@MrSPACEDUDE13 Probably not. DC did an origin issue on Joker some years back called The Killing Joke. Near the end Joker said sometimes he remembers his origins that way and sometimes some other way. He likes to think that if he's gonna have an origin then it should at least be multiple choice.

I think the father story is true, in the comics and cartoons it's always shown that the joker had a very abusive father that drove himeventually sadistic. He was actually married but his mind was broken and unstable, when things go wrong at home, he eventually loses it. Though in the Killing Joke comic, we discover that the Joker is mostly the crazed psycho path killer because of Batman.

I think the point is we never know how the Joker got his scars. He tells so many lies that we are left forever guessing. I know most Batman fans won't have read My Sister's Keeper but the lawyer who has a guide dog does exactly the same thing: he lies continually about what his disability is so you are left forever guessing. It adds another dimension to the character and is particularly effective in the Joker, as you are left wondering how he became so twisted.

In Arkham Asylum (comic - not game!) he's described as being not necessarily insane, but actually on a higher level of perception all together - he has no control over anything that he percieves. He has all of the strengths of a human figure but ignores all of the weaknesses of one, e.g. hatred, revenge etc. He is not a superhero but more of a symbol, as he explains in Batman Begins.
