Methinks Joyce's reference to Chivas Regal was no doubt inspired by the show's policy of providing their celebrity guests with lots of adult beverages so that their tongues would be loosened up sufficiently, to make them more uninhibited in their responses to the questions. It must have been pretty wild backstage there. Many of the female celeb guests went braless on the show back then (Elaine Joyce & Debralee Scott come immediately to mind).

this lady yelled comment was ed mcmahons' line on johnny carson tonite show at the time. people made comments about "nice guy" gene rayburns' shaking floor comment ...but remember these days a person disrupting a tv taping would be dealt with in a harsh way . taping would stop and this person would be held by security for the police . this exchange would never be telecast today. the 1970s were a more innnocent time . security now would not permit lady running to the stage area .

I have been in Studio 33 for three tapings of TPIR. The floor is solid concrete....no shaking possible. She looked like a sweet lady. Gene didn't have to make such a mean comment.
