  • I had someone attempt to do my hair which is really short because its just coming back from chemo. I dont want to go back to relaxing but its really tight. Is there an easier technique to use for short hair to keep the braid from unraveling?Do you use less hair but pull out more frequently to keep it fuller and can you pull out the hair on alternating sides to keep the hair looking fuller?

  • thanx 4 da video...wat type of hair do u hv on?...my hair is natural and I need 2no where I can find hair like dat

  • very informative but you should note, You can do it this way but it's not the official way, you start a tree braid without weave braids down a half or an inch dow then proceed to do treebraids , and add as you go till the end....and you dont braid till you run out you keep adding hair as long as you letting go of hair.

  • Please have better lighting. we cant really see what it looks like. but it is a good video. thanks

  • I like this video alot better that the other one. I give you five stars. I am a professional hair braider with a salon.

  • The video is really good and informative. Please add a little more lighting for the next video. How does this work if you are doing your own hair? Do you just use clips to keep the hair out of the way?

  • i am having a hard time starting the braid....can you explain or show exactly and slowly how to grab the hair and start the braid :)

  • The Girl Getting Her Hair Braided Uqly As SHIT ! She Got A Beard How Can Anyone Look Aht Her Face!

  • @Hoodprincess1999 Maybe she has PCOS? Maybe you should keep your opinions to yourself? Hmmmmm?

  • How do you end the braid so that it wont unravel?

  • good job thx!

  • wtf she have side burns

  • great tutorial, i didn't know how to do them before but i def do now, will try to do some, sometime this yr

  • I have been online for hours looking for a GOOD example, and your was great. Yeah, lighting could have been better but it was fab. Would u recommend doing human or synthetic?

  • Thanks!!!

  • thank you you're the first one i can actually understand.

  • you did a good job

  • how do you make the braids at the top of the head not visible?

  • yeah how???

    please give us an answer!

  • not visible? why do want cover it up its a nice design for the front

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you. Someone suggested I do my hair this way (they called it interlock weave) since it's so fine & thin but I couldn't picture what it was. I've had "tree braids" (singles, not cornrows) 2 weeks & they're already slipping. Definitely will try this. Thanks again!

  • interlocking is actually when you sew a pre-braided weft onto cornrows. :-0

  • I think this technique is better than the individual braiding techinque. It's much faster.

  • Good video, very helpful. Maybe next time you could have more lighting? It was a little hard to see. Thanks!

  • hi, do u think i could do tree braids on myself, or do i need someone else?? btw loved ur crotchet braid tute, am gonna try these out :)

  • I haven't tried it yet, but just wanted to say how clear your instructions are!! Great video.

  • thank you for this video and your other ones they have helped me improve my braiding. I now do my hair myself and have ppl ask me who i went to. thank you blkbuttaflies keep up the good work.

  • Clueei, I get so tired of small minded, ignorant, and just plain old mean people on youtube, such as yourself, who have nothing but negativity to spread. In the future,I would really apprectiate you keeping your small mindness off of my channel. May you find, happiness, and the ability to be kind in this new year :).

  • i tell them gurlll

  • you did i good job . I now know what tree braids are and will try it as soon as one of my friend's volunteers their head! Don't mind the haters, you do your thing! :) I agree, if you cannot say something nice, then they should stay away

  • ok so my questioin is Since you start the braid from the front and go front to back wont the weave get shorter as you you get closer to the back?

  • this is an awesome video!! I love the fact that she used colors to show how you leave out the hair..BRILLIANT!

    Thanks!

  • this iz the best video i've seen on how 2 do it ,thank you/but it was 2 dark it made my head hurt looking at it ,but still in all thank you!!!!!

  • Blkbuttaflies, I just want to thank you for posting this video!!! Yours is the only one that I've found that actually demonstrates how to tree braid with cornrows vs individuals. I've been searching for a while trying to learn how to tree braid but most of the videos I found were either advertisements for their how to videos that you have to pay for or for their salons. Thanks Again!!! You have no idea how much money you've saved me :-) You're a life saver... God Bless You!

  • whats the point in leaving the strands out??

  • It produces the look of a full sew in weave.

  • lol bit of an obvious question in hind sight! Thanks anyway chick X

  • Blk Buttaflies, thank you so much for showing us all that you don;t have to be a professional to be able to do hair! lol! You're a true inspiration to those wating to learn- But, do you add weave hair to the cornrow all the way back to the nape of the neck? Can you do this or would it look weird? I'm planning on havin afro kinky hair put in with this method soon, to bulk out my budding afro while I go natural... look forward to hearing from you. And I agree you ARE BEAUTIFUL inside and out!

  • Thank you, LuticiaBlue. Add hair all the way back to the nape of the neck. It will look weird if you don't good luck!

  • black buttafly you are beautiful

  • Percious1, I will state to you what I state in most of my vids. "I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL, I AM JUST SHARING WHAT I KNOW". Why are you complaining? This is a free tutorial. If you are interested in applying the info, my advice to you is focus on the technique not the aesthetics. If not, you are intelligent, find another " how to" vid that you deem up to your standards. Sweetie, it is just that simple. It,truly, never ceases to amaze me, how anonynimity encourages such rude responses on youtube.

  • so wut is the end reslt. i'm from boston and i've never heard of this b4. and i agree she's doing a great job expaining and demonstr8ing. if she aint a teacher she should be. but again i don't really know wut the end result is supposed to be. ad wut happens to the front

  • what do you do at the end of the cornrow? like what would you do if the natural hair still goes on?

  • I have been searching the internet for two hours to try and find info on how to do tree braids and finally I have, thanks.

Great vid, gonna try it this weekend.

  • you did a great job teaching (are you a teacher?)now i have the confidence to do it

  • so u tie it off with a rubber baand at the end?

  • yes

  • This was the best intructional video on tree braiding I have seen although you really can't see because of the lights but good job you really helped me out

  • are their different types of tree braiding?

because i have seen people do it with singles instead of cornrows. If so which is better?but i do like your techniques.

  • i though you was sapposed to braid out with it no t to the scalp

  • YOu are referring to a different technique that has the same name.

  • i love you, you helped me out so much!

  • Good video.. you just need better lighting

    I understand it better.

Just hard to see the detailing

  • I've been trying to find a video on tree braiding for such a long time!! Thank you!

  • Great video.Thanks.You have taught me how to do tree braids. Now I need to practice on someone.......... :-)

  • what did you do to the hair at the end of the cornrow to keep it in place? otherwise, good video. thanks!

  • loved the video. you're so sweet!

  • Your videos are awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to educate us about our hair. I don't do braids but I am a consumer who just had tree braiding do and I told the person that did them that there was too much hair in my head. Your video proves me right. I got the procedure done with individual braiding instead of the cornrowing and it took about 13 hours. I wish I had requested your tecnique but she said it was more expensive. Wish you lived in Chicago, lol.

  • that wird y wont u just braid normal

  • How much do you charge and where are you located, lol, you can practice on me, I am transisitoning from a relaxer to a natural, and looking for styles other than micros!

  • Hi lesliefroggymoore, check out my crochet braid video. It is an easy, low maintance style that is great for transitioning. HTH

  • I'd like to know how this would look in the back because it's a little too dark for me to see. Otherwise this is a very helpful video. Thank you.

  • Hi chocolate! Thanks. I am sorry it was to dark. As soon as I can find somebody to practice on, I will try post another video with better lighting.

  • i never seen or done tree braids like this but i guess it works

  • There are several ways to do this technique, this one works best for me. How have you seen them done?

  • i do mine as braids.almost like micros..yours look more like a crochet..but the finish product looks almost the same..so......

  • i've always wanted 2 know how 2 do this... thanks ma

  • very helpful,thanks

  • ditto thank you for the video.

  • your welcome! I hope it was helpful!

  • oh so you was jus using the yarn as a substitute for the real hair you wud use? do u think youd b abl to do a video showing how you do it all the way through using hair???

  • I have never seen this type of braiding. It's beautiful tho.

  • Thanks!

  • nice illustration......keep up the good work!

  • Thank you, sxynaone.
