Thanks for the tutorial which was great, but i noticed i lost both swype and finnish keyboard in the process. Any way to get the originals back? Or do i need to switch back to original firmware. And is switching back as complicated?

@KhazeII oh wait, swype does work but i still cant find a way to get finnish keyboard setting which is quite important as has the letters ä & ö.

forget everything the most easiest way to fix lag for froyo is install z4root on your pc copy that file to your mobile and than open it and than it says root your your device root it after that go to market install one click lag fix and open one click lag fix v2+ and wait thats it and than see tha benchmark test it shows nearly 1800 and its hundred percent safe and takes only 10 to 15 mins

hi i hav upgraded my phne to froyo 2.2 bt i hav a problem

tht in the notification bar there is no vibration setting and one thing else when i upgraded my phne to froyo...if i rotate it in frm verticle to horizontal....it goes very easily bt when i want to rotate it back frm horizontal to verticle it get stucked to horizontal so i decided to unmark the rotating oppstion frm settings

bt stilli feel tht sme features r missing in my galaxy S like rotating one

Do you believe that the htc desire is better than the galaxy s? Or vise versa? I know desire isnt the best when it comes to gaming, but ever since i overclocked it all my games seem to be running perfectly smooth. But on the other hand, I think the desire's better than the galaxy s in handling day to day tasks. Besides, there's always the option of getting an ipod touch if you really want gaming that bad.

then turns black after a few time

then shows the screen with galaxy s again

if i keep pushing the buttons this keeps on happening over and over again

same happens for Recovery Mode and Download Mode

i've found an alternative way to get to Recovery Mode (by your video's) but i can't finde one for Download Mode

I've found a way to get to download mode, i did the last stap of your video (using odin v1.30) but it it say it did fail.

i've wanded to try again so i've closed odin, restared it, then i turn of my phone and restarted it to get back in to download mode (using adb on cmd.exe)

now i'm getting a screen with a phone and a pc and a warning icon in between

now what to do?

I thought only reason why Fascinate is running upto 325MB was because RAM was restricted even though it has 512MB capacity. So are you saying 325MB RAM restriction will still exist after froyo? If this is the case, then it's not good.

@SouthKoreaOptimism So far I haven't heard any *successful* stories about froyo unlocking more memory. But who knows - maybe in the future, it will.

My RAM has max capacity of 325MB, is this going to be improved after froyo update for unrooted fascinate? Also another question is, would froyo allow us to use sd storage to install apps?

@SouthKoreaOptimism The froyo upgrade doesn't change your maximum ram capacity - that's a hardware limitation. The froyo upgrade should, however, help your phone run smoother b/c of the froyo software optimizations.  It will also allow you to install apps onto your sd card (instead of the phone memory - unless you so choose to).

@silverghozt Abort the process, get your phone back into download mode (via 3-button method), and close Odin. Unplug your phone, open up Odin again, plug your phone back in, and flash the firmware again.

Hey, thanks for the info. My issue now is that I have loaded the firmware, but when the phone reboots, it's stuck on the boot screen. it will not move past it. i have tried 2 different firmwares, with the same result.

@silverghozt is your phone the i9000? European firmwares will pose some problems on North American phones (like the Captivate, Vibrant, Epic 4G, etc)

I just installed the Official release of 2.2 for the Galaxy. It sucks. Quadrant rates my phone at 980, but under your build it gets 1780.

@kkkastig As I mentioned in my earlier comment, no, I would not recommend using this tutorial for vibrant/captivate/north American galaxy s's because of the difference in the region of the firmwares.

@theflyer99 I wouldn't recommend following this tutorial if your phone cannot get into download mode via 3-button method, as this tutorial requires it (and if your phone gets messed up, then the 3-button download would pretty much be your "only way out").

@djvollie You probably unplugged your phone before Odin was done flashing. Go back into download mode and reflash the firmware.

Ive giving up with froyo firmwares till the proper lag fix come out(one click lag fix still laggy) , JPH is not really bad, but I like voodoo lag fix, its really fast on 2.1 roms.

P.S dont sell your SGS, its a great phone :)

I only like it better because of nit-picky personal preferences: the wider selection of apps @ the Appstore,  easier/more theming from Cydia, and a smaller footprint (I have small hands :) ), to name a few. I still think both are great phones - I just decided to stay with the iphone, that's all.

You will lose these fixes once you flash to the official froyo, and you won't be able to flash these custom roms, BUT once the devs make their roms & lagfixes compatible with the official froyo, you can use them.
