@Jerimiah1977 It has 3 latches from at least the YJ model onward, if not earlier. There's the two latches on the hood and one in front behind the grill. With the speed this Jeep was doing and the brute force of impact, the latch in front was probably bent and popped open, after all, the side latches were popped as well.
@gabe41690 it's funny because when he does hit, you see the brake lights flash on and off meaning his foot was over the brake, so he was expecting to brake but was negligent to do so.

Any rear end collision is the car in behinds fault. It doesn't matter if you put the brakes on at a yellow light or have to stop for a deer, the car behind you has the responsibility of following at a safe enough distance where he can brake in time, as does the car behind him, ect.
I once saw a 6 car collision, each car rear ended the other because the front one braked and the last car to hit in the back got the ticket.

second.....the sports car shows stopped for several seconds before being rear ended, that it looks like the Jeep would have at least had time to stop or in very worst case, if not able to stop in time, would have rearended with less force.

The Aston martin also passed the crosswalk when he stopped.
If you watch the light, it turns red about 1.5 seconds before the collision. If the front car wasn't there, the jeep still wouldn't have stopped in time at that speed. If the jeep went for it, it would have still ran the red light. The front car should have stopped better, but still 100% the jeeps fault.
This reasoning is pretty hilarious. The Aston which stopped 'caused' the Jeep to go for running the red light blatantly. I don't think the Jeep saw the Aston at all, let alone was taking cues on which lights to run. He had plenty of time to stop safely.

Even if it stopped short (which it doesn't look like he did to me), the Jeep should not be following so close that he doesn't have time to stop. That's why it's recommended to allow 1 car length for every 10mph of speed. Paying attention helps too, which the Jeep driver wasn't doing. Stopping on yellow is not illegal. Yellow means slow and use caution, which the Aston did. People hate getting caught at red lights, which is why they try to run the yellow most times, including me.

I had a sad story, one of my senior was killed in a rear end crash, he was riding a motorbike and stopped at the red light and the bus bang on him from behind, he passed away days later.
This is what happened to me last week. Some idiot on her cell crashed into my car w/o braking at ALL (no skid marks). She was prob going about 40-50 mph. I hit my head on the steering wheel really hard & pushed me into the intersection.
luckily, I had my seat belt on which prevented me from going into the windshield. I'm slurring my words, have ADD, headaches, & mentally just slow. It really is frustrating & it sucks. She admits to police she was on her cell

In America in 2007, men were more likely to be in an accident leading to injury at 1 in 59.92, with women at 1 in 77.38
So yes, men are indeed involved in more accidents than women, despite the stereotype.

@gabe41690 it's funny because when he does hit, you see the brake lights flash on and off meaning his foot was over the brake, so he was expecting to brake but was negligent to do so.

I feel like a jerk but that was the funniest thing I have seen all day. The jeep had like 4 lanes of free traffic but still smashes into the ONLY car parked at the intersection! Haha FAIL!

Any rear end collision is the car in behinds fault. It doesn't matter if you put the brakes on at a yellow light or have to stop for a deer, the car behind you has the responsibility of following at a safe enough distance where he can brake in time, as does the car behind him, ect.
I once saw a 6 car collision, each car rear ended the other because the front one braked and the last car to hit in the back got the ticket.

Same happend to me I was rear ended turning right yesterday and the guy made it seem like it was my fault and I really thought that I was at fault and come to find out when I call my insurance they said that If I get rear ended it's the guy behind me it at fault because he was following too close, there are very very very few instances where the person in front is at fault. If you people actually analyzed the video you would see the jeep wasn't even braking at the time of the impact, the brake lights don't illuminate until after contact is made.

i just got rear ended today by a 15 year old girl texting on a left turning lane on a stop light! she thought i was going so she goes too but didnt see me put my brakes on cause she was too fucking busy texting. she hits me and lucky nothing happend but she still had the nerve to finish her fucking text message before talking to me. man ive never been so angry all my life

yeah, but I didnt see the brakelights on the jeep before he rearended the stopped car. So the question is did the Jeep even brake? He would have been slamming on the brakes before impact & it looks like he wasnt braking.
second.....the sports car shows stopped for several seconds before being rear ended, that it looks like the Jeep would have at least had time to stop or in very worst case, if not able to stop in time, would have rearended with less force.
I'm just saying....

If you people actually analyzed the video, it was party the Aston martin's fault as well.. he tried to speed past the yellow light then pussied out in which he could have made it if he tried.. This causes the Jeep to follow as well.
Of course it is the Jeep who is at fault but I am just saying this accident could have been avoided if he slowed down from the beginning.
The Aston martin also passed the crosswalk when he stopped.

If you watch the light, it turns red about 1.5 seconds before the collision. If the front car wasn't there, the jeep still wouldn't have stopped in time at that speed. If the jeep went for it, it would have still ran the red light. The front car should have stopped better, but still 100% the jeeps fault.

This reasoning is pretty hilarious. The Aston which stopped 'caused' the Jeep to go for running the red light blatantly. I don't think the Jeep saw the Aston at all, let alone was taking cues on which lights to run. He had plenty of time to stop safely.

@HCNguyen86 Yellow light doesn't mean floor it. The Aston Martin was in the right here. Even if it stopped short (which it doesn't look like he did to me), the Jeep should not be following so close that he doesn't have time to stop. Also, the Jeep was going so fast when he hit, so he obviously wasn't paying attention since he hit quite awhile after the Aston was already completely stopped. Also, when the Jeep hit, the light was VERY red.

@palebeachbum 100% jeep's fault but the Aston Martin look like he slammed on the brakes to stop for the yellow. judging by the look of the timing of light.. he could have made it. The Jeep assume Aston Martin was gonna pass the light therefore try to do so as well however obviously not paying attention.
I have been taught many times to never stop for a yellow while being so close because the person behind me will always try to pass it. This is how you avoid rear end collision in this situation

@HCNguyen86 As a good driver, you are supposed to be in control of your vehicle at all times, and that means not hitting other drivers, even if they stop short. That's why it's recommended to allow 1 car length for every 10mph of speed. Paying attention helps too, which the Jeep driver wasn't doing. Stopping on yellow is not illegal. Yellow means slow and use caution, which the Aston did. People hate getting caught at red lights, which is why they try to run the yellow most times, including me.

@HCNguyen86 A lot of people have brought up the other reasons why this was the Jeep's fault at this point, but if you pay attention, you'll realize that it didn't even apply it's brakes until AFTER the collision. It had plenty of time to slow down and stop had the driver been paying attention, as evidenced by the time that lapsed between the car stopping and the car being plowed into.

However, the aston martin could have probably avoided this accident if he practice defensive driving, stopping earlier for example could help.
Even if their insurance paid it out fully; I know I wouldn't want anyone crashing into my car.

@HCNguyen86 Yeah, well, hindsight's always 20/20. Accommodating the stupidity of other drivers shouldn't be a priority above looking out for yourself and following the law. My car was just recently totalled in a rear-end collision, in fact. I stopped at a stop sign, then the next thing I know I'm doing a 180. Everyone wants to make excuses and say "that's what insurance is for". Apparently inattentive driving is normal, acceptable behavior. Being angry about it is not.

Furthermore, is it even safe to create another, potentially -more- hazardous situation in order to avoid the one you're already in (and have mere seconds to respond to)? @brandavies Please, do not be offended; I am just sharing my thoughts. I always brake softly when I see a yellow light in order for the driver behind me to notice, meaning my brake light stay on well before I am near the light itself.
In this situation however, the aston martin couldn't even stopped correctly which makes me to believe he was either A) speeding B) Not paying attention or C) both.
Of course there are some situation you can't avoid however driving defensively will lessen the risk

@olverafam It don't matter, it is called defensive driving.. you don't slam the brake when someone is tailgating you and you don't pretend to try and run a yellow but stop short. This is similar, AM tried to run the light and the Jeep assume it was going to but AM stopped short. It is of course 100% jeep's fault as rear end collisions are usually 1 sided.

This is what happened to me last week. Some idiot on her cell crashed into my car w/o braking at ALL (no skid marks). She was prob going about 40-50 mph. I hit my head on the steering wheel really hard & pushed me into the intersection.
luckily, I had my seat belt on which prevented me from going into the windshield. I'm slurring my words, have ADD, headaches, & mentally just slow. It really is frustrating & it sucks. She admits to police she was on her cell

Hey, I have a learning disability/mentally slow with common sense but yet I am a decent 19 year old driver. It's just that when I drive downtown and park, I always have to second guess myself and ask someone on the street if I can get a parking ticket at that spot. It helps me though.
