i have this very bugging problem with my videocam lens. it's easy to clean the dirt from the outside surface of the lens, what if it's on the inside? first i thought my lens was broken, by close inspection, the culprit is a fine cloth thread that when reflected in the light, looks like a crack in the lens. i can't find a professional video camera technician in our place, and i am afraid to open the camera for fear it might cause any irrepairable damage. hope somebody could help me. thanks.
Instead of using lens tissue, you can use spec cloth or microfiber cloth. A 100% cotton cloth is also good. A perfect clean T-shirt is OK
A good alternative is a lenspen. Simple, quick and easy to use. I still prefer the traditional method but in field condition, a lens pen is better.
About sticking a UV filter on your lens. Well, what's the point of putting a 20 bucks filter on your thousand bucks lens. Some filter may reduce your image quality so make sure you get a good one.

I would disagree with toching the lense with a dry tissue. I always use cleaner solutin on the tissue.

is it ok to use cotton?
rizkibalki 3 years ago
normally, no because cotton materials(shirts, cotton balls etc) release fibers that just get in the way and dirty the lens

Generally, NO!
Instead of using lens tissue, you can use spec cloth or microfiber cloth. A 100% cotton cloth is also good. A perfect clean T-shirt is OK

never, never, never use a dry lens tissue on a dry lens. KN1V35X is correct in this case.
ollem2 3 years ago
