Though the movie was in accurate the scene where Billy shoots Bob Olinger did happen and he supposedly did say "Hi Bob" before shooting him. As for the dimes in the shotgun it was probably made up, real slugs are much more lethal and you would use the dimes to buy more shells (dimes were worth more then), but you are right the "stop" line is funny.
