Remake... Personally I would prefer if they actually finished the original game. You know, the second disc, which is essentially a mix of looong abridged cutscenes and boss fights. The developers didn't have enough time, or money, or maybe both, so they had to cramp what they'd already done and somewhat connect it with characters monologue... Bah, you know what I'm talking about. So, if they finished it back then - that'd be enough.
@rexquom i hear ya...to me Xenogears is the " Tool" of the RPG world ( tool that band that is ) as far as it's distinquished style, storyline, graphics at the time, and gameplay. Tool in the music real life world is awesome tribal hard rock music ( something like that).

First time I went by this sequence I was amazed and shocked by ID's evil intented attack. to the point I was SURE I might have fukked up by not doing the mission correctly, I must have reseted around 3 times back to the last save point hoping it could come out better.
Still that's just one of Xenogears' epic momments.

This has got to be one of the best epic scenes in the game. It is truly a shame that the creators were not able to finish the second disk like they wanted to, nor finish the series. imho it would of out shine square flagship series final fantasy. Hate to be a conspirator hypothesis but i think that is why square pulled the plug on the series. If you have never played this game, I strongly recommend it. Despite it being on the ps, its still one of the best rpgs ever made. imo of course.

this part had me in awe. epic game with so many theories and philosophies that u couldnt understand as a child. i was 15 when this game came out. i didnt really understand until like 23 when i replayed it....the writers of the story dug so deep into life its not even funny
This is probably one of the greatest scenes from the greatest RPG ever to be released.
What I hate is that Square was unable to get funding for the U.S release due to the sensitive issues regarding religion and only when EA stepped in where they able to release the game. However, because of that the second disc was extremely cut and that’s why 80% of it is text, half the “towns” were removed and well, if you’ve played the game, you know what I’m talking about.
@AceAileron Wait.. what are you talking about? Are you serious?.. Is there a site that points out the main differences between the USA and Japan versions of the game? Cuz' if I'm playing the cut version (US) I don't wanna play half of a game I'm loving already !

@chiminox No, there is no difference between the games - the game just seriously lacks content on the second disk due to the budget. They really did remove being able to enter 90% the towns and the story become a weird string of flashbacks. I'm not saying it was bad, it just lacked what the first disc perfected.
Once you complete Solaris, the game is pretty played for you until you get to the very end. It's still an amazing game but who knows what it could have been?
@AceAileron Pretty much. The second disc was butchered as a last resort to get the game out.
Square's marketing team was stressing the Xenogears team badly. Once the project was completed, the entire Xenogears team mysteriously disbanded (Likely fired as the game was meant to release on the SNES. It took nearly 10 years to complete this masterpiece).
It's sad that the group of geniuses behind it just wandered off with the remaining few joining Monolith Soft.
Ha ha, I remember when I played this through the first time. I was like, please don't make me have to fight Id. And then when you do, it's like oh shit...I'm fucked. XD
iirc the explanation was really absurd. They sank into a cave underground and found an exact replica of the Yggdrasil that could travel through water instead of sand. Then they end up shooting down a vessel with Fei and his gear in it again while at sea.
Actually, Grahf is the "other" half of Lacan that split when Lacan made contact with the Zohar some 500 years ago and/or after Sophia died. Grahf is not considered to be the Original Lacan, the Contact, but still in essance his will. Grahf, as well as Fei's mother, was killed when he tried to merge with Fei as a child and Fei's abilities came full bloom. THIS, is when his spirit offically merged with Fei's father, Khan Wong, and formed a sort of Fei/Id relationship. Instead, Khan(Wisman)/Grahf.

@nieves99 Funny you should say that...Xenosaga was supposed to be a reboot/remake of this series that was supposed to be a 6 game series...however due to budget cuts it only got 3 games...however I guess Fei can be seen in Xenosaga III as a child but it's only implied that it's Fei...Plus you can also fight Weltall/Id Weltall as an optional boss fight...however it's renamed Unversitas/Id Universitas in Xenosaga III
It has been so many years since any game has impacted me as much as Xenogears. I , as everyone else that played this game, was deeply intrigued by the character known as Id. I was surprised that with the outcome because I never would have thought that the protagonist and Id were one.
I can remember being younger, and when Id picks the ship up...that might be one of the best moments in my life! Best game ever, best story ever! Its too bad that the Perfect Works guide cost so much! Really, i think it took me like three playthroughs to actually understand the story completely, so amazing. There should be an anime movie version of the entire game, but it would be like twenty hours long! Goddamn what a game!
One of the most epic moments in Xenogears for me. I've played through the game before just to see this scene! It's funny how many people still do not understand the story behind Xenogears and Xenosaga.
@xiayu27 I dont blame them though :P it's the best thought up story for any game ever. Starting from the Eldridge starting year 0000-all the way to where you actually start Xenogears, in year 9999. It's amazing how everything folds together. I've played the game 3 times, and only now am i beginning to put everything together. I had to read a specific site that gives you the ins and outs of everything though. That was the only way i could see things clearly! :D Weltall ID and Alpha Weltall rule!

i played the demo for this game when i was little then when i was about 13 i started searching for this game, bad thign was i had not the slightst idea what the game was called. I Have only found this game NOW i am 19 atm...
i plyed the demo too it came in the parasite eve case then i got it for xmas 98 then beat it april 6th 99' took me long cuz i got stuck and i was also playing silent hill too.
That's not a very accurate statement. Xenogears sold 890,000 units in Japan and 400,000 in Europe and North America making it one of Squaresoft's most successful games not called Final Fantasy something. It also has four sequels/prequels.
Not really I saw my sister's boyfriend playing this lately. Citan escapes from the ship, czar-ish guy in Kislev plays on the organ, and Fei shows up in Kislev prison with Citan being the new doctor in the district.
Why won't they release this in Europe in the first place !
God, I feel lucky... I'm french and this game was never ever sold in my country. I can thank internet, online friends, the fact that I did well in english classes and import... because otherwise... I still would be pretty clueless about Xenogears.
I believe that Grahf transmigrated into Kahn's body after or before Grahf died. Kahn Wong disguised as Wiseman to prevent em from knowing his real identity..
Grahf is kinda like Fei's Id... Only, Grahf "separated" from Lacan's consciousness and body making it its own identity.... In search of power, Grahf merges with other people's bodies (Khan Wong)... Grahf originally wanted to merge with Fei's body but Khan prevented him from doing so.... Grahf is only a part of Lacan's mind / Id / existence, not Lacan himself
@Artificialraven Grahf merges with Khan Wong, but Wong's will is strong enough that he can fight off Grahf for some periods of time. He then turns into Wiseman in order to aid Fei. Kahn Wong trained under Gaspar, one of Shevat's thee gurus.
@Artificialraven Lacan did become Grahf because of his anguish over Sophia's death and trying to make contact with the Zohar when his Elehaym (Sophia) was already dead. Grahf is like a spirit and he possesses Khan Wong. So in a way he is like Id for Khan because he is sometimes dormant. When Grahf is dormant, Khan takes on the role of Wiseman and tries to do good.

Wiseman is Grahf/Lacan. The Wiseman persona was Kahn's last resort to keeping his promise to protect Fei. He created it and kept that portion of his alive in Wiseman until Id literally told Fei what was really going on. At that point Fei started seeing his father in Grahf. Remember his last line before he was absorbed by Grahf/Lacan"I'll never let you have him. Even if it kills me".

Square's marketing team was stressing the Xenogears team badly. Once the project was completed, the entire Xenogears team mysteriously disbanded (Likely fired as the game was meant to release on the SNES. It took nearly 10 years to complete this masterpiece).
It's sad that the group of geniuses behind it just wandered off with the remaining few joining Monolith Soft.

iirc the explanation was really absurd. They sank into a cave underground and found an exact replica of the Yggdrasil that could travel through water instead of sand. Then they end up shooting down a vessel with Fei and his gear in it again while at sea.

Actually, Grahf is the "other" half of Lacan that split when Lacan made contact with the Zohar some 500 years ago and/or after Sophia died. Grahf is not considered to be the Original Lacan, the Contact, but still in essance his will. Grahf, as well as Fei's mother, was killed when he tried to merge with Fei as a child and Fei's abilities came full bloom. THIS, is when his spirit offically merged with Fei's father, Khan Wong, and formed a sort of Fei/Id relationship. Instead, Khan(Wisman)/Grahf.

I love this game, Its a #1 that will never be beaten in my book. The story is beyond many a movie, and tons of books. I Still have my first copy i per ordered at Electronics Boutique, wokked ther.. go all the swag too. 1998 was a year to remember. Gawd how I love an Anit-hero, Cecil is in there too from FFIV!

@nieves99 Funny you should say that...Xenosaga was supposed to be a reboot/remake of this series that was supposed to be a 6 game series...however due to budget cuts it only got 3 games...however I guess Fei can be seen in Xenosaga III as a child but it's only implied that it's Fei...Plus you can also fight Weltall/Id Weltall as an optional boss fight...however it's renamed Unversitas/Id Universitas in Xenosaga III

It has been so many years since any game has impacted me as much as Xenogears. I , as everyone else that played this game, was deeply intrigued by the character known as Id. I was surprised that with the outcome because I never would have thought that the protagonist and Id were one.

I can remember being younger, and when Id picks the ship up...that might be one of the best moments in my life! Best game ever, best story ever! Its too bad that the Perfect Works guide cost so much! Really, i think it took me like three playthroughs to actually understand the story completely, so amazing. There should be an anime movie version of the entire game, but it would be like twenty hours long! Goddamn what a game!

@xiayu27 I dont blame them though :P it's the best thought up story for any game ever. Starting from the Eldridge starting year 0000-all the way to where you actually start Xenogears, in year 9999. It's amazing how everything folds together. I've played the game 3 times, and only now am i beginning to put everything together. I had to read a specific site that gives you the ins and outs of everything though. That was the only way i could see things clearly! :D Weltall ID and Alpha Weltall rule!

That's not a very accurate statement. Xenogears sold 890,000 units in Japan and 400,000 in Europe and North America making it one of Squaresoft's most successful games not called Final Fantasy something. It also has four sequels/prequels.

Grahf is kinda like Fei's Id... Only, Grahf "separated" from Lacan's consciousness and body making it its own identity.... In search of power, Grahf merges with other people's bodies (Khan Wong)... Grahf originally wanted to merge with Fei's body but Khan prevented him from doing so.... Grahf is only a part of Lacan's mind / Id / existence, not Lacan himself

@Artificialraven Lacan did become Grahf because of his anguish over Sophia's death and trying to make contact with the Zohar when his Elehaym (Sophia) was already dead. Grahf is like a spirit and he possesses Khan Wong. So in a way he is like Id for Khan because he is sometimes dormant. When Grahf is dormant, Khan takes on the role of Wiseman and tries to do good.

Wiseman is Grahf/Lacan. The Wiseman persona was Kahn's last resort to keeping his promise to protect Fei. He created it and kept that portion of his alive in Wiseman until Id literally told Fei what was really going on. At that point Fei started seeing his father in Grahf. Remember his last line before he was absorbed by Grahf/Lacan"I'll never let you have him. Even if it kills me".
