The oompa loompas are the exact same as Charlie-- they had nothing in Oompa Loompa Land, just like Charlie. They got to come live in the factory. The same with Charlie. The story is actually full of meaning, and a theme of deserving versus spoiled.
Anyways, as far as the TV is concerned, the people that only see the TV become blind, and only hearing the TV they become deaf.
