Pranhu, you don't quite have the ending of the story correct. There is MUCH more to the ending, but I encourage people to see it for themselves. It will linger with you for a long time. Pranhu has it correct with the words, "sad story." But then, there are many Hindi films that have sad endings, but doesn't take away from the talent, beauty, music, songs, and dancing, etc.

she's an artisant--considered as an indian geisha. Her life story was sad.. She was kidnnaped then got trained as an artisant... the sultant felt in love with her, somehow the sultant must marry to some girl that he didnt like. the a banndit took her away but he got killed by a police. she fled back to her town, her own brother rejected and kicked her out from her house..finally she went back and did the old job.. sad story ..

@MissZlabiya I am a Kathak dancer myself and I totally disagree with you. Ash is a very good dancer. Very graceful and truly remarkable dance moves and you can see how much she loves it. The expression in her eyes is very sensual, strong and powerful ..and so is her dancing.

i totally respect your professional eye but in my opinion, in jhute ilzam, sometimes here movments are too quick for a sexy dance,Specially with her arms when she is standing

so the movemnts are not gracefull cause they are too quick...

its about this young girl who gets kidnapped from her village at a young age and is sold to this brothel. she grows up being loved by this older couple who tutor the various children living at the brothel and is taught how to be a courtesan. this movie is based on a book about the life of umaro jaan. how she falls in love with the guy in this song and they become lovers only to have him think she was unfaithful later. it's a beautiful story...
