I love the video. To me, both lightbars were excellent. On my vehicle, I have a Whelen Liberty 8-head LED lightbar w/ takedown & alleys. Rear window: Signal Mini Phantom Max LED. Brake/Reverse light flashers & corner strobes for the front & rear reverse lights. Working on getting LED strobes for my grill.
thanks :) I may eventually end up going completely LED for all of the obvious benefits, but prob not any time soon - not just because they're more expensive, but even more so the simple fact that I really like the rotators for primary warning ... :D
I know I've asked you a million questions over a few videos here but I thought i saw in this video in one of the stills of Rogue that you had a laptop mounted?
no problem :) Yeah, I do have a laptop mount in each car. I don't use it all the time, it's more of a convenience then neccessity - I have an adapter plugged into my car stereo that I can plug into the laptop, and have most of my CD's loaded onto it so I have all of my music, in different playlists, available. I've also worked on some mapping etc for fire/rescue calls, but don't have much working right now. Currently, my laptop needs some repairs so I am not using it in the car ...
So which is you're favorite.. I tend to lean towards Rogue because of the dual siren, but I also like Ivys lighting a little better, higher visibility is always a plus.. I may have a way for you to get an LED bar for a lot cheaper than you think, I'll do some checking into that for you if you'd like?
well, I'd say I like them both for different reasons...Rogue, well, he has the dual sirens, strobes, lots of lights, etc...Ivy is a little "cleaner" and I can take the lights down and have a "regular car"...They both have their pros and cons (I think I've decided that I'm gonna have to add a second siren to Ivy at some point, though :D )
That makes sence, just hard to beat the dual sirens.. did you want me to look into an LED bar and pass the info along to you? (I used to work armed security and my boss also sells a lot of equiptment to the Wichita police department).
Actually, Rogue's flasher is pretty much the same, In this video, I'vy's is more impressive because of the angle I was at when I filmed it, but in reality, I actually like that way I've got Rogue's set up better - when I hit position 3 on my pursuit switch it triggers a relay so that the cornerlights flash with/against the headlights. In Ivy, it's still just a regular flasher on the corners at this point (will change soon, though, if I get the chance)
whichever one I'm driving as norm that day ... because of having to switch my gear, map book, etc back and forth, I'll drive one car for a few days/weeks, with everything in it, then switch to the other one for a while. So if a call comes in, it's whichever one I've chosen already. However, I tend to drive Rogue more as a daily driver, with Ivy as kind of a "special occasions" car, but not exclusively. And Rogue's waiting for new brakes right now, so Ivy's the default ...
I see you are a fan of clear domes and red filters on the lightbars (I think I used correct terms :P ) I've always thought that the clear dome would kind of make the light being emitted look worse. What are you opinions on it?
I like the "cleaner" look of the clear domes, and the larger variety of options with filters, but I am considering changing the outer domes on Rogue's MX to red, not sure. I think the red dome allows more color, since any light shinging through the dome would be red, instead of just the focused rotator mirror ... not really sure ...
Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. Like, it almost looks like rogues bar is coming through with some amber in the front, but that may just be the vid. I just think that when you have the red dome, it puts more red through as you said.

why use red and white lightbars??not blue and red??
msas12 3 years ago
in michigan, blue is limited to use by law enforcement. fire can only use red, with clear/amber added as auxilliary
