I heard my piano teacher yesterday, She said to a student: "No no! In the baroque period no play rubato". -.- Common teacher...If you read enough about the history and more about the baroque period was very traditional and elegant, break the normal tempo of a passage coz a Harpsichord isnt very expresive, so the performers, they made larger or shorter a passage for get a piano or forte for example. Never Believe in an Ignorant Teacher. Read and play with feelings not thinking.

Max Reger's transcription for organ is even better in some ways.
