  • @domdide5000 actually, Iam not wrong. the positioning that you are speaking of as defined by bench competition rules does make you come down to touch your chest past 90 degrees. Although this is powerlifting. Powerlifters use mechanical advantage to try and move as much weight as possible, not try and isolate the muscle for maximum growth like strong like bull is doing. Also, you should never "lock out" this destroys your joints. On top of that, by arching the back it decreases the range

  • Are you right handed or something your right arm seems to want to giv out and your not touching your chest with the bar. technique comes before the highest weight you can get up. id say try a little less weight so you can at least go all the way to your chest at least six times. 4-8 reps more weight is better then 8-10 reps more weight not good form

  • Im 142lbs 5'7 tall. My max bench is 210 and getting stronger. You pretty strong, but you need to take multi-vitamins, protein, and food, lots of food. You need to eat at least every 2 to 3 hours. From the looks of it you should be weighing around 165 - 175 good job tho

  • In 2010 summer I was 5'9" 140ish lbs and maxed out flat bench @ 275 lbs and squat 315 lbs. had an traffic accident in October 2010 and fractured my knee now i gained 20+ lbs and i can barely bench 205 lbs.

  • actually alot of these comments talk about going down further to increase using your chest. As long as his elbows are reaching 90 degrees he is completing the exercise. Going past will put unnecessary strain on the delts and increase risk of injury. In fact there is no proof that going past 90 will get a greater muscle development. You go strong like bull!

  • @mickymac1313 actually your wrong, going pat 90 degrees uses more of your chest because the main focus of your chest is t the bottom of the movement whereas the top portion where arms become locked is a push from your triceps more, hence why his chest is quite small, the bench press IS a movement from locked arms to the chest as defined by bench press competition rules. also pressure can be relieved from the deltoids by pinching the scapula together, and arching the back slightly.

  • You are right when you said not to touch your chest because you want complete resistance and touching your chest will let some weight off for a spit second but DAMN! You didn't go even half way down! This exercise is for chest.. The farther you go down the more chest it is and farther you go up the more triceps it is ... Your basically working straight triceps the way your doing it...
