  • Great - just one word - completely spellbound. Each one of them has lots of grace from the Supreme lord. They showed great culture and humility on stage. The teachers must be equally praised, hope they only keep growing from here

  • Great! Hats off to their interest and effort

  • Salute them for their effort. though born and brought up in a entirely different culture way of living they have done fantastically. that too a tough kamalambika.HATS OFF!

  • Wonderful and mind blowing... Infact Indian Govt. and Cultural Associations should encourage and promote these artists for their tremendous effort.

  • Splendid performance of both vocal and supporting instrumental. Iam quite jealous of you folks :-) ..for the kind of diction, raga alapana and talam. Please post more!

  • An amazing performance by these American kids! From the alaapana to the end of the keerthana it was a wonderful experience. Shruthi, Laya and perfect Talam !! Congratulations to Ethnomusic Department of Wesleyan University. How long you are training these kids? Muthuswamy Diktshithar's "Kamalambike" in Sri Ragam is not an easy one to master. I heard it several times. Congratulations to Mr. Balu and Mr. David Nelson for taking pains to teach classical carnatic music to these dedicated kids !!

  • It is splendid performance and unbelievable. The sublime music has all the purity that is required of a masterpiece. Kudos to the singers and accomapanists.

  • This is quite.. the most amazing video I've ever seen! Congrats on the wonderful effort.

  • hey team

    wonderful.

This 'Sri" ragam is so melodius.

But more than the Raga, the song, layam ans shruthi,

look into the background of this song.

    what is Nava Avarna.

You people then will start a great new mystic and self realizing journey.

may the primordial Goddess lalitha Grace your efforts.

  • Good job!

  • all carnatic musicians should help them. this is the best way to take our carnatic music more step ahead. EXCELLENT GUYS . WE ARE HAPPY TO SEE YOU ALL AND WHATEVER DOUBTS YOU CAN CHECK WITH MR.KJ YESUDAS - GHANA GHANDRVAN LIVING IN THE USA.

  • Amazing!

  • totally stunned by their excellent rendering of shruthi and "hats off" to their hard work

  • I was quite moved by their performance. They sang not only in excellent shruti, but with bhava too. That is no small feat. To sing like this takes a great deal of practice. Even her alapana was good. As a Carnatic vocalist myself, I was quite stunned. They are indeed very fortunate to have such a good teacher, and the teacher is very fortunate to have a group of such dedicated students. Truly a magnificent performance. My congratulations to the entire group.

  • Amazing Alapana and of course superb mrdangam performance. Long live Karnatak music at Wesleyan University. It is so interesting that so few of those who have commented realize that Wesleyan's program in Karnatak music has been going on for over 35 years. This level of performance is not new, although this is one of the best I have heard from Wesleyan Students. Congratulations to B. Balasubrahmaniyan and David Nelson!

  • r u serius LOL

  • i want to listen to their interviews...how they got hooked to carnatic music, their perspective in general! i am very curious ..

  • great job - all the best

  • Obviously this is an extraordinary effort. I would be very curious what motivated/inspired this group to invest so much of their effort and time in to learning this music. Needless to say every individual is extremely talented.

  • Amazing indeed!

Hats off to the participants and all my respects to the great teacher who took all the pains in teaching this composition.

  • Incredible performance by non-indian students. Great command over pronunciation along with techniques of carnatic music. Westerners ability of doing things from their heart is highly exemplifies here. Accolades to Mr. Balu for shaping them up on all fronts including in Carnatic Music

    As well as indian ppl!!

  • Excellent! Great conviction, great rendition!

  • I am a person of Indian origin but embraced American citizenship and live in Texas with my family following all South Indian traditions and culture. I am truly amazed at the high level of learnig achieved by the Americans not belonging to Indian culture. I am so proud to be an American. Like President-elect Obama said, "we can". Congratulations.
