There's a great story about the filming of this video. The linedancers were taking a smoke break outside and this ned kid came up and said, 'You're a nun. You're not supposed to smoke.' To which the 'nun' replied, 'fuck off'
Sadly missed very wonderful band. Was lucky enough to see them twice and was so impressed both by the band and the amount of red wine that disappeared on stage. I always loved the great way Emma played her guitar.
I own a record store. Out of the many thousand albums I own, The Great Eastern has sat for the past eight (!) years in my top ten list. I love it more than Rubber Soul, but not as much as The White Album (or the 3rd VU album). It's funny how far in front of Peloton this album is: in some ways it seems like a completely different band.
Oh- and when the DGs toured in Canada last, a roadie gave me a giant Great Eastern poster after the show in Toronto. It's hanging in my store. I miss them.
I agree, It is amazing to see know little of them people know. I for one am glad to know of them though. I have heard every album, including live ones and I must say it never gets boring. And yes, once again their voices are amazing.
Along with TFC and B&S The Delgados are among the greatest EVER Scottish bands. You cannot knock tunes and talent this great. Lesser bands should listen and then give straight up.
Hey guys, I just want to express my appreciation for your music. Although I wish you were given proper recognition among the masses, please know that the ones that have heard your music are truly touched by the results of your efforts. And in some ways the lack of more commercial success makes all of you seem more genuine & endearing. Granted this doesn't feed your stomachs, in some ways it makes you true artists in my mind. Best wishes to you all & your Indie label: Chemikal Underground.
One of the most wonderful moments in my life was this Delgados concert near Toulouse. I even didn't know their faces but this evening was a magical storm. This is the way I discovered "No danger" and especially "Keep on breathing", and I know I'll never forget this.
I'd go along with the comment below. This track is a lost gem, and I love that video - so surreal but with great charm - and it makes me glad I live where I do!
Rarely seen as video shot for Mercury award show, not with general distribution in mind. (It's the CD single version of the song). It was planned, shot & finished in 2 weeks in time for the award ceremony.
This is my favourite song in the world! It always leaves me tingling! It is a complete masterpiece! The delgados have been very under rated I would even dear put them next to Pink Floyd and other greats in the talent stakes. Thanks for posting!
Glad to get the confirmation! =)

An ex girlfriend stole the cd from me some 9 years ago... First listen since and I still know the words - great song from an underappreciated band.

where could i get this version with children chorus? i only can find the album version, but it's different than this.
antonibz 3 years ago
You'll pick the single version up on e-bay pretty easily; for the UK less than £3 including p+p normally. [Not that I'm selling].
