The SBA helps small business such as Nike, Outback Steakhouse, FedEx, HP, JetBlue, Intel, AOL and many more. It is true. I have a company that is profitable for over 2 year and I would like to grow my company. I went to a bank that is actually lending, I know VP at the bank and still can not get a loan. They said they did not think the financials were strong enough yet, that I should wait a quarter or two and apply again. The SBA backs the loan at 100% and the banks still wont lend. Painful!

SBA's definition of small (500 employeess) includes 99.97% of all businesses! When they say they focus on helping small businesses, it's like saying they focus on people who are under 7 feet tall - a ludicrous position to take.

They don't help small businesses - they help businesses largely between 50 and 500 employees. Businesses w/ 20 or fewer employees receive almost nothing from the SBA, even thought they comprise 86% of all businesses in America.

SBA affiliates, like SCORE, focus on the businesses w/ 20 or fewer employees, and provide ongoing coaching and no cost.

SCORE is not the SBA. The fact remains the SBA does almost nothing to help companies w/ fewer than 20 employees.

SCORE is not the SBA and I didn't mention them but what percentage of SCORE advisors have ever started a business?  I keep asking - SCORE can't or won't answer it. I've found one in the dozens I've talked to.

But this was about the SBA. What has the SBA done to truly help businesses under 20 emp., which constitute 86% of all businesses & 56% of the GDP? Interested in heaing.
