Music that usually makes heavy use of synths and other electronic equipment. Personally I think that the attitude of the music is aggresive but in a controlled way. Kind of like i'll kick your ass but with a smile on my face.

Industrial is more experimental, doesn't always have guitars, and has a more mechanical sound. Metal is just heavy guitars, aggressive vocals, and long hair.
