Weird I typed in random letters, let spell check do it's work, and I end up here, it's amazing how much history this place has though I've never heard of it :P
Who remembers RAG day and the boat race down the Don???
I can recall back in the 70's being on Ladies bridge when someone was throwing bags of flour at the students in the boat race, one of the students caught a bag and launchede it back at the bridge as fast as owt!!- it smacked a bloke full in the face but he laughed like mad at it!!
The good old days!!
The City is unrecognisable now, long gone is the soot and smog- even the birds don't cough during the dawn chorus anymore!!!
After watching this short video clip I purchased the DVD, which had two Sheffield programmes on it, 110 minutes of footage and there was also a DVD, called Sheffield at War, great stuff.
do you remember,"Sheffield, City On The Move" It was a film that was shown before the main feature in the pictures in the 70's. Has it moved at all? I've been away since then.
Aah, the Hole in the Road, does anyone else remember the fishes down there in the tank? And that strong smell of disinfectant? I actually was quite sad when they filled it in.
I wish I had grown up back in them times! I'm only 23 but love hearing and watching about the 'old' way of living and wish them times where here to this day! One thing I do hate is the way of change Sheffield has surcome too, knocking down the old lovable buildings that have been there since I can even remember and making way for the new modern one's it is such a disgrace to our heritage and what we should stand for!
I love all the old videos of Sheffield. I like spotting areas that I recognize and seeing just how different things are

Aah, the Royal Hospital on West Street.
I remember having my tonsils out there back in August 1972.
I even remember the name of the girl in the bed next to mine : Tracey Truelove.
Well, you'd never forget a catchy name like that, would you?

@theuk7yahoo Cellar? You were lucky to have a cellar. All we had was an 'ole in the ground covered by a sheet of tarpaulin ; it was a cellar to US.
