As a child I watched my first race at six and remember the Bill O'Mara famous prayer. In 1952, I watched my first race live, and the sound of the pistons captivated me. In 1955, Bill Muncey came on the scene and his youthful enthusiasm for racing made me an instant fan. Muncey driving, and Bill O'Mara announcing became Seattle. There was nothing like 1950's hydroplane racing in Seattle. It was the Super Bowl. The death of Bill Muncey marked the slow decline of the sport.
When Pistons were King, I watched Bill Muncey ever since I was a kid and Ron Musson of Barhdal fame. it was partly because of these men I went on to race Hydroplanes. Thankyou I will always remember the thrill thay gave me.
I watch this video with a heavy heart. I was a 21 year old standing on “that” beach and enjoying the day when Bill’s boat flipped. I was a crew member of the USS Duncan FFG-10, and was enjoying a day of liberty in the port-of-call, Acapulco. Some locals drove me and a shipmate up into the surrounding mountains to this lake for the day. If I remember right, this was the last race/lap of the day in this UIM World Championship race. Thank you for posting this video.

Never seen this before, what an awesome start by Muncey! He literally went through 5 wakes and roostertail spray and got lane one, amazing, RIP Bill.
