I have been riding rollers for many many years now, so I have kinda know what I'm talking about. 1. Start in a bigger gear because the faster you go the more the gyration of your wheels will help you balance. Another reason you should start in a bigger is is that you won't have to worry about shifting, which can take a while to get used too on rollers, especially with areo bars. 2. Move the front roller forward a couple of inches. 3. Pick a spot on the wall to help you keep your focus. Cheers
Try riding a couple feet in front of a TV, watching your favorite show and focus on keeping your balance, do not use clips or clipless-shoes until you've gained enough experiance keeping your balance on the roller. Ride at a comfortable pace, not too fast or too slow. If you fall over, just fall over; putting something to land on the floor makes getting back up difficult and mostly frustrating. Do not use your aerobars, change your gears before you get on. Increase your cadence for more speed.
Move your front roller forward like 2 or 3 holes. It should be just in front of your front tire. Also, use a doorway so you can brace with your elbows on both sides.
Good for you for posting your attempt. It shows courage!!! I noticed you are looking down when you take a dive. A couple of things you can do:
1.) until you get used to using the rollers, set your gear to somewhere in the middle range. this will allow you to ride without shifting.
2.) most importantly, look ahead, not down. set something about 6-8 feet ahead of you on the ground and focus on that. not looking directly down is key.
@cainemansion125 rollers are much more difficult than a trainer... they also help racing and are used along with the regular trainer. I ride inside, outside, on a trainer and rollers. The hardest part is the rollers. lets see a video of you using them
rollers need patience at first because the are deceivingto ride on them like a pro it will take some time and i prefer not to put these nice roads o nthem ,try an old frame that you willnt worry about the freame if it got scratched
@SirJazz I have done triathlons, I compete in about 4 triathlons every year
I have done the Pacific Coast triathlon, the Bonelli Olimpic triathlon, Hemet Sprint Triathlon and the Turkey trot Triathlon at Bonelli park. right now im getting ready for the Pacific coast tri in 3weeks, I will also be in the Los Angeles Kaiser Permanente triathlon in Oct. What about you do you compete??
@fernie0007 what happens if u crash during a race? :D iv seen carbon frames break/explode but the guy with the steel frame in the crash got back up and kept riding :D but i know carbon is good, but then again steel is also good :D
@DrummerNigel7 do you see anyone in the pro tour riding steel hahaha no profesional road cyclist, triathlete or even most mountain bikers will ever prefer steel
don't look directly down at your front wheel. that's why your falling off so much. your suppose to look ahead just like if you were actually riding your bike on the road and by doing that you'll be able to hold a better line on the rollers.
I have the exact same rollers. I too had a hard time at first. One time I was watching an NFL game on the rollers and cheered after a touchdown, lost my bearings on the rollers and fell hard. It hurt at 1st but I couldn't stop laughing :)
Quite a few of these first time roller videos have dogs roaming free in background etc... suprised one hasn't taken the toll of the 'falling roller noob' yet :)
There might be a number of things why you are having problems with the rollers. The first one would be, some rollers have guards to catch you before you fall off the rollers and yours obviously doesn't. Second, it looks like the front roller is positioned a lil too far back, perhaps move it up so it is just past the front fork. Or maybe its the fact that you are riding on carpet. find a hard wood floor or concrete floor to practice and see if that makes any difference.
That bikes probably .... Haha aluminum.... Loserrrrr u don't even need rollers u noob

people with no guts riding outside like to use rollers, because most of them cannot afford a bike trainer.

@karlstade I agree, riding in the rain is fun, but i try to avoid riding in
wet conditions since i dont want to get my bike wet since its my
only bike to ride.

@karlstade yep, the rollers are only good when it rains and you
really want to ride, otherwise stick to the road.

fernie0007 1 year ago
@fernie0007 there is no need to buy expensive stuff, it doesnt make you faster anyway.
but yeah. go spent 100 dollar for a bottle cage
SirJazz 1 year ago
@SirJazz youre right an expensive bike does not make you faster but
it is very reliable, and by the way my bike is not anywhere near as expensive as
some other bikes are.
fernie0007 1 year ago
@fernie0007 i think steel frames would be more reliable then carbon.
DrummerNigel7 1 year ago
@DrummerNigel7 steel frames are too stiff so it creates a rough ride,
steel is also very heavy. Carbon fiber is super light, its stiff but it flexes
so it is a confortable ride
fernie0007 1 year ago
@fernie0007 what happens if u crash during a race? :D iv seen carbon frames break/explode but the guy with the steel frame in the crash got back up and kept riding :D but i know carbon is good, but then again steel is also good :D
DrummerNigel7 1 year ago
@DrummerNigel7 changes of crashing are 50/50, i rather take my
changes and pass the guys with the steel frame since carbon
is lighter and faster. steel bikes also get damaged, you have to check
your wheels and spokes, make sure the seat didnt twist, the handle bars
are positioned straight and the derailers didnt bend.

Was your handlebars too narrow? I prefer the racing bike's drop handles, which gives more stability, to avoid the front wheel's wavering.
spitgalore 2 years ago
no the handle bars are actually too wide, I changed the handles bars more narrow. I also prefer the drop down handles
