  • taking a perfectly healthy breakfast, and turning it into a big mac.

  • damn thats a lot of milk

  • i would try that as an experiment

  • This is delicious

  • Fried cereal!

Isn't that what "Cap'n Crunch" is for?

  • You forgot the salt!!!???!! You have to put salt on it. That makes it both a (very) little sweet and salty. This recipe came from the homemade cheerios snack mix. You would add pretzels, peanuts, worcestershire sauce and such and bake in the oven. I used to make fried cheerios in college over 30 years ago. It won't touch your blood sugar too much but WILL affect your cholesterol!! It's a great occasional snack and SO good!

  • LOL americans...sigh

  • Wow what a interesting methode i am gonna try this soon :)

  • we use to make those when we were kids, so good!

  • God bless America.

  • wow that looks reallllyyy unhealthy lmao

  • americans...

  • Im still wondering why I typed Fried Cheerios into the search bar... lolz

Either way, Im glad I found this vid

    lolz

  • hmmm i have never had this,

i may now have to try it!1 (:

  • I remember when the directions were on the side of the Cheerios boxes. These are good. I like adding (after they're done) a touch of Jane's Crazy Mixed-Up Salt, or a little drib of garlic powder or else some chili powder. I've seen people mix a little cinnamon and sugar with em too. I use a little less butter, more like just enough to coat the cheerios pieces a little.

  • Lard would be better...

  • :D Thats Another Way For Meh To Eat My Cheerios..

  • so for everyone who is saying that it highers your cholesterol, people eat toast (with butter) with their cereal a lot of the time, and this is cutting out that starch, plus its cutting out the sugar that some people put on their cheerios as well... although frying them with sugar would be delicious too! mmmm. i'm going to try that.

  • I made this with my cousins when we were kids cuz they said it tasted a lot like popcorn and it did! And no nasty popcorn kernels stuck in your teeth at the end of it. We had fun!

  • Where did you get the song?

  • lol it IS unhealthy, but looks so tasty.. I wouldn't use butter though, it has evil fats (saturated or unsaturated, idk which is evil-er) that I suppose the body keeps? not much idea about that, I wish i paid attention to class last year xD

I'd use margarine. much better than butter, though I have to say butter is tastier..

  • i'm a big fan of your recipes! thanks for sharing!

  • I eat them with powdered sugar

  • my mom taught me how to make these when i was only six! thanks~

  • awesome! :-)

  • lmao

  • I'm going to do you one better. Fried macaroni noodles. First boil the noodles, then dump rgem into a pan with loads of butter and salt and pepper. Cook until some are crunchy and some are still soft. Bon Apetite!

  • Can't believe I saw this. My Dad taught me how to make fried Cherrios when I was 8. Now I'm pretty good at it, I can do a whole box and everyone that has tried them has begged me to teach them. I have found that adding melted butter to the warmed pot of cherrios works much better. Oh Ya! And don't forget the salt! Alot of it!! How did you find out about this "popcorn" alternative?

  • Those do look yummy, I'll have to try these out.

    haha thanks

  • have you tried deep frying them in batter?

  • no.

  • then don't effing make them. i SAID it was a bad treat...did you not catch that part?!

  • this is bullshit i thought it said fried cheetos

  • Try that!

  • it didn't say fried cheetos.

  • lol

  • they dont use enough butter it wont come out right

  • who is they? it turns out fine for me.

  • live life! Its all about the freedoom of choice! anything else is un-american.

  • mmmm totally! :-)

  • It's funny how the people who rag on others about eating unhealthy foods are watching these videos in the 1st place. Did they search "deep fried cheerios" by mistake? Or do they just feel the need to "act" healthy online while stuffing their fat faces in front of their screens?

  • lol! :-)

  • lmaao

    cheerioees lowers ur cholesterol

    this highers ur cholesterol

  • it depends on the butter you use. you can always use a butter substitute that is low in cholesterol.

  • @LukaIsntLuka

haha no, with most olis that are heated, they turn to trans fats.

  • oh yeah??

    guiness+Cheerios=guinessos

    :)

    try that its nice

  • mmm no thanks? lol

  • i love to eat them with a bit of salt!!mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sound delish!

  • as gross as it sounds, I once put a flaky cereal in a blender once, ground it up then poured milk on it. I hate choking on corn flakes early in the morning. oh boy! I just cut my esophagus at 6:30 in the morning with overly sharp cereal! I can almost breathe!

  • Ack... My blood sugars just peaked :)

  • this is not a snack for the weak ;-) lol but it sure is tasty!

  • Totally eliminating the cholesterol lowering benefits of the cereal

  • yes. it does.

  • I suppose it gets around having to eat anything else for breakfast.

    Just add fat.

  • its not usually a breakfast treat. its a snack, not a meal.

  • how many grams of cheerios did you trow on that pan ? its important please answer :D

  • i dont know how many grams. i'm sorry.

  • looks good, but its kinda like smothering the chrrios in fat...

  • yes. mmm tasty, tasty. fat.

  • sounds good

  • totally! :-)

  • mmm looks delicious

  • they totally are! :-)

  • Wow!! These have been in my family for at least seventy years! My Auntie Lil made them for her kids and my mother made them for me. I make them in a omelet pan with enough butter to coat the pan and pour in a bowl full of Cheerios. I shake the pan, moving each Cheerio until it is golden brown. After they are done, I put them back in the bowl and salt them. Try it with ice cold Nestle's chocolate milk. Delicious!

  • Awesome!

  • haha great ! congratulations for the originality ;)

  • lol, thanks! :-)

  • i mixed my fried cheerios with icing sugar and cinemon with milk. yum!

  • mmm that sounds...too sweet for me! :-) but I'm glad you found something yummy! :-)

  • did you make this up or did someone tell you about it?

  • one of my cousins taught me the recipe, not sure where she learned it ;-)

  • Just wondering, does it have to be the butter you used? I think I only get lurpak slightly salted butter around here - would that be sufficient?

  • it could be any butter ;-) salted utter IS best! lurpak would be tasty and delicious!

  • Thanks LukaIsntLuka! I'll be sure to try it out.

  • Yeah they kinda do look good .I'm gonna have to try that LOL

  • totally yummy!

  • Pause at 0:25 it look's like a skull. o.0

  • I'll try them when I'm hungry.. lol I just had a bowl of regualr honey-nut-cheerios :~]

  • yumm yumm! :-)

  • yes lol

  • my grandma (from canada who was welsh) passed this on to mom; and my mom passed it on to me. absolutely delicious! it brings back great memories!

  • me too! :-) it's an old childhood treat for me too! :-)

  • Im shocked you're not Scottish. Those guys are obsessed with frying stuff. Thats Scottish cuisine - Take a meal, fry it.

  • lol, yeah! :-)

  • i tried these and i didnt like them, i guess its just a matter of preference

  • aww bummer. sorry :(

  • I just read if you add salt they make a great popcorn substitute. heh...I'll try them with powdered sugar first though..yum.

  • i've never branched out. i think i should try :-)

  • they taste really super fantastic with some powdered sugar on top ..almost like a funnel cake

  • oooh, that sounds delicious :-)

  • that looks good, I will have to make it and put some on ice cream!

  • i've never tried it on ice cream, let me know how it comes out :-)

  • Is it nice?

  • i dunno. how are you cooking them/eating them?

  • i know ur either putting to much butter or not enough cheerios or u not suturing them long enough or well enough

  • yeah, or you're puttin milk in WITH them ;-)

  • im gonna try it... but im gonna have it like normal cereal with milk on top and maybe some honey....!

  • the milk might make them cold again, and the butter is best warm :-) but lemmme know how that turns out! :-)

  • Okay Luka! Are you sure you aren't from Texas. At our state fair every year we have some new ridiculous fried something! : ) If fact, you should definitely copyright this wacky recipe before the Texas State Fair Officials get 'hold of it! : ) It does sound remarkably good! : )

    Peace and Blessings,

    Angie

  • lol nope. born in Kansas, raised in Missouri, now reside in Florida. :-) Been to Texas, once, maybe twice ;-) us Midwesterners love a good fried dish too ;-)

  • Sounds good, I would put it on icecream!:)

  • never thought about that....:-) hope it's tasty! :-)

  • Think I'll try this. Can you add shreddies to it too and have them both mixed?

  • i dunno actually baybea. i've never tried to add anything to this - except when I was feeling particularly buttery, I'd add more melted butter to the top. mmmmm :-)

  • This song was in the show "Dead Like Me." No, really. I swear it was. How odd is that?

  • it DOES sound like something from Dead Like Me! I knew it kinda sounded familiar! :-)

  • What a well balanced meal you made :)

  • eh, if you count butter and carbs as balanced ;-) course there is some dairy. all we're missing is fruits and veggies ;-)

  • I may have to try this! I think my kids might like this.

  • i liked it as a kid ;-) (hi dwb)

  • Who ever thought of frying cheerios! lol

I bet they are good though. :D

  • mmm tasty :-)

  • mmmm cheese! :-)

  • I have butter but no plain cheerios. :( Now I am hungry! I am sure they are good.

  • i'm my experience, the non plain ones don't work so well. be sure to get a box next time you're at the big store ;-)

  • I still have not eaten. Thinking a quesadilla is my only option at this point.

  • Sounds yummy...I'll have to try it when I get home.

  • thanks! :-) hope you like em!

  • Secret recipies... I know this one a girl in Chicago gave me in School.. it was just "coolwhip" (what is in that stuff anyway???) and just some "nestlie quick, chocholate flavour"... none of which are available here.. but I did try it just once.. that is serious DEPRESSION food, for one of those times where you want to either drink too much or eat too much sugar and fat! ;)

  • they actually make a chocolate whipped topping now - comes in a can. it's like a really light mouse ;-)

  • I've never heard of that, looked good though. :)

  • most people never have. it's a treat my couins told me about. we're the only three I've known to make them. :-) now I'm sharing this "secret recipe" with the whole wide internets ;-)

  • Ok yes i admit it, they looked good, but how did you even think of frying cheerios in butter? I mean it would never have crossed my mind to do that! LOL!

besides which i should be eating LESS butter!

    Nutter! :-)

    xxx hugs xxx

  • lol totally! :-) they're tasty. just don't eat them every day ;-)

  • I've eaten literally tons of Cheerios over the course of my life and I've never ever thought about frying them up like this - does this work for Rice Krispies too? :)

  • my cousins and I made them when we were little. I don't know anybody but the three of us that have made and eaten them :-)

  • i wouldn't think that they would actually. but you could try it ;-) i've only ever fried Cheerios!

  • hmmmm, sounds yummy (i'd eat anything with butter on it, heck, just give me the butter, lol)

  • they ARE tasty! :-)

  • well, not as bad as a deep fried Snickers bar... actually, I'll bet they would taste good in a Chex mix.

  • ooh they would be good in there! :-)

  • I'll bet even adding some Worchestershire sauce would be an extra great snack.

  • mmm that could be good too. I'm such a purist. I just want the little crispy butter rounds ;-)

  • I promise to try it sometime, and in the meantime, I'm sending your video to a friend who thinks everything should be fried!

  • lol sounds good to me ;-)

  • This can't exactly be healthy..but guess what: I'll see who finishes the race of life.. I've got a head start to the finish line of about 10 years, (I am much older than you are!!!) and I've had menigitis and then pnuemonia which caused my asthma...(thus the story why I can't donate blood anymore :( do you think I have a chance at finishing the race at least 20 years before you as I suspected or not? Sorry about the morbidity.. ;) its nearly halloween.. the grave is always a good topic!

  • i never said there were a healthy treat. just tasty ;-)

  • I don't think they qualify as heart healthy any more! LOL

I bet they are even better with the Honey Oat Cheerios! Ok, don't get me started...I need to loose weight, not gain. :0)

  • oh, yeah. totally NOT with a whole tablespoon of butter :-) I've tried them with the sugary kind - NOT good. not good at all! YMMW though.... ;-)
