  • I...wow....i...wow.

  • I can't find part 2 :(

  • And to think that most people find all answer in God.....

I can't help feeling sorry for them..

  • wow just wow. Carl you are an inspiration to scientists everywhere, from one scientist to another, thank you just.....thank you

  • RIP Carl.

  • That was intense

  • blows my mind.

  • Great video, thanks for making it, there's clearly much effort that has gone into making it.

  • compelling

  • the show Cosmos was like this on every episode..very humbling

  • I can only scarcely imagine the clarity of thought that Carl Sagan might have possessed to say these words I just heard. A genuine champion! Thank you Dr. Sagan!

  • As much as I like Neil deGrasse Tyson, this is what he lacks. Tyson loves to be descriptive about the grandness of the universe, and is inspiring in his own way. Sagan is poetic and introspective, makes you understand the frailty and flawed existence of humanity. If we don't venture to the stars then we are lying in our graves.

  • Tears, this speech still brings tears to mine eyes. After hearing it dozens of times over, it still has yet to lose it's great significance and meaning. Words to live by, and words to remember for all.

  • I never get tired of this.

  • Dr. Sagan lives on indeed, he lives on through us.

  • Wow.. I love the way you put his words to video and music. Beautiful!

  • This video gave me a feeling I've never felt before. I'm stunned.

  • @lilbromarky1 My friend, you are not alone.

Pale Blue Dot is one of the most poignant 3 minutes ever written and recorded.

I've known many people who changed their lives during these 3 minutes. Some became instant agnostics and humanists, some went back to school or simply found personal peace. A feeling that humbles any theology, nationalism or sport.

"There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this image of our tiny world."

    Love you Carl.

  • CARL SAGAN is the wise man of all time.

    Carl lives on.

  • i mean 5:34 till the end. sorry

  • at 8:12 is that an image of or solar system?

if you watch from 4:34 till the end it looks like its zooming out farther and farther. and the black sphere in the middle is the sun.

    or am i just trippen?

  • No Superblackman that is a rendtion of Saturn. And a poor one at that.

  • Holy science, that was a fucking outstanding video, very well made. Is there anyplace I can download all three clips combined?

  • I miss Carl.

  • As a young, hope-to-be scientist, I'm depressed that I'll never get to meet him in person.

  • No matter how many times I hear this it still inspires. Carl gave science poetry, making you feel insignificant and supreme at the same time.

A future generation of our decendants will take the first flights beyond our Solar System to worlds beyond; looking back home Sagan's words will still speak.

  • your so buyist lmao i don't blame you. I'm buyist we get that far.

  • @bshieldsbb01 Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • What a man...we are not worthy...yet again we refuse to listen...this man was a sage.....a truh prophet and visionary may God rest his soul and may they be having an interesting chat as we speak...

  • It is ironic that you talk about Sagan, and God rest his soul. And a interesting chat with God. For Carl Sagan was an atheist.

  • Don't belittle his accomplishments by suggesting he is now enjoying the afterlife - he did not believe in such a thing. As he said on a number of occasions: "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence."

  • EXCELLENT.

CARL SAGAN was the wise man of the 20th century. He is an inspiration for us.

    We miss him dearly.

  • Dont take yourself too seriously either smart arse....

  • I said an innocent comment and get crap like that from smaakjeks and arthenor007. You are the sort of people that think you know the truth. But if you have read any sort of philosophy you would know that there is no capital T truth out there, sorry guys.

The fact remains that it is strange the earth came out in that way.

  • well, I just politely suggested that other stuff on pale blue dot (and all of sagan's work, for that matter) are far more wonderful and interesting than that. Just my opinion...

  • Yeh,i know what you mean.

All science and faiths are good.

The sooner the world appreciates this, the better the planet will be for it.

  • but when you try to combine science and faith the wrong way, you get scientology, which is a highly successful corporation whose product is insane bullshit.

  • The only thing even slightly related to "science" used by that cult is the first 5 letters of the word "science". :p

  • Of all the notions to take from this video, that was what you noticed? It was a coincidence. There are far more amazing things in our universe than accidental lense flares from space probes.

  • It doesn't make me think. Not at all. We know that no such band of light is present anywhere near earth. Therefore we can assume it has something to do with the lense of the camera. Possibly divine intervention? Why not a triangle, or a bottle? Because it doesn't apply to the laws of optics. The phenomenon can be explained by 'geometry and optics' or by divine intervention. Occam's Razor urges us to take the simpler explanation. I'll let you decide which one that is.

  • This book does "make me think", A LOT, but not about that oO.

That's just a coincidence. And the "suspended in a beam of light" thing was more poetry than science.

  • wow

  • greatist man ever lived

  • His words will echo throughout the hearts of history as long as humanity persists to exist.

  • Who knows what we'll find out there. I'm sad that I won't be around for long in this life, I would have liked to see it.

  • Where did these videos originate from? Who put it all together?

  • "think of the rivers of blood spilled to become momentary masters of a fraction of dot."....makes you wonder sometimes..how trivial most things that we fight for are in the grand scheme of things

  • Superb use of pictures, music, and footage, to complement Sagan's words. All three parts have been well put together and add to the power of Sagan's elegant, wise words.

  • Sagan was one of the greatest thinkers of all time. No question.

  • Sort of. I think he was a great man, but it was his singular gift for popularizing science and inspiring people to study the world that made him so great. As a scientist he was decent, but not outstanding, but as a writer and promoter of science - a truly magnificent human being.

  • agreed!

  • Sagan is still tavelling across the universe. He taught me to be a Freethinker

  • Thank you, FreeThinking76.

  • There are at least 2 different versions of Carl reading Pale Blue Dot. Not only is the timing and cadence different, the actual words differ as well.

  • One is from a book, I think.

  • the way with words is so dreamy.. ' a mode of dust suspended on a sunbeam.'. its like it should be set to music so songful

  • So poetic these words. Yet, powerful in Sagan's opinion that everyone should agree to them.

  • I wouldn't have changed the ending music... but not bad! ;-)

  • I like the ending music. Kind of mystic, I think.

  • Fantastic vid. Always enjoyed Sagan.
