My step-daddy had the pleasure & good fortune of transporting Ms. Harris in his (slightly messy) car to her hotel when she did a show on St. Simons Island, Georgia. He said she was just the sweetest thing, and he talked about that experience for many years to come. :)
Love this track. JLL is a genius, perfect vocal phrasing plus stunning piano. The fact that he rarely does each number the same earns great credit to Emmylou for making this a great combination.
@jamcrane3 Who wouldn't ? But for me it's not a sexual thing. I just simply LOVE her and have been blessed to be on earth at the same time as this angel.
That's a good duet - he should play more with Emmy Lou - they really harmonize very, very well!! His agent or Phoebe should try to arrange that he do more country. I absolutely love "Mean Old MAN". i BOUGHT HIS DELUXE EDITION AND PLAY IT ALMOST EVERY DAY. Jerry and Eric Clapton and James Burton did one of the very best songs "You Can Have Her". Actually all of the CD is much better. Jerry put his heart into this album. His gospel songs were really right on the mark.
This video should be titled the devil and an angel duet.... I appreciate his talent but I can't look at him and forget about the murdered wives and horrible temper....
Brilliant Ray Price song and its a good add, but I'm not sure the song works here. Sadly they dont look too happy together and the only time either one seems prepared to acknowledges the other is when they forget their way slightly. Love em both though, and the song.

A match made in music heaven: Jerry Lee & Emmylou! Sheer musical magic to listen to! And one of my favorite country songs of all time. Doesn't get much better than this. THANK YOU so much for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" for us to enjoy! :)
Jerry Leeds must be one of the hardest people on Earth to duet with.
How do you pick your harmony with a man who never sings a song the same way twice?
The only time he looks at her is the discouraging glance at 1.45. There's not much room left for anyone else once the Killer and his ego take the stage!
My Mom was a great Gilley fan, I once told her I wished I had half of Jerry's piano talent and when she asked me why I told her to just see whar Mickey had done woth a fourth.
Jerry Lee's voice is dominant on this video. I'm thinking that was done on purpose to satisfy his ego..And that's a shame, because Emmylou has,In my opinion, one of the greatest voices i music, in any genre..... But one had to listen very attentively to hear her.... Too Bad
Hi I disagree. Emmylou is one of the best harmonizers in the history of pop music and, despite the fact she's drunker than a skunk here and forgets the words, they sound incredible together. Nothing beats plain ol' raw talent.
I think all of these guys leveled the playing field for each other. The most talent in music history came from these people and the set the bar absurdly high. There wasn't a time in music before or after that could even hold a candle to the way these people performed and when they performed they gave it there all. These guys were the best! Name one other person who could even play anything near to Jerry Lee, Mickey Gilley and Jimmy Swaggert, who we're all cousins. They all play the same way
don't think they play the same.Jerry Lee did it all w/out knowing a note.see IMUS interview, Elvis is GREAT but couldn't play and didn't write music. listen to Jerry Lee, he says all from Jerry Lee, Elvis Hank Williams and? see interview w IMUS he couldn't understand why Elvis was sitting at the piano-& Emmy Lou is with Mark Knophler -Dire Straights their album is GREAT I try to play Jerry Lee, tear my thumb and he can't write it or read it, all just from his head..
Actually, Elvis could play a pretty mean rockabilly/boogie woogie piano. The photo of Jerry Lee, Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins at the piano was the cover photo for the Million Dollar Quartet album. Most of the track on that have Elvis on piano. Take a listen! He's very good.
Crazy Arms was the first Jerry Lee Lewis single - backed by End Of The Road which Jerry wrote - released by Sun Records in 1956. It was also the first Jerry Lee tape heard by Sam Phillips. Although neither song charted, it launched Jerry Lee's career. If you listen to all of his early songs, you'll see how much he influenced the music that followed - both rock and country. When will he get the recognition he deserves?
this is a song Emmylou sang many times with her duet partner Gram parsons back in early seventies. She is really enjoying singing it with the legend Jerry Lee.I think that smile on her face is pretty genuine and hardly illegal as another suggested.two very gifted singers on a great song.
I love the way they do this. Emmylou looks like she's really having fun and Jerry Lee is so sweet the way he looks up at her. I'd love to see them do it again today!
Great cover of the classic Ray Price song! Btw, do you ELH fans know that she did most of the backup vocals on Dylan's 'Desire' album, mostly unnamed?
jerry lee helped to change the world of music.he may not be happy with being second to elvis, but he sure has made his place in the world of music.country, pop, rock, and maybe jazz, not many people make such an impression on the world as jerry lee.his music is so heart felt, even soulful it's a natrual talent.his music seems to just flow from his soul.i only wish i would have seen him when he was younger.his place in music is among the top five and that is as good as you could ask for.thanks jerrylee
Love them :}

The reason he looks at her is that she screwed up.
The reason his voice seems to overpower is the sound quality of the video. The high frequencies are missing.

A lot of people would disagree that Mr Lewis is second to Elvis and say that Elvis is second to the Killer.
Ms Harris is a good singer but she looked a little intimitated, but who wouldn't ? singing with the master of country and rock n roll.
