It's much better than the Game Boy version, and it's not just because it's in color. It plays better too. Plus, this version has Macho Man Randy Savage in it, and it wasn't released by LJN! HOWEVER, it's not better than Steel Cage Challenge on the Game Gear/Sega Master System.
Wow. I'm glad I had the Sega Genesis version of this game, because the Game Gear version looks like crap. And I don't just mean graphically, because let's face it: you EXPECT handheld systems to have worse graphics than standard consoles. But anyway, the gameplay on the GG version looks about the same as the console versions, but the graphics, sound effects, and MIDI music are obviously much better (about as good as you could get for the era) on Sega and SNES.
@sjm757 Interesting points. I owned the SNES and Game Boy versions of this game. Acclaim tried to make the same game for every system, with various differences, which is why they look and kinda play similar.
Both this and the Game Boy version of Raw are horrible, and I mean even by old-school handheld wrestling game standards. Superstars and Superstars 2 on Game Boy are way better than this game, as far as classic WWF handhelds go. Now, the SNES/Genesis/32X Raw on the other hand, that's the one of the best old-school wrestling games and still a blast to play today for fans of that era.
@JMaxwell85 Absolutely - though it's nice to show people these games for the sheer horror. I look forward to the day when my kids (when I have them) start complaining about the "terrible graphics" on their Playstation 4 or whatever...I'll show them the games that I grew up playing. ON THE COMMODORE F'N 64! :)
This is odd to watch even from someone who still owns a copy of this game. The Emu is Kega Fusion, I do believe or a Kega Rip. Not a bad Sega CD Emu though. But yes, the Finishers were SOOOOOO hard to pull. You actually had to include the start button and multiple pause/unpause/pause/un/p/un...you get the picture. great post though.
This is awesome. I've never played this game. It looks fun to play. I downloaded WWF Royal Rumble, WWF Super Wrestlemania, and WWF Wrestlemania Arcade 32X from Gamefabrique. They're pretty fun to play when you're bored. They're small files too. I don't like the Wrestlemania Arcade though. It's like the old arcade game with the fighting Snowman clayfighting game..It's too weird.lol
I find these games hilarious. If for any other reason, it's fun to see WHERE we came from. In a world where game controllers have more buttons than people have fingers, this had two buttons, the START, and the D-pad.
It's funny to think: I bought Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 for the DS, and all I could think of when playing it was...WWF Superstars for the original Game Boy was more entertaining than this shit.

@sjm757 And Graphics Sound Effects Nor MDI Music Make A Game
gerryf964 1 year ago
@gerryf964 I would just like to make a couple of points.
1. "The Genesis ain't a portable"?! Well, thanks for informing the guy who actually OWNED one, Captain Obvious!
2. I never said graphics, sound effects, and music "make" a game. I only said the Genesis version's were better.
3. I've been gaming for 24 years, so don't even bother coming off at me like you're some kind of expert, when your balls haven't even dropped yet.
Any other smartass remarks you'd care to have me rip apart?

Agreed, but I found it to be easier to play and a bit more enjoyable than the first Smackdown games on the DS.

KEGA is the only Sega emu needed for anything. I just wish there was a PSP version, though.
