WHY IS THERE A LOT OF JEALOUSLY HERE???? Be happy that man kind is making progress. This will open new frontiers in architecture and engineering. People from all over the world will be able to go to the top floors. All this talk about using the money for world hunger and helping other is nonsense and unrealistic.IF YOU GAVE A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY 20 BILLION DOLLARS,THEY WOULD JUST WASTE IT AWAY,THEN YOU WOULD HAVE NOTHING LEFT.Every country has the right to do what they want with their money.

you think dubai is burj khalifa thats it? think again sheikh mohammed bin rashid said over and over again that what we did already is not even 1% of what we will do,and after that he mentioned the "2021 vision" which only have a delays projects but not acanceld one, plus trust me this tower is nothing from what will happen,think about it if now 2011 and dubai has what it have what about more 10 years for example?

This is silly to build  towers so high, I would not even consider to go there for vacation. It is so scary even think of it. One earthquake or tsunami hit there, everything will be gone. Looks like the earth planet is changing every year, anything can happen in anywhere at any time in the world?

Wow Dubai really? I mean I was fine with your Burj Khalifa but really is this seriously what your up for? I mean the Burj Khalifia looks like a bunch of random bricks stacked on top of each other! It looks like junk! It has NO quality about it and it doesn't look nice. I like skyscrapers that people put effort in like the Chrysler building or the Empire State Building, but this has no art deco, or anything! Its junk! And quit building so high its getting stupid. And no i'm not jealous.

I think it's clear you ARE jealous. As proved by the fact that when listing the buildings YOU think are nice, you list American buildings.

The Burj Khalifa doesn't look anything like "stacked bricks", it is a modern design which, I'm sorry to tell you, was never meant to be built in the Art Deco style.

And also, what exactly gives you the expertise to state the building has "NO quality about it"? Are you a Structural Engineer? An Architect? A conceptual Designer? No, you're not.

While all of this is beautiful, groundbreaking, and impressive couldn't we be using this money to develop existing third world countries and stop widespread hunger, thirst, and disease? Dubai developers are too wrapped up in their own little worlds. Maybe I they would share the wealth with third world countries to bring them up to date and on their own feet, then they could build these vertical cities to accommodate the people that didn't die of hunger, thirst, or disease.

$ 4 and $ 5 gallons of gas are / will be paying for all that . i want $2 /gallon again and less towers.. they've got enough now... very cool , but regular working people can't afford to live because of it. Bunch of magnificent ,empty ,financially bankrupt towers. they are broke they can't afford to build anymore towers ; even small buildings.

Hahaha, unless you can dedicate 3-4 years just for a BASE that can hold that kind of extreme weight, this is nearly impossible to build with today's technology. But hey, it's dubai, and I'll look foward to it.

Nakheel Tower has been Approved and the foundations are currently being done. Nakheel Tower will be built. I am not sure about the other one, although in Dubai everything is possible!
