well.... it's not that she is eating first, she is the leader(in this situation) because she is making the dog wait calmly for his food, and it's up to her when the dog gets it's food.
So if leader goes first, why dont you eat your dog's kibble first? Also since positioning is so important, please Never lie on the floor because a standing dog will be dominant over you. It may also think that you are a dead carcass! LMAO
I guess this person has never read the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior's position statement on the use of dominance in dog training. Or, Karen Pryor's 2009 article, "Debunking Dominance Theory."
OMG, I just realized that I own one of your books. Bought it maybe 10 years ago. You wrote it 14 years ago. I totally don't get this video, or your mantra here at all!!!!!
This is hilarious! For a start wolves let their young eat first. Secondly this is just so stupid, you have attention 'cause your getting food out, der!
Hilarious . . . I just asked my dogs and none of the three knew what was a human plate sorry... not sure advocating the use of grapes is particularly sensible either . . . .
Everyone one of those dogs in the beginning looks stressed. So, if you can get five dogs stressed just because they're sitting next to you, you must be an excellent dog "trainer"!
I am baffled by your video. This 'pack' - 'dominance' theory has been debunked many times (scientifically, I might add). If you want to become a better dog trainer, then you should educate yourself about learning theory. Not some Cesar Millan mumbo jumno. More people will believe you if you teach scientifically proven methods.
Our dogs are not competing for world dominance, believe me.
@lottabubbles725 That's a lie and you know it! Dogs ARE part of some big conspiracy to dominate us and take over the world as we know it! I know this because a dog told me this right before he told me to set fire to the library. All the science based trainers are just being paid off by the dogs in charge of the operation.
There's only one way - you need to beat them. I, personally, prefer a 20 inch steel riot baton but some of my friends use aluminum bats or ski poles. Personal preference.
Yeah, cuz dogs in the wild eat kibble from bowls. If you were to really do this the way a wild canid would, it would be raw meat, and you'd be eating from the same carcass first. But, that's even if pack theory held water. Read David Mech's current views on his own theory, Hierarchy is fluid and contextual. This is just silly stuff, sorry. Teaching a simple wait would show leadership.
I must say, it's a bit disappointing to see how easily people believe what they see on TV. What exactly is it that makes one believe that watching him work with a dog for a half hour to an hour is actually FIXING the dog's problem? It's too bad that what the audience doesn't see are the trainers who then have to deal with the dogs and their REAL problems after the filming ends at other facilities.
What a silly video. Do all dogs know what human forks are too?

lol at how you go on about being a pack leader and communicating with your dog as another dog yet you feed him kibble, something totally unnatural.
