Much as I love this great song--and most of Steeleye's repertoire--I have to say that I find it a little disconcerting that the entire song is completely devoid of a single drum lick--not even a teeny little paradiddle, LOL.
According to Keith Dewhurst, this track and most of 'Please to See the King' was used as the music in his play 'Corunna!' played by SS. It opened on 18th May 1971 at The Royal Court which ties in nicely with the date of this recording. I wish I'd seen it!
I remember Maddy dancing up a storm at Free Trade Hall Manchester to this one.
It was sad to see Tim Hart passing away recently, I recall he came on stage in a skin tight tiger skin style pants and high heeled boots. The girls screamed - and the lads chuckled l.
I'm I guess what you could call a late-bloomer Steeleye fan. I'm only 20 (and American) and was introduced to the band by my dad. While studying in London last semester I was lucky enough to see them on their 40th anniversary tour. Maddy still dances up a storm!

Still a treat--thanks for loading it!

Yee-haw! That's a jig for all time. Them old Irishmen must have known that the electric bass was gonna come along.

@soaringvulture Englishmen, too (it's an English song: there's a small clue in the first line....).

You're welcome! This is one of my favorite Steeleye songs, so I had to put it up. If I ever get the whole album I'll post that as well.
