HCDDWarhero.... if you need light power similar to a car lamp then look into something like a Fenix TK40. It runs on 8 batteries (get NiMH rechargeables or Eneloops) and can put out something like 650 lumens. It's a pretty big light though. If you want something smaller look into the 4- aa cell LD40.
I am looking for a flashlight kind of like this, but my main need for it is going to be long range wide light. Kind of like a car headlight. Can this do long range light and still be bright? Maybe 100 - 300 yrds of light?
I think a better choice for you would be the Streamlight Ultrastinger, 295 Lumens with 75000 candlepower, its a bit different from these and sort of funny looking, but maybe something to look into.. but a light like you are talking about is going to be hard to find... 300 yards is a long way away for a handheld light to hit and light up like you are talking about.
@HCDDWarhero A good choice would be the Maglite 2D cell LED. It's a bit bigger than the polystinger but it has 114 lumens and covers up to 298 metres. I have the 3D LED and it's a great light, very bright and covers a great distance. It's also considerably cheaper than the Streamlight, but is not rechargeable, instead takes 2 D cell batteries. Plus, you have the ability to focus and flood the beam by twisting the head, a feature the polystinger lacks. Check it out, just a suggestion.

I don't think this light would be bright enough. 300yrds is pretty far. Sounds like you need a HID light. The Streamlight HID litebox would work.
