No Audio Output Device Is Installed - The Solution

"an error occurred during the installation of this device"  It says that the sigmatel codec was not installed! I uninstalled it due to the feedback and disabled it etc and then wanted to reinstall and update the driver (the feedback was horrible and squealing). Now it is completely gone? I am running Vista.

@Feddoms @PoliteTia ..jst had this same problems hours ago.i did not panic coz i know i didn't do anything on my laptop. & i know we can now search anything under the sun on the internet so i searched for this problem right away. tried sveeral solutions id found but didn't work until i came along this video. my laptop is Acer windows vista & my audio driver is realtek.. followed everything, at 1st it said "software my not work properly code 10" but aftr a couple of mins, it works. thanks so much

Dear Feddoms

I have a client, with Vista Hom ed. This fix did not resolve the issue

Also, un-installing, rebooting, and re-istalling does not resolve this issue

The error code is 10.

Client has an HP Pavillion dv6500 Notebook

Manufactuer of the speakers is ADS Instant HDTV PCI

BTW... ADS does not have a driver that will work on this Vista OS

@TheFridayNightGamer sigma tel is for dell computers. other types of computers have different types of audio drivers. i have a realtek driver and im on a compaq computer.

I had to jump to the device manager (from the control panel), uninstall the sound media controller, scan for hardware, re-download and install the driver, then browse to assign the driver (from c:/dell/drivers/r99254 for me).

guys, if you have some problem as gabelo01, and didnt get any updates or anything, the volume just stopped randomly. try restarting your computer. lol it happened to me and i just restarted my computer and it works! im not sure for you, but give it a try. (i didnt do any changes before i restarted).

Indeed, making sure that the actual devices and drivers are properly installed and loaded is one solution.

Sometimes however, the computer decides not to load your device, due to incompatibilities with some other component. I had this problem when I installed a new gfx card. Luckily I found the solution in the Nvidia forums.

Go to the computer BIOS (hold down the key to enter 'Setup' when you restart) and change the 'Onboard Audio' settings. This might fix your problem. Good luck

@mrsnobody123 bro i had the same problem and fixed it! watch the ending part of this video! look in your device manager for anything with the word audio or sound, mine was under "other devices" and you right click the thing with a yellow ! mark, and you click disable or enable whichever one and a pop up should come to upgrade drivers and what not, and you follow those steps youll be lead to a website by windows you download the drivers and install them, than restart PC and your good to go!

@marcopolo1012 If you do not see SigmaTel, then just try the process with a different audio driver, whatever your computer has on it already. I only specified SigmaTel, because that's the one that worked for me. good luck

@Feddoms thanks so much.. i followed the steps on this video.. at first it gave me a message " software may not work properly code10" so im kinda frustrated but after i closed the message box, i saw something is working on the icon on the taskbar... so i waited and after a min or 2.. message popped up "Realtek driver is ready to use" and the red cross on the volume icon is gone.. now i played again this vid and im hearing it.. a million thanks to you....
