@MetalKingLuka Nope just takes a good memory. I have the entire start up written on the wall right beside me. And I have the Warthog start up there aswell. Know the Black Shark off by heart the warthog not so much.
From memory it was a dual core 3mhz E6850, 4 gig pc800 ram, nvidia gtx260 on vista32. The CPU caused some big FPS drop on missions where a lot was going on, not the gfx card. CPU is everything in this sim however it had no problems in this mission running 1920x1200 while also running Fraps as you can see.
@shrubbo4me hmm you must either have a terrible memory or some real shaky fingers... mean a 3 MHz dual core can't even run win xp.... a 3 GHz processor could run the game.
@karambiatos well yes and Casio PV-1000 is a good example of a ~5 mhz gaming console from 90's and was capable to use a 256x192 resolution (and the graphics weren't so godly back then) so yes i understand how little 3mhz is...

Disabling the automatic control channels makes the chopper very unstable. If you use the flight director mode (the blue button on the far right) you won't have to fight the chopper wanting to stay in a determined heading, but it will keep stability and only move when you move the stick.
Also, you should watch this clip and learn to use the trimmer efficiently:

@doublehelix109 You can, but the game is to complex for that. At first when i didnt have the joystick the game sucked becuse you always fucked up the controlls. the joystick makes all flight sims a 100 times better!
I would think you may be able tho I have never tried. I know for sure the is an arcade flight model so you should be able to fly like battlefield. I would highly recommend getting some decent flight controls if you really want to enjoy this sim, well worth it.
@gyroseven Yes and you can get in on steam now. You can play it as a sim or a game. You chose. ;) But after practicing a bit I would suggest to go for the sim mode! :D Very good game! DCS: A-10 Warthog is also coming out soon.
I have read that in arcade mode it works better with buttons then with a joystick so yeah you do not need a joystick if you are happy playing it that way. In simulation mode I would not think you would do well at all.

P+RShift brings the body up. Google Black Shark key commands and the first link will be to the dcs forums. From there you can download the Key command PDF they has all the commands listed.
hey when i start a game it says to press Pause/Break to unpause but when i press it nothin happens, i have tried reassigning keys but nothing please help
You can use keyboard shortcuts or you can look in the general direction so you can see what you are doing and use the mouse. If you got a touch screen then just reach out and push. I believe you can also look directly at the button and push it that way as well now though I am not sure.
I am not 100% sure I understand your question but if I do "Rambo Style" is basically charge in and shoot everything up with little thought for tactics.... point and shoot. The term as such came from a forum conversation at the time that resulted in this video.
I don't really know how to answer this other then practice, there is nothing super technical about it so if you are having problems replicating it then it is just a question of more practice.
When I first got the game I made a custom mission with just me at an airport and crashed a thousand times doing silly things like loops, rolls and flying through the cities at street level full throttle. Do enough of that and that turn won't even rate a mention :)

Yep, this whole video was flown from the cockpit and then in replay mode I picked whatever view I wanted. I used FRAPS to record but there is several others programs that do the same thing. Google "record pc games".

hemm intresting how much detail the game actually went into instead of just giving us the same old tired going down in flames for unspecified reasons other than being struck with a projectile!
I can't tell you about windows 7, but I can definitely tell you that this is a SERIOUS simulation. I had to flip about 30 switches just to start it up. Be perpared to study. By far the BEST simulation on the market. I would check the DCS website and see if they are saying anything about windows 7 in their forums.
The juddering was caused by the rotors being no longer all the same length.
What happened was that I lost the starboard engine and was losing rotor speed (beep beep beep) but was pulling up on the collective to clear the road.
Dropping centripetal force and increased angle of attack brought the rotors together. The juddering in the cockpit is extreme and I was losing control so that is when I punched out.
As 41elliott said, "By far the BEST simulation on the market" and I agree.
If you're running windows Vista, DO NOT buy this sim. You've been warned. It runs well on XP, but Vista's processing protocol is not suitable for this.
That's interesting seeing as that video was taken using Fraps while playing on a Vista machine that is 2 years old. Seemed to do both fine as you can see.
I run the sim on Vista with an 8800 gtx. And it does ok as long as you're not in large battles involving huge amounts of enemy A.I. and multiple wingmen, none of which I see in your video (which by the way is very well done).
IGN made it clear in their review that vista users would be limited in the areas I mentioned. If the game has been patched to accomodate Vista more effectively, that would be great. But if you read the notes from the producers, even THEY tell you about the Vista Issues.
Ahhh I believe you are referring to the problem where it would not use multiple cores in Vista unless you manually told it to or ran a script. Even the producers didn't notice that one at the start until people started using it.
Once that was done they removed the "not suitable for Vista users" from a couple of missions.
Running a script for that command is out of the bounds of my ability at this point. Maybe they'll patch it.
At any rate, it IS the best sim out there... bar none, and I printed the manual and put it in a 3-ring binder. I just got it, and it will obviously require a lot of time and study... but it's been a blast so far. Right now I just fly solo.
If you are running the patched version then it should be already working. You can check it by running the game and getting into a mission, not just the intro screen. Once in mission alt+tab out then press crt+alt+delete.
This will bring up task manager. click the processes tab and scroll down looking for dcs.exe I think. Right click on it and click "set affinity". It should have all the cores checked.
Also note the biggest bottle neck in the game is CPU. Not the gfx card.
Runs just fine on vista. Just don't install it under program files if you have UAC enabled. Actually works better on vista as it can use dual/quad core cpu's better on vista than on xp.

250 knots is WAY overspeed. In good condition you'll get the audio Vne warning around 305km/h. 250knots is 463km/h.
That helicopter uses proper units to measure speed. :P
At higher altitudes or other met conditions the Vne can creep down lower tho, sometimes as low as 180km/h IAS. (There's a placard on the left side of the cockpit.)
You're kidding right? This game is amazing, I've certainly blown up loads of stuff. But a game focusing about a gunship would certainly not be about destroying stuff.

hemm intresting how much detail the game actually went into instead of just giving us the same old tired going down in flames for unspecified reasons other than being struck with a projectile!

I can't tell you about windows 7, but I can definitely tell you that this is a SERIOUS simulation. I had to flip about 30 switches just to start it up. Be perpared to study. By far the BEST simulation on the market. I would check the DCS website and see if they are saying anything about windows 7 in their forums.

The juddering was caused by the rotors being no longer all the same length.
What happened was that I lost the starboard engine and was losing rotor speed (beep beep beep) but was pulling up on the collective to clear the road.
Dropping centripetal force and increased angle of attack brought the rotors together. The juddering in the cockpit is extreme and I was losing control so that is when I punched out.
As 41elliott said, "By far the BEST simulation on the market" and I agree.

couldnt you have dropped the collective (maximizing rotor seperation) and then pulled up, using a sort of autorotationish approach to clear the road?

If you're running windows Vista, DO NOT buy this sim. You've been warned. It runs well on XP, but Vista's processing protocol is not suitable for this.

That's interesting seeing as that video was taken using Fraps while playing on a Vista machine that is 2 years old. Seemed to do both fine as you can see.

I run the sim on Vista with an 8800 gtx. And it does ok as long as you're not in large battles involving huge amounts of enemy A.I. and multiple wingmen, none of which I see in your video (which by the way is very well done).
IGN made it clear in their review that vista users would be limited in the areas I mentioned. If the game has been patched to accomodate Vista more effectively, that would be great. But if you read the notes from the producers, even THEY tell you about the Vista Issues.

Ahhh I believe you are referring to the problem where it would not use multiple cores in Vista unless you manually told it to or ran a script. Even the producers didn't notice that one at the start until people started using it.
Once that was done they removed the "not suitable for Vista users" from a couple of missions.

Running a script for that command is out of the bounds of my ability at this point. Maybe they'll patch it.
At any rate, it IS the best sim out there... bar none, and I printed the manual and put it in a 3-ring binder. I just got it, and it will obviously require a lot of time and study... but it's been a blast so far. Right now I just fly solo.

If you are running the patched version then it should be already working. You can check it by running the game and getting into a mission, not just the intro screen. Once in mission alt+tab out then press crt+alt+delete.
This will bring up task manager. click the processes tab and scroll down looking for dcs.exe I think. Right click on it and click "set affinity". It should have all the cores checked.
Also note the biggest bottle neck in the game is CPU. Not the gfx card.

Runs just fine on vista. Just don't install it under program files if you have UAC enabled. Actually works better on vista as it can use dual/quad core cpu's better on vista than on xp.

the high pitched one is over-speed
the low pitched one is warning that the rotor pitch is so high the engine is having a little trouble and is not accelerating

250 knots is WAY overspeed. In good condition you'll get the audio Vne warning around 305km/h. 250knots is 463km/h.
That helicopter uses proper units to measure speed. :P
At higher altitudes or other met conditions the Vne can creep down lower tho, sometimes as low as 180km/h IAS. (There's a placard on the left side of the cockpit.)
