@KyriaNunNuit@KyriaNunNuit Ah, there is a drop-down menu. (Mystery solved ;) and the double-post is no more. And THANK YOU, ravenhaven14 for posting all these delicious things. : )
It's a pity Poirot didn't look the other way with this one as well (as he did in Murder on the Orient Express). Although I never will agree with "frontier justice", nor the death sentence either for that matter, oddly enough, I still feel that the girl's true parents were good people and that much more harm was done by their demise than by the deeds they committed. Lady Boynton was a monster and the maid didn't really have to play along. She could have quit and gone to ground any time...
@KyriaNunNuit These stories are about the observation of human nature(the good, the bad, the ugly) and the choices people make. They aren't about what choices the characters would've, should've, or could've made..
@BooBoo0818 Yes, I agree totally, and that is part of what makes Agatha Christie's work so brilliant. One can still wish though that the author would have given the story a different twist. At least I do, occasionally, with some stories and movies. I guess I'm just sentimental at heart and although I love the way the authors plumb the depths of human nature and the desperately heroic deaths show characters off in the best possible light at times, a part of me still yearns for a happier ending.
I think it's wonderfully done. Too bad the parent's killed her. Just for their daughter's sake alone. Abuse does linger. Excellent acting in the last bit. I thought Priot would find out it was one of the kids and let it go somehow. :( / Thank you Raven.
I liked the 'blockbuster touch' the producers/director tried to intill to this film although i missed the more accurate representation of the decade the Christie stories take place in the early seasons of the sereis....
I'm not familiar with the original story, or the Peter U version but i thought this was great. I have to say, she kinda deserved it. Can't wait to read the book.
Well! Just reminds me of how parent are so protective over their children. I loved it, even if it is not how it is written. I have yet to read the book, but I enjoyed the scenery and the great build.
I was a little disappointed to see the ending so similar to that of "Death on the Nile", with the guilty couple offing each other off, thinking Christie was using a same dénouement again, but reading up on the novel plot on Wikipedia, I realise the murder plot was entirely changed by the scenarists. Lady Boynton was not murdered by the real parents of one of her adopted, abused children but by a former inmate from the prison where she used to work.
@goodstorylover I guess they changed it to get the audience something different because they made this into a movie before. If they recreate it, people would know what would happen and already guess who did it.
Hi, well, I think I am flexible enough, I just do not like the storyline here, that`s all. Clearly proves how difficult it is to keep up with Christie.
@Therushe Did you ever see the new version of Murder in Three Acts? I hated when they change a few key facts of the original. I would explain why but if I did I ruin the movie for those who have not seen it.
The story of the nun just seems like it a sub-plot thrown in to fill time. I don't see what purpose she has in the overall plot.

They did a really good job with this story, even though they COMPLETELY changed the ending.

Some day, Poirot will assemble all of the suspects in one room and say, "None of you did it."

I don't like this version. The solution is too much different from the novel.
I prefere the another film with Peter Ustinov and Lauren Bacall.

Poirot should have kept his mouth shut. Who cares about who killed such a tyrant? She deserved it. And the poor couple died... Idiot Poirot

1:20 look carefully it's a knife or a chisel of some sort. 1:50 Poirot says it's the pen. Anyhow that woman deserved to die.
