  • "Hear me now, my hapless son

    Warn away all yours fears

Make good use of your brief days

Life may be grim but death is more austere

By yourself you sit and wait

By yourself you will have time to repent"

    Love that part

  • badass song

  • They promised to play this song on the new tour! So hyped, I can't imagine what it would feel like to hear this song live. It's just too Epic.

  • this is my all time favourite band and my favourite song by them, i think everyone should listen to this band because they are true musical geniuses and they deserve to be heard by everyone, im getting this song name tattooed down my arm because it is worthy enough of being a tattoo i fucking love this band they need to come to toronto SOOOOOOOON !!!!

  • So beautiful.

  • The lyrics are incredible.

  • Insomnium showed me the meaning of life.

  • This song is epic

  • I love insomnium no question about that, but i dont just love them, I need them, certain dose of insomnium every day..... but i think its just sad, man

we shouldnt strive to escape every minute of everyday in our fuckin lives

    fuck this shit

i dont enjoy my life and i dont like it

  • @13kaxno13 I agree with you a little bit.

Some people here have really shitty lives. They need to escape through music because if they didn't, they may harm or even kill themselves to escape the emotional pain. This music is very soothing, so for me, it calms me down, and drowns out the rest of my miserable life. I would rather someone be hypnotised by Insomnium for the rest of their days than dead, and that you would wish for them to kill themselves make me sad.

  • @PBSisBAD look man, i think u dont understand something,,

u dont have to explain how life can be shitty, i know what that is

in fact thats exactly what my point is

to say the least im not a happy man, ok

i know its all fucked up, and I too walk around like a zombie, drunk and listening to these masterpieces by insomnium

what im saying is that, all that, it is just sad

    I. dont. want. to. need. to hypnotise. myself.

sometimes i just wanna be one of those shortwitted bastards

  • For me Insomnium is more than just a band! I've been listening to them for quite a while now and I still feel hypnoticed and emotionaly touch every time I put one of their tracks on. There is no band that can make me unleash such an incredible amount of energi as insomnium and there is no band that can make me rise up on a gray and rainy day. Their music has become an essential part of my life! Insomnium is undoubdtely the most amazing band the world ever will see!

  • I think winter is the best time of year to listen to these guys.

  • I'm being completely honest, this is one of the best albums I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

  • WE FUCKIN LOVE INSOMNIUM!

  • I LOVE how every Finnish band is stunningly talented...

  • All their lyrics are so beatiful, cant wait to see them live. Live long Insomnium !

  • When im really feeling not good or depressed i always listen to insomnium!Every song i hear from them makes me feel good already, I dont think the world would be the same without insomnium, Thx so much!

  • goodbye Ville Vänni :(

  • I know the song is just over 10 minutes long.. BUT, I still think it's too short!

  • insomnium <3

  • Wow, 18 years of my life without hearing this awesomeness.

  • How was i able to live until today without this song -.-

10 minutes in another world! Epic

  • I love this

  • everytime i wanna escape the reality i just pick one of insomnium's songs and close my eyes and im far, far away from earth and all of its shit :)

  • @PaTZi300 i can see that happening in these guys this is truly remarkable music funny i never heard of these guys before kind of remind me of novembers doom shit i get lost in these songs who need drugs..people ask what are you on and i say insomnium....lol

  • @PaTZi300 I don't think this would help you escape from reality, this song IS reality itself, at least for some of us...

  • @PaTZi300 I am with you on that one! Insomnium quickly became my favorite band years ago and they still are today. I hope they deliver something very different from their previous releases on the next record

  • "O father, hear these words, your son is not made for this world" This line gives me goosebumps O.O

  • How do you dislike this? :o

  • @xzidez Exactly my friend coz immortals wont ever know the meaning of death!

  • How can a human have written these divine lyrics....i mean What the hell, its like its straight from the bible or smthin

    HAIL Insomnium

  • @DevilOnHog finnish melancholy, nothing else:)

  • @DevilOnHog i'd take insomnium over the bible any day

  • OMFG insomnium made my choice so easy...

My friend asked me : would you rather be deaf or blind?

    I said Insomnimum!

  • if u like insomnium listen to noumena ! just do it :)

  • This song is one epic journey :)

  • I find this incredibly easy to fap to

  • insomnium is good melodic metal

  • This song gives me the biggest eargasm.

  • I cannot get enough Insomnium and Kalmah. Two of my favorite bands ever.

  • @vivaladeadman Finland has the best metal.

  • It'shard ; very hard

But this music let feel good.

  • Insomnium. Cause of, or cure to, Insomnia?

  • holy shit those 10 minutes felt like 3

  • Some of you might not know what is the growling all about, but do take time and read their lyrics, very nicely written pieces. \m/

  • Best lyrics

  • I like to listen to this song before I go to bed. Makes me feel warm and cuddly inside. Pleasent dreams my metal-friends! :D

  • @Kwarum i'm doing that right now! i love to put one of Insomnium's 10 minuteish epic masterpieces and just think about life and lull myself to sleep. ATWW is such a brilliant album.

  • This song is so.. breathtaking.

  • this song is so chill *.*

  • wtf is he saying?

  • @day123day LOL!

  • I think I'm in love. I haven't found a band this good in a long time.

  • @TheZairae me too ^^

  • amazing stuff.

  • Most epic beginning of song I've ever heard...

  • omnium gatherum

  • i cant understand metal lyrics XD although metal my favorite genre

  • Where did you get that picture? I want it!

  • Anyone else cry, or come close to it, when it gets to 8:30?

This band... Is so amazing, brings out emotions i've never even felt before..

  • @bbesbk And I thought I was the only one. Everything about this song is wow. Great song, waiting for the new album's release! Keep it up Insomnium :D

  • the way this song ends.. its like the person dies, and the quiet music is like their funeral or memory, and then it fades to rain.. like the end of the long story.. its beautiful. masterpiece.

  • Quite possibly the best piece of Death Metal ever composed.

  • what's the name of this album?

  • @suckapunch565 Above The Weeping World

  • Speechless :X

  • what album is this off? fucking amazing.

  • @jockseery "Above the weeping world"

  • So beautiful song <3

Poetic Lyrics, perfect music, impressive growls

    its epic

  • 7:13 something so awesome. i love this song!

  • if you enjoy check also 'memocrusher - eternal shadows'

  • They have such pretty music

  • I love this song, my favorite off of this album. But man, whenever it gets to 8:40, I just stop whatever I'm doing and become lifeless, its fuckin weird, and I love it.

  • INSOMNIUM's soul will never die....

  • A nice fact about Insomnium is that all 4 band members have done a master study :O so they make really nice music and the have :P brains something some bands miss XD

  • the best :) it is true art !

  • @eurodude101 its true i talk to bands from finland and they speak alot better them me I MEAN ALOT they even understand slang words

  • This band, Kalmah, and Windir are my favourites right now.

  • ** The Music Behind This Band Is Absolutely Sublime **

  • This has been one of my favourite Insomnium songs for a long time. I read on their website that the singer wants to become a fantasy novelist... If his books will be as ethereal and poetically depressing as his lyrics, I cant wait :]

  • still, u havent listed Swallow The Sun in your "also good" list. then i started to wonder, and now i know. that's cuz StS is way more than good.

  • @theevilnen Yes, StS are a great band indeed! I've been listening to them since their "Hope" album came out.

They're definitely one of my favorite bands. If you like StS you should try listing to the band "In Mourning". They're very similar to StS, just not as doomy though.

  • @NecrodudeTGR YES! In Mourning is an amazing band. In the Failing Hour is such a kickass song, same with The Black Lodge.

Reminds me a lot of Insomnium, actually.

  • @theevilnen "Way more good"... Alrighty then. I'll remember to add that to my "Proper Grammar Book".

  • love the rain in the end :D

  • i was wrong about this band =) They are epic! =)

  • I'm taking this song to my grave

  • Fantastic song, deep and emotional. It's like a calm island of perfection in the vast ocean of tragic, awful and shallow music that is made this days and which is, dunno why, very popular. (o_0)

  • If there were more bands like this I might think more of humanity

  • @bladecrusher01 and 744 people cringe at your spelling.

  • @TakeAction13

Oh yeah I see it now. It's without the G. Well quess what... How should I even now?! I don't listen to that miserable music..

  • omg christmas eve...in the groves of death...not a better song in the world to put me at peace to help me sleep faster...the last song i hear tends to be the last thing on my mind at night as well as the first in the morning and even right before i wake up...im glad its this song...zzzzzz...zzzzzz

  • @sweetsongman1 wow, you're like my best friend.

  • @PhillipWilliamReid95 hello best friend

  • I think I've just found myself lost paradise

  • I wanna kill everything...

  • imho is Insomnium the best melodeath band ever.

also good are Kalmah, Belakor, Noumena, Before the dawn, Mygrain and Mercenary

  • @diehardusa Add the band Lunarsea to that list.

I've just recently discovered this band and they're quickly becoming a top fave of mine.

I'd recommend listening to the song "In A Firmness Loop Day" from their album Route Code Selector.

    It's so gooood!

  • @NecrodudeTGR If you're talking about melodeath, you should also remember about Wintersun. Their sound is sometimes similar to viking, prog and folk metal, but that makes Jari Maenpaa's band unusual

  • @NecrodudeTGR hiya!! i heard lunarse......that waz amazing man.....!!!! but i'm sad it hasn't got many views........but the band is excellent...!!!!!!

  • @diehardusa I totaly would put children of bodom and in flames...my opinion!!!:)

  • @hsmetalhead In Flames are swedish

  • @Heretic555Anthem666 So What???

  • @hsmetalhead nothing, no need to raise your ''voice''

  • @Heretic555Anthem666 HAHAHAHA!!!sorry dude hahahaha!!!!!!:P...anyway amazing song amazing band!!!!\m/

  • @hsmetalhead it shure is :)

  • @hsmetalhead Yes, Bodom is very nice too.

  • @diehardusa and i would strongly recommend omnium gatherum, check out nail and son's thoughts for some awesome finnish melodeath tracks. OG are fuckin amazing.

  • @diehardusa if I may, also check out Alcest...but yes Insomnium is in a different class; so good!

  • @diehardusa

you should check out obtenebris, mors principium est and quo vadis ;)

  • @diehardusa

Try Solution.45 and Scar Symmetry. You'll fall on your ass and stay there drooling all over yourself.

  • @diehardusa Dont forget Gardenian! check out a ong by them called "funeral" by personal fav melodeath song of all time!

  • I agree they have underrated lyrics. Maybe they're poets first and then musicians, hey maybe the music is just for show! I can't tell, good work!

  • Amazing.As always

  • I used to dabble in various death metal listening, some where ok but not great. Then somehow, on my myspace, years ago, THEY sent me an invite (I guess because of the other type bands I had) and well, I've to this day never heard a a better band. These guys are 100% my style of music. Other good ones are NOUMENA, KATATONIA, AGALLOCH, KALMAH, AMON AMARTH Probably my favs right now, however INSOMNIUM sets the standard

  • Good lyrics and a good band, thats what im talking about.

  • exellent

  • Yeah, as a finnish I'm proud that our country have thesekind of bands with talent and passion.

  • Comment removed

  • wow they r as good as opeth

  • @666irshaad I actually enjoy them much more...not to start any arguments, just my personal tastes ;) A more consistent melodic sound maybe....

  • best melodic death metal band i have ever heard.

  • dude I cant just enderstand why they didn't do a world tour. Insomnium got fans all around te world.

  • @metallmann231 INSOMIA SUCKS !!!!!

  • @PEHS2013 "Insomia" may suck, but Insomnium kicks fuckin ass.

  • this is the last song i hear each night before i go to sleep. it ends any day happily no matter what happpens almost

  • @sweetsongman1 i feel with you bro !

  • great music

  • Damn I gotta have the CD somewhere. "Above the Weeping World" is my alltime favorite album - go buy it!

Love to play guitar or bass along to it... really satisfying!

  • fucking epic song and band.

  • Insomnium is the greatest band I've ever heard. And this is only the fourth song I've heard from them

  • staring abscent-mindedly, saying the lyrics, lost in divine thoughts, most peacefull moments of my life U_U

  • This song and this band saved my life; they are a gift to mankind.

  • Comment removed

  • Can't get enough of these guys. Amazing music they have such a melancholy style if that is even possible. But they still make everything seem good and bring a resolution because it will never stay night forever and sometime the sun has to rise.

  • This song could last an hour and still be great!

  • I have yet to find a band, or quite honestly, a living poet who can match the beauty of these lyrics - or the lyrics of ANY Insomnium song. It's absolutely incredible that a band's lyrics can take you from the utter despair (upon realizing the utter futility of the very concept of life), and bring you back around to a humble, yet simple, sense of purpose.

All on top of some of the most fucking brutal and amazing music I've ever heard.

  • @Burton4892

    Well said sir =)

  • Comment removed

  • @Burton4892 i agree with you, but if this is one of the most brutal you've heard, then you obiously haven't heard norwegian black metal and brutal and technical death metal

  • @Burton4892 dude you are so fucking right, they have such beauty in their songs, its so sorrowful but it makes you feel so good. This is music right here people. This is what its about

  • Equivalence+Down With The Sun combo is still #1 for me but this is fantastic too. I can't believe I missed this originally when add Insomnium to my playlist.

  • 1 time every day since 4 jears: INSOMNIUM!

  • jizz.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

  • I find it ironic that these Finnish songwriters have such a poetic grasp of English. They understand the language better than 99% of native English speakers.

  • @eurodude101 where's the irony?
