Peter Noone was the lead singer for Herman's Hermits (Still is , but a different version of the group.) , he recorded a version of "Oh , You Pretty Things", with Bowie's assistance.
He also hosted "VH1 - My Genration" . I just thought the guy talking sounded like Noone , is all.
where did he get the 2" tape, i guess he must of stolen them all, i wonder if the bbc will prosicute him for stealing thease tapes, i guess not they found this idiot to give the tapes back, what a stupid guy he is
I must say ''I never thought I would see this again'' Many thanks to everyone involved in bringing thiis tape back from the vaults !!! I SAW IT 1st TIME ROUND !! At the time people who missed it didnt believe that it was totally live. Now i know i didnt imagine seeing it !!
Have waited almost 40 years to see this again. Remember being knocked out with this first time round, though had obviously forgotten how good it actually sounded. Bowie was at his peak at this point in Jan 73, he seemed to have been in the States forever before returning to re-start the UK tours in Jan and this was the welcome back moment for all the UK fans..
Although 'Starman' had me curious about Bowie, it was this screening of 'Jean Genie' on TOTP 3rd January 1973 that made me a lifelong fan. This is wonderful news and brings back a lot of great memories of the wonderful year!
And why is creating media jobs in Salford Quays a ludricous decision exactly? Yeah let's keep it all in London why don't we you silly twit?!?!

I was dead certain that was Peter Noone , until Henshall greets him as "Marvin" (?).
