He chews on the water pipes that run water to my house.. i had to watch him all the time. i keep 5 little chicken pullets in a cage outside and he won't stop barking at them. We take him to the dog park twice a week. And he jumps on other people and other dogs. I have to grab him and get him away from others. They also tell him to stop sometimes. I'm having a big problem. :( Is my dog even normal?

Dont put cardboard on the german shepherd ear u might damage it more just make sure you dont rub the dogs ears or head every time u say good boy rub the dog in his neck or something because the dog is still a puppy and the cartilage is very fragile u will notice the ears going straight up once u leave the ears alone.
Beautiful German shepherd. I want to get one, but my parents are both really allergic to dog hair, so they only buy poodle mixes. I'll have to wait to get my dog until I get my own place in the next year or two. Sam is a beautiful dog though. Lucky guy.

@sugarcookie111 my pup is 4 months and 46 pounds(21kg). at this rate my pup will probably be 65-75 at 5 months, but then again he is most likely verrry large for his age. i would check out the parents to see how much they weigh. jake's(my pup) dad was 120 pounds(54.5kg) and his mom was around 95 pounds(43 kg) so i guess it depends on how big he is. I think jake was only 7 pounds(3kg) when i got him....
@casperufc My four month old sable is doing the very same thing, im thinking its a teething thing but he is scaring some people because of his size. If you figure this out let me know! Good luck to you!

@MrAlpine777 Yeah, take IAMBONSPIT's advice. or you can stretch your dog's ear out with your fingers for at least 5 minutes each day. Thats what I did to my 2 month old German Shepherd dog... it really does an awesome job =)

@ethatnfilms190 don't stress, his body will catch up to his head, different parts of his body are just growing at different rates. Completely normal :)
@lambonspit and if it does in fact have hip dysplasia, then that's either extremely unfortunate or you got your GSD from a breeder who's shepherds have terrible hips. try some glucosamine and chondroitin treats. no GSD should have hip dysplasia by only 4 months of age.
Beautiful dog! My puppy is very small for a dog her age. She's almost a year old and only 22". She was the runt, though, so I don't mind :) Be sure to give him lots of mental stimulation! Kongs and food-toys are the best :D

If a dog is naturally big s/he will be a bigger size a whatever age naturally. It isn't good for a dog crazy unnatural growth spurts which is normally brought about by bad dog food.. But that doesn't look to be the case here. (there are ways to differentiate) Some peeps should strive to actually understand what they are talking about rather than just bark out what they heard without knowing why it was said. Anyway that's a nice looking pup and I can't wait till i get my shepherd :)

Thanks. Just found the handbook of regulations in GSD's about entering shows. Sam fits well inside the specified length and height, so i don't know why people are saying that he is abnormally large. Plus, all dogs grow at different rates and times just like humans. We don't say its bad for a kid to grow fast or when they have a growth spurt so why is it any different for dogs? Don't get people's reasoning sometimes :/

they can be up at any time. Sam's went up at 3 months. I've seen some at 6 months with droopy ears and some at 2 months with upright ears!! Depends on the dog.

So is Sam. If he's aggressive just say NO to him very angrily and if he doesn't stop hit his nose (just to cause discomfort). You don't want him to be aggressive towards other dogs coz Sam's now 6 months and he's really hard to control at only 25kg.

aww soo cute i have a 4 month called ruby. she is so cute, i have had her from 14 weeks. sams coulouring looks likes rubys and ruby is big for her age aswell evryone says that her feet are big and the are bigger than my grandmas 1yr old massive american lab! so i guess she is gonna be big epsecially for a female!

they can be up at any time. Sam's went up at 3 months. I've seen some at 6 months with droopy ears and some at 2 months with upright ears!! Depends on the dog.

very nice i have a 4 moth sheperd hes 42 pounds today we took himto obedience training hes very aggreive towards dogs but hes a good dog otherise haha

So is Sam. If he's aggressive just say NO to him very angrily and if he doesn't stop hit his nose (just to cause discomfort). You don't want him to be aggressive towards other dogs coz Sam's now 6 months and he's really hard to control at only 25kg.
