HATE EPOXY!!!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN THIS CRAP TO HELLLLL!!!!! But once it works correctly it works really well. BUT THIS PARTICULAR DAMN PROJECT TROLLED ME!!!!!

  • @Vim281 Do I detect a note of frustration? You're right, it's difficult, but worth the time and tears. How many people do you know who made their own steam engine?

  • @sciencetoymaker It's worth it, but sometimes it just trolls me!

  • can i skip this part??

  • @sharlenehott If you can get the angle right, yes.

  • Honey Puffs XD

  • Would jb weld work? Instead of epoxy

  • @MrJuicer88 JB Weld IS epoxy. It's a brand.

  • I love that calm voice...

  • Would it still work if you dont bend it?

  • @TheChickeneer As I was designing the engine, at one point it was straight straws, no bend. It can work like that, but when you prime it with water the engine completely fills with water. At first that sounds good for a steam engine, but actually it runs better with drops of water that can flash to steam quickly. Once you get one that works, experiment and see what you come up with.

  • can i use a peice of alumimnum fiol for motor respond

  • @sharkbaitoaa I dunno if you have tried it yet or not, but no foil will probably not work. It's so thin it would probably rip before you got done building, if it didn't rip it might work.

  • @forrest225 yeah i made one out of a big peice of rockstar can like is was about six inches long and i only get to pop but really loud pops

  • ya i did like what you say mostly and my first steam engine work.i use birth day candle and it have very big flame so the engine start faster

  • can you use elmer's glue?

  • @pabloalejandro99 Not unless you can make it waterproof somehow.

  • U really sound like my English teacher :D

  • @jimuel0829 Hot glue does not work on the aluminum because it gets so hot (the glue would melt.). It can be used everywhere else

  • @JellyBear7 For the angle tool, yes.

  • @sciencetoymaker can i use glue gun as substitute to the glue you used in your video?

  • is crazy glues good?

  • @LOLPRODUCTIONS111 One person reported that using super glue to hold and silicone to seal worked. However, I encourage people to follow directions exactly the first time, then experiment after you have one that works.

  • you can't use hot glue instead of epoxy i tried ... 5 min ago it fails. and it melts when/if you heat it up (make the engine working) DON'T USE HOT GULE!

  • can you use hot glue instead of epoxy

  • @robotuti You will use hot glue for making the straw bends stiff. However, you cannot use hot glue for gluing the actual engine because it gets too hot. The hot glue would melt.

  • is it important in what kind of angle the strws are? btw very nice vids!

  • @Bram97310 Thanks. If you have more of a bend you'll have trouble getting the candle under. I have seen video responses where people have less of a bend and it still works. However, the engine might intercept less heat, which would slow it down.

  • what angle is used for the bendy straws?

  • 35 degrees, but why not just use the pattern?

    Slater

  • hey cant get the prints i says it doest recognize the file

  • It's a PDF (Print Document Format) file which is widely used. I use this format because it holds the pattern to the right scale. PDF readers are free downloads, or maybe you can find someone who already has a PDF reader.
