Folks, at the very last scene there was a dog smong that family. It was made clear all animals were wiped out. What would they be feeding that dog with 2 others kids? 3 now. The boy saw one of those kids the father did'nt. Who were they really?
Cormac McCarthy has been very lucky to only have skilled and bright people interpret his work. Maybe his diction demands it, so 'lucky' would be robbery of proper credit. But I have yet to be disappointed by a film adaptation. I didn't think anyone would get the music right, but I'll be damned if this aint just-right.
I could care less if millions saw this movie, because the masses are too stupid to understand this story... Even in the darkest time, there is still the fire!!!
@strutnoodle you honestly think the masses are too stupid to understand that simple explanation for this movie? your opinion of others reflects your opinion of yourself. id like to believe everyone who saw this movie took something from it, other than a feeling of accomplishment for "understanding" the metaphor that was repeated throughout the movie. everyone who gave this a thumbs up are the stupid masses your talking about.
@strutnoodle You haven't proved your premise: just because people don't apply an idea expressed in a fictional source to 'real life' doesn't mean they can't just that they haven't. Anyway, I think one the reasons for the success of this film is that it reflects where society is at the moment culturally. The director has applied what is happening in real life to his fictional source.
@MrSlaveMentality "Song For Bob" is from The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. "Memory" is from The Road. Both films are spectacular and will make you cry. Does that answer your question?
Very sad--reminds me of the beginning of "Song for Bob." The scenes this music plays in makes it even sadder. Great movie--critics and all those awards organizations missed the boat big time on this...well maybe if weinstein actually tried to promote it, people might have actually seen it. ah well thats asking too much
I love song for bob! also saw this film last night. I have never been so affected by a film in a long time. I was just left sat with the credits rolling trying to digest what i had seen. Simply amazing!
Spectacular, breathtaking, sublime, exquisite, passionate, expressive, gentle, heart-rending.

Elementary movie, awesome music. However, I do not think ANY kind of music should have been composed to this great film.

@strutnoodle I don't think you have to be a brainiac to work out that was a major theme in the film.

@MagillaGo It's a simple storyline, but I'm saying most people are too dumb to apply the ideas expressed in the film in real life: people are stupid.
