@arnotkaling Angkor Watt was commissioned by King Suryavarman II and built by slaves, masons, sculptors and other labourers, which is believed to 37 years to build the Hindu temple, but after his death the Hindu gods were discredited and The Angkor Watt became a Buddhist temple.
@Grinspoonful the khmers can now say its a buddhist temple but it will never be for buddha. The original purpose was for Hindu Gods. A similar thing happened in Constantinople with the conversion of a Byzantine Church to a Mosque.
@Grinspoonful yes it was. I don't know much about the history of Ankor Wat but I know that its a representation of Mount Meru designed on Chola architecture. The central towers represent the 5 mountains, the walls and moat the surrounding moutain ranges and ocean with the access to the upper areas of the mountain progressively more exclusive.
Vietnamese?? How can Suravarman fight Vietnam on that time if Champa was there, and Vietname didnt exist yet.. how? cause Jayavarman came after Seravarman, and Vietname still didnt exist in the Khmer Empire.. so..... i think they mess up on that part haha.. not enless im wrong??
Can anyone tell me where can i get this DVD? thanks
