  • A "summons to a (church's) disciplinary council"?? It amazes me how people (of any religion) so willingly hand control of their lives, and subordinate themselves to the authority of any religion or church.

  • "you know what elders, bearing testimony is declarationism, and declarationism is the last bastion of the unreasonable fanatic, and we're not gonna hear it today." =)

  • did he put the full recording on youtube?

  • @AyakoTachi

You can watch the full presentation by going to our main page and clicking on the playlist section, where you will find the complete presentation.

    All the best, -EMF

  • So happy for everyone who has left. I was a prisoner of the JW's for 20 yrs - witch hunt & everything. I sympathize. One thing - don't forget that Non Belief is always an option...! Good luck to you all!

  • Thanks for stopping by! And I'm with you on the non-belief. It is nice to be able to make up ones own mind on such matters.

It's amazing how all the cults operate in much the same way. We may have had our own bizarre beliefs from one another, but the essential factors of control, manipulation, coercion and "brainwashing" seem to be the norm for cults the world over. It's great to be free!

    All the best,

    -EMF

  • p.s. You may want to check out the presentation by world renown cult expert Steven Hassan who presented at our conference in '08. It's titled "Releasing the Bonds." You'll see a great many parallels in his presentation which may prove interesting.

    Thanks again for stopping by.

  • You hit the nail on the head! Fortunately for me, for whatever reason, the WT just left no impression on me. I'm not sure why. As devout & active as I was (deeply) I sometimes actually forget about it completely. There's so much to learn & to do in the real world, those old lies don't even have the power to make me angry. If I didn't have active members in my family, it'd all be water under the bridge...

  • @amaxamon And that last sentence of yours is exactly why the ExMormon Foundation exists. We have our FAMILY still there on the inside. I believe the Mormons think those of us who leave should simply walk away and disappear. Why should or would we? We love our families. We shouldn't have to leave them, or be discarded by them. But we often need support from our fellow travelers who've gone through the same fire we have. It's really quite simple to understand why the Conf. exists.

  • @kackyful says: "I believe the Mormons think those of us who leave should simply walk away and disappear."

The church does not teach that. My experience has been that those who leave the church are still embraced by their families. The disconnect seems to begin when the one who has left attempts to persuade the others to leave also. The actions of the one who left are what causes the divide, in most cases.

  • @JediLDS Ahhh, got it. Funny how it's "ok" though when the Mormon continues to preach and often berate someone for leaving, that is just fine though. As long as YOU guys are doing it, it's perfectly fine. Goose/Gander thing, Jedi! ExMormons have every bit of a right to explain their truth as you do yours. The sooner you scared followers get that the better the getting on with all this will get for all of us! Grow up and deal with it. People don't believe in your fairytale anymore!

  • @kackyful I've never berated anyone for leaving the church, never. I figure that's between them and God. What I do take exception to, however, is when they in turn try to dictate to me what I should be doing. If they want to offer their view, that's fine. But when they presume to attack me for correcting them over some of the falsehoods they begin telling about the church, that's when I call them on it. You did it when you referred to LDS as "scared followers"--not true and not honest.

  • Well it's good to know you've got it all figured out. Funny though, your description of this event sounds similar to the event which you and many Mormons participated in this past weekend in SLC. Hmmmm.

Keep researching or not, you obviously have it all figured out.

    All the best, -EMF

  • I would absolutley agree with that statement, if I in any way shape or for elected the prophets and apostles. However, since they have a divine calling from God, I will have to disagree with that statement, and say that I was nourished, and instructed by Gods chosen servants. While this was just a self pity party, with good prose and rhetoric.

  • Good. Glad you were not jumping to any conclusions or displaying myopic distortions in your thinking or behavior in any way. Glad to know you have it all figured out.

All the best in your continued studies. -EMF

  • That's exactly what YOU fuckers do.

  • Lyndon is a fantastic speaker and I would have LOVED to have him in my ward. But now I don't have one either, lol.

  • Lyndon rocks.

  • In Gods eyes we are all important!

Where does Jesus say that one man has authority over another when it comes to you eternal salvation or if you are going to be with God in heaven?

The only one who has authority is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!

  • Don't you know, brother? "We believe in being subject to kings, rulers, Mormon-Church Leader-dogs, and magistrates..."

    Does that answer your question?

    ^ ^

  • omiolo "I HAVE MORE TO BOAST OF THAN EVER ANY MAN HAD. I am the only man that has ever been able

to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I BOAST THAT NO MAN EVER DID SUCH A WORK AS I.

    of the Church Vol. 6, p. 408-412)-

  • @ElderJoseph

This is the quote that hit me to the core and showed up that I did not believe this nor could I ever go back to the Mormon church again. Blaspheme.

  • @MsFreedom2fly Hi, Yes and there are lots of things early LDS leaders taught and arrogantly too that scared me out. I spent two years investigating, never liked the idea of hurry up get baptised, so I continued diligently in study (thanks to the ward members who allowed me full access of all lessons) and towards the end I started feeling physically ill with everything I had discovered and one day ran out. Tried to go again and it was soon all over. The things I discovered were overwhelming.

  • @ElderJoseph

Amen. My parents are converts but I was born and raised. So ready to get out of Utah it's unbelievable. Run Run Run.

  • @MsFreedom2fly MsFreedom:

If you would just purchase our "Reformed Egyptians for Dummies!!" kit, ($149.95 + Shipping & Handling) and fork over 10% of your gross, you would most certainly regain your faith, your testimony, and your righteousness!!

  • @CounterCultureLives

My mother in law sent me 5 books on the evidences of the Book of Mormon and yet she has not read one. Sorry blind faith is idiot following an idiot.

  • @MsFreedom2fly You think she might be willing to spring for a "Reformed Egyptians for Dummies!!" kit??

  • @CounterCultureLives

Lol!! I should send her one. j/k

  • @omiolo1 ... Someone had this comment marked as spam, LOL. Guess they didn't like reading a contrasting point of view. Keep up the good work!

  • "Bearing testimony is declarationism. Declarationism is the last bastion of the unreasonable fanatic."

    Well said. Lyndon was awesome.
