If you think about the flashlight as the sun, that means the sun revolves around Craig. So, sorta, the universe revolves around Craig! :D (I know that makes no sense whatsoever, but I'd like to think it does :3)
You know what guys? This is what I love about Craig Ferguson! He continues on with his show even if there are some problems, like roof leaks, light outages, he's not like those stupid TV hosts who are like "Oh no! there's a problem with whatever there is, I have to stop the show, lets stop the show!"
This is the reason why I watch this show! Craig NEVER GIVES UP! HE NEVER STOPS HIS SHOW!
@senseter1988 They used backup generators. There isn't enough energy in the generators to also run the lights, but Craig didn't care and made the best improv EVER!
i love this show but why not have a guest band on every week pay them nothing just being on late night tv should be enough i would do it i think many local bands would too
Dude when the light is shining at him at just the right angle he looks ezactly like Anthony Hopkins, really go back and check it out you can see it best right around 0:50 seconds in
@0tyham your video description is wrong. As you can see and tell from Craig's look, the Salman Rushdie Interview was pre-recorded. So the power only went out once, not twice.. (they showed the other interview in between)
This show is taped in a building with a bunch of other studios, so it's likely one of the others did something killed a circuit (or multiple circuits) for the main lights. So, there was still power for cameras.
TV studios have *huge*, very powerful lights, because powerful cameras need lots of light, and to keep the studio from getting hot the lights have to be hung high (so they have to be even *more* powerful).
FYI...the power didn't actually come on for the Rushdie interview...that was pretaped. Hence the wry face that Craig makes and the laughs from the audience after he says that it was a good thing the the lights came back on the for the Salman Rushdie interview.
duh. i meant what do you think is bs? that the power went out? cause it's happened before. they had to use a big light from the floor so he could do the monologue. his show isn't a huge budget show. they run with whatever happens.
I know for a fact that the producer is down on the floor not in a control room.
This isn't a primetime television show you realize right? It airs @ like 12:30 @ night...they wouldn't have a massive budget. They only have one on-screen talent, they use cheap, cheesy puppets, the roof leaks, and the network didn't bother to switch it to HD for almost a year after everything else. They probably don't have a state of the art set-up.
And the reason for you visiting this video and leave not one but 2 comments is what? You have no life? Alright...check...go on about your business loser

i like craig ferguson, i could see him taking over for letterman, ferguson is pretty funny, i never used to like him but realized it was because i hadnt actually sat down and watched him, lol classic stuff!!!
what is a flashlight?? does it only flash light for 1 second like a camera flash? why do they call it a flashlight if the light never flashes? the light stays on without blinking or flashing at all.
the first models or concepts for flashlights did not last as long as they do now. So, back then, when a flashlight was turned on it only lasted for a very limited amount of time. Thus the term "Flash" light was appropriate at the time. Technology has improved so much that the name doesn't correlate with the device.
I don't know. We don't have those things up here in Canada. Hope to see one someday though. Hope they don't melt our igloos. Looks like they take a lot of fire to get them going. I'm soo confused!!!!
Actually n0tyham, I think the Salman Rushdie interview was prerecorded from a couple of weeks ago when Mr. Rushdie also did the "Party At Elton John's House" skit. With as much trouble Craig has with the power and lights in that studio he should do a show with just candlelight. He would be able to pull it off.

in short words: you are right
the studio lighting have an own circuit for each studio, and the cameras control rooms and monitors are working from another circuit.

They likely had "some" power.
Emergancy lighting is a likely required in public spaces.
But not enough juice for all the huge studio lights.
In any case, Craig is the best late night host by far.
He's more fun to watch then the guests a lot of the time.
Love him!
