He was such a good actor in his early career, now he's a crazed lunatic obsessed with Scientology.... It's sad really. I really liked his role as Lestat in "Interview with the vampire"
No, the only person who is truly sad is YOU. What the fuck do you care that he's into Scientology? How does that affect his roles and his projects? Idiot.
why is there never mention of interview with the vampire when its about Tom Cruise. Its one of my favourite movies and Cruise definitly did his best acting job in that. One of the best performances of all time was Tom Cruise as lestat I think..... am I the only one here..... ?
@manwithouthat44 man that movie, while great ( I agree with you) I think it was just sooo controversial because he made a complete departure from his usual film persona as a leading man. As lestate he was decadent, wicked, blazze about life and death and everyone was used to him playing the romantic leading man. I remember how oprah and tom got into it when she did her show in texas and she said she was disgusted by the movie and tom didnt speak to her for ten years.because of that.
@Snyltetast Still, it doesn't answer my question. How could he have such hair and not a single bald spot or even a slightly greying of hair. It's either a toupee or a very very very good hair transplant.
Of course, before he read the script he thought 80 million Germans were on Hitler's side! How dumb is that. There were loads of German Jews to begin with...people who hid their jewish neighbours under the floor boards, student organisations like the White Rose...My grandparents were just forced to fight even though they hated Hitler too. It's impossible to find a country full to the brim with gullible basterds.
@lilsm555 Cruise was also good in Risky Business, Taps, Oliver Stone's Born on the Fourth of July, Martin Scorses's The Colour of Money. and Magnolia by Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood), check 'em out if you like Last Samurai, you might also like Glory with Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman playing guess what, Civil War soldiers fighting for the South.

Stroumboulopoulos knows the art of interviewing! I loved his interview with Gerard Butler for 300. And this with Tom Cruise is great, too. Congratulations from Brazil, George!
Back in 2008 this was nothing more than a damage control video engineered behind the scenes by Scientology. So what if Cruise can act. Michael Jackson could sing but having sex with children is the issue. Cruise is the front man & in your face proponent of Scientology a world wide Cult. You think that's not so bad ? Read Penthouse 1983 interview with L. Ron Hubbard Jr. (son of L. Ron) if you want nightmares. Scientology uses Cruise as a foot in the door to how your mind perceives these Creeps.
Because this idiot doesn't have the force of mind to realize the criminality he supports and promotes by belonging to the Fascist Cult of $cientology, I refuse to pay money to see any film in which he appears, past or present. The latest film in which he appears is a total flop, as it should be.
@bapyou Fascism and religion dont go together, whatever it is. Mussolini was an atheist, he only dealt with the Catholic Church to gain more support from the very religious people of Italy.
Does the church of Scientology actively promote violence as a way of promoting their goals? No, and that is one of the principle ideas of Fascist ideology. Im tired of people throwing out the words Fascist and Anarchist without knowing what they are actually saying.
@nonamebrand0 "Does the church of Scientology actively promote violence as a way of promoting their goals?"
__
The "Church" of $cientology is not publicly violent. Its violence is private & kept from view. But it's real nonetheless. Thanks to ex-members of the $cientology cult who have made their experiences public, we know this now.
__
This fake scam called $cientology is most certainly fascist in its outlook & operation. It's nothing more than a money-making scam. So said L. Ron Hubbard.
@bapyou its still not Fascism. I in no way support or endorse the Church of Scientology, but just because their evil does not make them Fascist. Fascism is a political doctrine created by Benito Mussolini. If they were truly Fascist, they would not hide their violent actions (and would have to be very anti-communist)
Mussolini may have provided exposition of a political ideology, but facism is more a psychological pathology than a doctrine. The premise, "victory at any cost", taken to it's illogical extreme we see the scorched earth strategies of the Nazis.
Fighting fire with fire has always been the most paradoxical solution to a tactical problem. Facism is spread by warfare .
@thszntatst That just shows my point the Scientologists are not fascists. Crazy religious zealots, sure. Fascist, no.
The use of violence to reach ones aims is on of Fascisms important ideals, they really hid their actions from the public, they wanted the people to see what they were capable of. I don't see large groups of Scientologists beating down their rivals in the name of Mr.Hubbard or Scientology.
@nonamebrand0 I think there is a lot more, which is unseen than seen in the public realm of Scientology. They apparently have their "hit list" of those who go against them. I'm not sure to what extremes they go in punishing. It would be enlightening to discover what Scientology's true doctrine is on the subject of retribution.

@MindfulFuture its also a shame as i personally think tom cruise and john travolta are brilliant, and i think there genuine guys, i just dont think they look hard enough at the shadier people involved in that organisation, one person who called out on scientology was L ron hubbards own son who was very high up in the organisation.
@critbot They may be 'great guys' but there critical thinking skills and abilities to use reason and logic to distiguish reality from fantasy are lacking. And they are likely indoctrinating their own children and other people with their horseshit beliefs.
@MindfulFuture Well it comes down to what u discover in your own life, i mean i HATE scientology but i will never critisise JT and tom cruise as human beings, its clear to me they GENUINLELY trust in what they believe, they dont go out trying to convince people of something they know to be sham, they have arrived at an answer i disagree with, so as people i think there awesome, as for there beliefs i think its a shame but as people we all come to different answers, if it works for them great.
@critbot "Well it comes down to what u discover in your own life" Partly, yes, but I do think it should thenbe held up and compared to reality ;) No, for me, it comes down to facts and truth. "if it works for them great." Then, logically, you cannot criticise fundie suicide bombers or holocaust deniers, either, right?
@MindfulFuture again its a shame, as there role models and you are correct they have likely influenced others to there belief, i do not agree with this, but i think people take it too far attacking them personally, we have very drastically different lives and arrive at different answers. Scientology is an evil organisation i just dont believe them as individuals are too, they are more....misguided in my personal opinion but there faith is no less valid than anyone elses.
@critbot Every single human is potentially a role model. "Scientology is an evil organisation" I agree. " i just dont believe them as individuals are too" Fair enough, nobody really knows them anyways (besides their family/friends) but I ask you, if "Scientology is evil", then how are you ok with the people who comprise it's congregation and perpetuate damaging falsehoods? THAT'S how this 'evil' spreads.
@critbot "i think people take it too far attacking them personally" Attacking one's beliefs or ideas/opinions is not attacking someone personally. Sorry, but that's the sort of wishy-washy 'tolerance for stupidity and thinly disguised forms of damage' that makes our societies complacent and unable to distinguish right from wrong."but there faith is no less valid than anyone elses." You are right, all faiths that makes claims of certainty for which there is no evidence are equally INVALID.
@critbot One more thing to add, the ONLY respectable 'faith' is real agnostic faith. As soon as you add details, names, dates, supposed 'facts', dogmas, rules, etc it becomes a religion and we all know they are all full of immoral teachings and false knowledge that poisons brains, divides people etc. Even agnostic faith is irrational but at least it's honest and usually open to science and the possibility of being incorrect.
Tom Cruise is great but you cant deny the dudes a little weird, not that thats a bad thing but check out the failed understanding to Georges question at 8.30 and his eerie response to it.
My daddy always used to say "A little bit of religion never hurt anybody" and it's true. You can be religious and have morals and guidlines in which to live your life - without taking it to the extreme and far enough to fight people about it as long as you can respect other people's religions and faiths and morals. and that goes for everything really.
@MindfulFuture Actually, if you've ever read any of the holy books, they're not all outdated and out of modern context as some people might think. It's down to interpretation - which can also be a downfall - but as long as people don't take things to extremeties, which is what I highlighted in my first comment, then there's no damage. Have you read any of the holy scriptures? I hate when people argue about things which they no nothing about - whether you believe in religion or not is irrelevant.
@xHaniffax Yes, I made it about 3/4 of the way through the bible, and was anbsolutely dumbfounded I still to this day cannot understand how frightened someone must be to believe any of it..or any other religous nonsense...and I attended church as a child, knowing it was all BS even then.
@xHaniffax Why include parts in the supposed 'perfect word of divine instruction' that the reader has to interpret, ignore or somehow twist in order to try to rationalise it? Why not rewrite it, oh yeah, they did. Well, since morality evolves, if weak people must have something to use as a guide, why not try to find one that can be used by any human on this planet, does not divide, isn't filled with myths but actual facts and illustrations of a common compassion?
@xHaniffax Oh and "A little bit of religion never hurt anybody" is NOT true at all. Only a religious person could say that without feeling ashamed. If you don't agree 100% with your chosen religious text, then that tells me you don't really believe in that god. Sorry, but the fundies are acting exactly the way a true believer would.
@xHaniffax You can do all those without religion, too, so why risk damaging one's mind with the potentially harmful things in religious texts? The supposed 'morality' in these is actually immoral by our standards today, and either one cherry-picks which parts to use as 'guidelines' or they don't and are immoral.. So, either they are immoral or don't believe 'god's word' thusly plainly showing themselves that they aren't 'true believers', so what's the point??
@MindfulFuture Wow, you have a lot of time...Let me cut this short, I don't deny that you thought attending Church and reading the bible was BS, cause it is. The bible over time has developed holes and been interfered with to the point that it is mocked. I'm not a christian and I do believe in one God and I follow one book. I'm not ashamed to say that I am, and why should others make me feel bad for my faith.
@xHaniffax It's the weekend, and it's not like it took me very long to write a few short comments. Firstly, all religion is false. Secondly, Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, so when they're made in religion or politics or science etc. baseless assertions should be mocked if even the truth is denied in favour of one's dogmas. All bad ideas should have a little shame attached to them ;P
@MindfulFuture I'm not asking you to believe it too, but as a human being you should respect the views of others. And if you can't do that, then that makes you more ignorant than you *think* I am. And, my comment isn't marked as spam, I think you'll find a few of yours are though.
@xHaniffax I respect people, not their ill-thought out ideas. I can (and should) mock and belitle ignorant claims (so should you) in all facets of human life/understanding. I can still love the people who hold horrible ideas in ther minds. I was only letting you know that your one comment had been marked as spam by another youtuber, not me. I wasn't 'attacking' you with that comment. Good luck on your long journey.
Scientology is a cult, that is the main difference. It is a "bait and switch" in simplest terms...and was written only recently by a mad sci fi writer. The South Park episode on him was hillarious.
People identifying themselves as Christians have been as dangerous as Scientologists, but unllike Scientology the theology of Christianity, in and of itself, is not dangerous.
@thegirl44 I beg to differ. In what respects do you think Scientology is a more dangerous belief system than Christianity. The way I see it, they are equally harmful to critical and rational thinking. They are both equally relatively modern mythologies that attempt to mold 'morality' in an 'unnatural' manner. Since we know morality evolves, aren't both of these man-made devices equally disruptive to said healthy evolution/
@MindfulFuture i did alot of research into scientology and to be honost it is more dangerous in alot of ways. Not only are people remortaging there house and some people been made homeless to advance to the next level, but they also have been caught rooting through your bins for things to blackmail you with, and when one person tried to speak up over scientology they made her lose her job. Again these events have been caught, its not the religion thats more dangerous, its the people running it.
@critbot Fair enough..I just think you are 'splitting hairs', they're both damaging and should be considered mental illnesses when they reach destructive levels.
@thegirl44 Also, I would argue that the vast majority of people who 'identify' themselves as christians, don't REALLY believe what they claim to believe. Simply look at their words, actions, lifestyles etc. If they TRULY thought that their god was watching and going to punish them, they would lead different lives entirely. On some level, they know they only 'hoping' for some answers..too bad they are looking in the wrong places :)
@thegirl44 Hyperbole? Do you often use the speaker's faults as a logical argument against their point? It's ok..:) "Actual tangible tenets of the faith" Okay, please re-examine the definition if 'faith', true agnostic faith of a first cause or creator is incompatable with the dogmas of any religion, as they contain ridiculous claims of certainty, most of which we know are incorrect.
@thegirl44 "Christianity doesn't have the harrassment of your detractors by means of abusing the legal system and systematic bullying woven into it's doctrine.?
Um, those ARE the 'tangible tenets' of religion. Without those devices it would fail miserably. Where the heck have you been for the past 2 thousand years??!!
@thegirl44 Either way, how the hell do somewhat intelligent people end up believing ANY religion? I mean Scientology is pretty nutty in many respects but only seems more crazy than others because we've heard the equally nutty fables of the Abrahamic religions tens of thousands of times before the age of 30 (in the western world). And their utter ridiculousness has been 'watered down' by acceptance by many and by sheer repetition. The brainwashing is the same for every cult.
@grimmjowi yeah. he is but even he will say that he is a scientologist before he is an actor. His movies were awesome though (the old ones especially).
All i can say is that Tom Cruise is amazing. Yes he is arrogant, to a fever pitch!!!!! he is the epitome of a man with a desire for greatness and the balls to attain it. He worships himself and anything afffiliated with him. Anything he says, anything he believes in, anything he touches, everything is him. I'm sure on a personal level its almost disgusting but damn I really do believe that he can have a mean narcissistic streak that lurks behind that sexy smile
I find this hard to masturbate to :(

Im tired of people throwing out the words Fascist and Anarchist without knowing what they are actually saying.
nonamebrand0 1 year ago
@nonamebrand0 "Does the church of Scientology actively promote violence as a way of promoting their goals?"
__
The "Church" of $cientology is not publicly violent. Its violence is private & kept from view. But it's real nonetheless. Thanks to ex-members of the $cientology cult who have made their experiences public, we know this now.
__
This fake scam called $cientology is most certainly fascist in its outlook & operation. It's nothing more than a money-making scam. So said L. Ron Hubbard.
bapyou 1 year ago
@bapyou its still not Fascism. I in no way support or endorse the Church of Scientology, but just because their evil does not make them Fascist. Fascism is a political doctrine created by Benito Mussolini. If they were truly Fascist, they would not hide their violent actions (and would have to be very anti-communist)
nonamebrand0 1 year ago
@nonamebrand0
Facism is spread by warfare .
thszntatst 1 year ago
@thszntatst That just shows my point the Scientologists are not fascists. Crazy religious zealots, sure. Fascist, no.
The use of violence to reach ones aims is on of Fascisms important ideals, they really hid their actions from the public, they wanted the people to see what they were capable of. I don't see large groups of Scientologists beating down their rivals in the name of Mr.Hubbard or Scientology.

"they rarely hid their actions from the public"

@nonamebrand0 I think there is a lot more, which is unseen than seen in the public realm of Scientology. They apparently have their "hit list" of those who go against them. I'm not sure to what extremes they go in punishing. It would be enlightening to discover what Scientology's true doctrine is on the subject of retribution.

@MindfulFuture its also a shame as i personally think tom cruise and john travolta are brilliant, and i think there genuine guys, i just dont think they look hard enough at the shadier people involved in that organisation, one person who called out on scientology was L ron hubbards own son who was very high up in the organisation.
critbot 1 year ago
@critbot They may be 'great guys' but there critical thinking skills and abilities to use reason and logic to distiguish reality from fantasy are lacking. And they are likely indoctrinating their own children and other people with their horseshit beliefs.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@MindfulFuture Well it comes down to what u discover in your own life, i mean i HATE scientology but i will never critisise JT and tom cruise as human beings, its clear to me they GENUINLELY trust in what they believe, they dont go out trying to convince people of something they know to be sham, they have arrived at an answer i disagree with, so as people i think there awesome, as for there beliefs i think its a shame but as people we all come to different answers, if it works for them great.
critbot 1 year ago
@critbot "Well it comes down to what u discover in your own life" Partly, yes, but I do think it should thenbe held up and compared to reality ;) No, for me, it comes down to facts and truth. "if it works for them great." Then, logically, you cannot criticise fundie suicide bombers or holocaust deniers, either, right?
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@MindfulFuture again its a shame, as there role models and you are correct they have likely influenced others to there belief, i do not agree with this, but i think people take it too far attacking them personally, we have very drastically different lives and arrive at different answers. Scientology is an evil organisation i just dont believe them as individuals are too, they are more....misguided in my personal opinion but there faith is no less valid than anyone elses.
critbot 1 year ago
@critbot Every single human is potentially a role model. "Scientology is an evil organisation" I agree. " i just dont believe them as individuals are too" Fair enough, nobody really knows them anyways (besides their family/friends) but I ask you, if "Scientology is evil", then how are you ok with the people who comprise it's congregation and perpetuate damaging falsehoods? THAT'S how this 'evil' spreads.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago

@critbot "i think people take it too far attacking them personally" Attacking one's beliefs or ideas/opinions is not attacking someone personally. Sorry, but that's the sort of wishy-washy 'tolerance for stupidity and thinly disguised forms of damage' that makes our societies complacent and unable to distinguish right from wrong."but there faith is no less valid than anyone elses." You are right, all faiths that makes claims of certainty for which there is no evidence are equally INVALID.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@critbot One more thing to add, the ONLY respectable 'faith' is real agnostic faith. As soon as you add details, names, dates, supposed 'facts', dogmas, rules, etc it becomes a religion and we all know they are all full of immoral teachings and false knowledge that poisons brains, divides people etc. Even agnostic faith is irrational but at least it's honest and usually open to science and the possibility of being incorrect.

I hate when people argue about things which they no nothing about - whether you believe in religion or not is irrelevant.
xHaniffax 1 year ago
@xHaniffax Yes, I made it about 3/4 of the way through the bible, and was anbsolutely dumbfounded I still to this day cannot understand how frightened someone must be to believe any of it..or any other religous nonsense...and I attended church as a child, knowing it was all BS even then.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@xHaniffax Why include parts in the supposed 'perfect word of divine instruction' that the reader has to interpret, ignore or somehow twist in order to try to rationalise it? Why not rewrite it, oh yeah, they did. Well, since morality evolves, if weak people must have something to use as a guide, why not try to find one that can be used by any human on this planet, does not divide, isn't filled with myths but actual facts and illustrations of a common compassion?
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@xHaniffax Also, I should add, someone marked your comment as spam, it wasn't me :)
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@xHaniffax Oh and "A little bit of religion never hurt anybody" is NOT true at all. Only a religious person could say that without feeling ashamed. If you don't agree 100% with your chosen religious text, then that tells me you don't really believe in that god. Sorry, but the fundies are acting exactly the way a true believer would.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@xHaniffax You can do all those without religion, too, so why risk damaging one's mind with the potentially harmful things in religious texts? The supposed 'morality' in these is actually immoral by our standards today, and either one cherry-picks which parts to use as 'guidelines' or they don't and are immoral.. So, either they are immoral or don't believe 'god's word' thusly plainly showing themselves that they aren't 'true believers', so what's the point??
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@MindfulFuture Wow, you have a lot of time...Let me cut this short, I don't deny that you thought attending Church and reading the bible was BS, cause it is. The bible over time has developed holes and been interfered with to the point that it is mocked. I'm not a christian and I do believe in one God and I follow one book. I'm not ashamed to say that I am, and why should others make me feel bad for my faith.
xHaniffax 1 year ago
@xHaniffax It's the weekend, and it's not like it took me very long to write a few short comments. Firstly, all religion is false. Secondly, Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, so when they're made in religion or politics or science etc. baseless assertions should be mocked if even the truth is denied in favour of one's dogmas. All bad ideas should have a little shame attached to them ;P
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@MindfulFuture I'm not asking you to believe it too, but as a human being you should respect the views of others. And if you can't do that, then that makes you more ignorant than you *think* I am. And, my comment isn't marked as spam, I think you'll find a few of yours are though.
xHaniffax 1 year ago
@xHaniffax I respect people, not their ill-thought out ideas. I can (and should) mock and belitle ignorant claims (so should you) in all facets of human life/understanding. I can still love the people who hold horrible ideas in ther minds. I was only letting you know that your one comment had been marked as spam by another youtuber, not me. I wasn't 'attacking' you with that comment. Good luck on your long journey.

@SolidSnake032486
People identifying themselves as Christians have been as dangerous as Scientologists, but unllike Scientology the theology of Christianity, in and of itself, is not dangerous.
thegirl44 1 year ago
@thegirl44 I beg to differ. In what respects do you think Scientology is a more dangerous belief system than Christianity. The way I see it, they are equally harmful to critical and rational thinking. They are both equally relatively modern mythologies that attempt to mold 'morality' in an 'unnatural' manner. Since we know morality evolves, aren't both of these man-made devices equally disruptive to said healthy evolution/
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@MindfulFuture i did alot of research into scientology and to be honost it is more dangerous in alot of ways. Not only are people remortaging there house and some people been made homeless to advance to the next level, but they also have been caught rooting through your bins for things to blackmail you with, and when one person tried to speak up over scientology they made her lose her job. Again these events have been caught, its not the religion thats more dangerous, its the people running it.
critbot 1 year ago
@critbot Fair enough..I just think you are 'splitting hairs', they're both damaging and should be considered mental illnesses when they reach destructive levels.
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@thegirl44 Also, I would argue that the vast majority of people who 'identify' themselves as christians, don't REALLY believe what they claim to believe. Simply look at their words, actions, lifestyles etc. If they TRULY thought that their god was watching and going to punish them, they would lead different lives entirely. On some level, they know they only 'hoping' for some answers..too bad they are looking in the wrong places :)

@MindfulFuture
Philosophical hyperbole is always fun but I'm talking about the actual tangible tenets of the faith.
Christianity doesn't have the harrassment of your detractors by means of abusing the legal system and systematic bullying woven into it's doctrine.

MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@thegirl44 "Christianity doesn't have the harrassment of your detractors by means of abusing the legal system and systematic bullying woven into it's doctrine.?
Um, those ARE the 'tangible tenets' of religion. Without those devices it would fail miserably. Where the heck have you been for the past 2 thousand years??!!
MindfulFuture 1 year ago
@thegirl44 Either way, how the hell do somewhat intelligent people end up believing ANY religion? I mean Scientology is pretty nutty in many respects but only seems more crazy than others because we've heard the equally nutty fables of the Abrahamic religions tens of thousands of times before the age of 30 (in the western world). And their utter ridiculousness has been 'watered down' by acceptance by many and by sheer repetition. The brainwashing is the same for every cult.
