My dachshund is like that--thinks he's really brave but gets spooked by small unfamiliar critters, even a wounded bird once. He also scares himself when he sticks his head into an empty cracker box for the crumbs--when he withdraws his head, the box flaps move, and it freaks him out.

i did that with my four dachshunds before with a big 3 lb lobster?, the poor lobster didn't have a chance :( they took off with it and ripped it to peices,then ate it, doxies are fearless and have a verious appatite!!well they had a nice lobster meal:)
