if you like glitch-type-drums, a great application is 'glitchSequencer' - you can use ALSA's snd-virmidi module (midi-loopback device) and route midi from glitch to jack clients, you can get some really funky interactive beats.
i usually use sooperlooper + glitchseq + VSTs + linuxsampler. Glitch is midiclock master, and the rest i slave to it... i loop live inputs such as guitar, keys and my voice, into Sooperlooper... it's endless fun ;)
