Well i typically buy games brand new but used games for me are generally bought when they are old so if i can't buy used games i cannot make any money trading them in and i cannot buy any older games. There is also a rumour about not being able to play borrowed games within this a that would be terrible as i like to sometimes borrow a game for a couple of days to either complete it or get a taste of what it's like,a nd if i like it i will then buy the game. It is a very scary future.

Actually, in retrospect I'm not sure why I said we'd eat things, since we sort of have a policy not to eat things people send in, just in the event someone wants us dead for some unknown reason. So don't send in edible cats. Exploding cats are still okay, though.

Plus, if I wanted to play one of my games at a friend's house, would I have to bring my entire console and hook it up there. Game/video rental stores and Gamestop would loose a lot of business as well. While I understand their intent, I think that gamer culture and business would suffer if this happens.

So it won't played Used games, does that mean it won't play any game? When you put it into your Xbox, it becomes Used. Making it a used game. I only buy Used Games, well, every once in a while I buy new, but generally I buy used. And I'm not a big Microsoft fan so the Xbox 720 doesn't affect me.
@EvilResel The running theory is that the discs themselves would have unique serials associated with them, and they'd have to be unlocked using codes found within the packaging of the new game, maybe with an online activation (so they couldn't be activated multiple times). Once again, this is just a rumor, they haven't officially announced this will be happening.
@samisalamii They'll probably make you 'register' the new game that you buy through the XBox, like a PC steam game. That way, it can't be played on any other XBox.

Surely the fact that someone has bought a game means that money has already gone to tge developer. Demanding money from used game sales is like getting money twice for every purchase, which just doesnt make sense.
The main issue I see is that after a while, all major retailers will stop selling a certain game to make room for new ones. There are longsellers like Mario Kart but most games will disappear after at least 6 months. How will I find new copies of those games? People will realize that and sell unopened copies of great but not so popular games on eBay for x times the price. How does this help the gaming industry?
Also, how can your console tell if a read only medium is unused or not?
But about the brainpickage, I can describe it with one word: RAGE! It's very consumerism-oriented and very unecological, which makes me wanna facepalm. But, then again, I'm not going to buy a new console for a while, so my opinion is not going to be voiced that well...
