if the ice engine in a chev volt creates eletricity to keep the cars electric motor operating-- can you give us an example of how much energy/electriciy it takes to keep the car moving? This question may seem out of place but dont we also want in the future to find a way to house in the same vehicle the means to keep the batteries charge replenished--sorry if its not interesting toyou guys. Thanks, Vince.
Shame you do not like Volt. The total number of deliveries for the calendar year 2011 is 7,671 Volts. May not 10,000 but pretty close especially with all the bad press. It gets some of us started in the game.
Also, this got my wife interested and she won't share the Volt. Her commute is about 10 miles each way to work in very bad traffic here in Princeton NJ. The vehicle that the Volt replaced got 10 mpg in the 30 minute commute for that 10 miles. Now she does in on electric.
Also, i agree with Capitancanguro1, squeezing the cells with zip ties might not me really good for the internal layers and insulations... Better use the aluminum plate just like with the CALB or TS cells at eahc ends
Richard, At 2:08:20, when you measure the temperature of the aluminum plate, your infrared thermometer is in fact measuring the reflected IR , just like a mirror is foing with visible light. That's why you have some strange reading, Aluminum like many other metal can not be accurately measured in temperature with an IR thermometer, For exemple, if you move your hand in front of the aluminum plate while you measure the temp with your IR thermometer, you will affect the reading... better use RTD
Shouldn't that be 7.671 kv's sold.. ;) love the show

Lotus is owned by Proton of Malaysia.
I believe that if the electric cars look like Ferrari they sell.

open an led lightbulb factory! (in the usa not china!)
and build them with led's made in the usa too, not imported!
happy new year to you both and your familes.
Lez.
(trapped in the uk with no decent batteries or motors, and $20 a gallon gas prices)
