i actually really enjoyed this film. i'm doing a short film for ext2 this year and i appreciate how hard it is to organise these things. the thing i liked about yours was it was realistic and wasn't attempting to be all artsy. what mark did you get?
hey loved the video, especially the music used, really helped to emphasis what was being shown. im contemplating doing film for my ext 2 assignment. how long did this take you to film?
It took about 2 terms of pretending to do work by writing a script and the two nights of shooting and about a week of editing. Not long at all, I only got 35 for this though because they are so limited in their criteria they hate original stories, all my mates who did original stuff got screwed, all my mates who did remakes of poems or something shit like that which has a strong undeniable link to a text got like 40+
Your attention to detail is amazing. Fair enough if you don't like the character. But it's easy to criticize character construction when you choose to overlook it in your own films. I mean it's too bad the focus was on tomato sauce, senseless ultra violence, a hungry rowan atkinson, funny faces and derivative experimentation.
Man I don't take offence, but don't get all high and mighty about an HSC film for fucks sake.
dude the movies awesome. it mightve bin the response that put down your marks. i like it though way better than those artistic bullshit films. im thinking about doing a film for my ext 2 but ive never done one before. any adive wat camera and editing program did u use?
Hey man, I used a Canon XL2 which is like a shoulder mounted standard definition (but progressive) camera. And I edited it on Adobe Premeire Pro. I hope this helps, ask me any thing else if you want.
can i ask what you meant by it??? what we're you aiming for??? otherwise AWESOME work, editing it perfecto etc etc... u shoulda gottten better.. just a tad confused with your ultimate "message"..?
I got 35 out of 50. A bit low if you ask me, I suggest you really make clear the connection between your subject matter and the syllabus. Whether it be journey or something else. It took me about 3 nights of shooting and one week to edit, also about 2 months of occasional work on the script and structure.
ps - The pink tinge on frames 2, 3 and those to follow closely infront, accomodate for the errupting tension between the protagonists, leading to the main climactic cat fight.
I just want to say, it's just, for lack of better words...masterly, untarnished...and... "simply the best"- Tina Turner
How did you accomdate for the extras on such an expensive location? So realistic.
I came across this immaculate and tasteful production, whilst sipping on my hot milo with marshmellows last night. I decided to let you know of the imense potential you hold as a movie maker. Your handycam must be heaps tight!
The mass bulk of your short film is amplitudict to the size of the context morphius. The phallic symbols portray shafting montages that encompass a wide range of emotive defects, spanning from archaic simplitudes to almost fully sick, hectic bananzas.
Yep, angst and confusion of halcyon days. You got it. You'll go far developing characters with the humanity of social dilemmas. Australian film has a deficit in this. 5 Stars. Blessings from Earth +++ The Saint +++
Very professional. My advice to you is you should find a short story you like and film it. Any classic short story and rewrite to fit you and whatever cast you assemble. It said that its too easy to take off someone else. But in fact using other peoples work enforces a kind of discipline, as opposed to the looseness that can happen when you use your own. I know this from experience.
Yeah that was the mark of the entire course. But since I got an internal mark of 47 I must have got an external of less than 40... So that means they didn't really like, or get the movie.
The film took about 7 weeks of pre-production, scripwriting and such, and 4 days shooting. The editing took about a solid week of hard work, but it was the best thing I did all year that is the most enjoyable. I suggest you do it if you enjoy making films or would like to make one, but try to make something with obvious connections to the course.
Yeah the song is called "Did You Feel Low" and its written by A.R. Christensen but performed by a band called A Rex. It a cool song, very shoegazy. Kinda sounds like "Just like Honey" - the Jesus Mary Chain song that's in Lost in Translation.
On the board of studies requirements sheet I have it said that films are only aloud 5 - 6 mins (i think its an old sheet). I have finsihed my film but it 7 - 8 mins and I was wondering did you do a film or a video on like a VHS?
Hey hope this reply aint to late, but I edited mine on my home pc and then compressed the file with a DivX compressor and burnt it to a dvd with a program called power DVD i think. Try toast if you have a mac.
man its a sick film. funny how the night shown was exact opposite to what happened. haha like heeps of friends and all fun. good to see that you posted your won stuff haha. dont forget ym birthday tomorrow.
nice work. I liked the tension build-up and whole plot. Kept me really interested. :)

Well filmed and edited. Too bad the focus were a bunch of pussyfags. if youre gonna make a movie about pussyfags its gotta be funny. Like Superbad
Hope you dont take offense to this

haha thanks man. my problem was i didnt care what happened to the main guy. he was a wet blanket the whole night:
- reluctant to come out
- scabbed ogalos off his mate
- didnt drink at the party
- threatened to leave the party because the girly he fancied wasnt there (what about his mates)
- had a lil cry over an accidental chip on the chin.
HARDEN THE FUCK UP

Good effort. Nice use of music to capture the emotion, especially towards the end.
2 queries though.
1. Was that makr the product of the entire course, including the reflection statement and the other internal assessments?
2. How long did it take to complete. Coz i'm considering doing a film, but just not sure if its worth the time I have.
