  • Mitofik: I've considered it, but it's also hard to get the computer to ID each individual IR light.

    Ezunit1991: It's call MapTool

  • what program aru u using? that program would make dming so much better

  • now you need to craft IR figs - make a hole big enough to put small diode and battery inside (preferably with some switch/button on the outside to turn it on/off) which would be damn hard to do ;) or put each figure on custom made stand. other option is to simply glue it to the fig but that wouldn't look neat.. a halfling rogue with an IR backpack:P

its a pity wiimote can track only 4 points simultaneously..

  • Holy shit man.... That is awesome. Shawnee told me about it, but I didn't think it would be that computer integrated. How much?

  • Awesome!!!

I used to run a D&D game with a top down projector system. That was about 2 years ago. I got diverted to other things, mainly getting ready for what looks like a second great depression headed our way. Now that I'm ready though I dug out all my D&D stuff, fired up the old projector and since I saw this video, I bought a wimote kit and hooked it up. My first game is Saturday. Should be fun. Thanks for this video. I wouldn't have even heard of the wimote without it.

  • Incredible Projector, do you have information on how to intergrate the Wii-mote? I currently am using maptool with a projector and looking to incorporate the LoS and lighting effects from Maptool

  • @squallgoku Hey! All I did was get Johnny Chan's wiimote whiteboard app. A bluetooth adapter and hooked it up. Nothing really fancy.

  • LoL to Mountain Dew dude from the original 8-bit reference!

  • You should sell the idea to wizards of the coast. You could make a lot of money.

  • incredible!

  • can you do a tutorial series on how to do this? PRETTY PLEASE!!!

  • word

  • Your table looks much better than mine, and I love the fact that each player has their own sectioned area. Also mine is over head so I have a few other issues.

I also use maptools and the wii, ir trick.

Damn it, I feel like rebuilding my setup... heh.

    Nice work!

  • Really fucking awesome dude! I want to get into DnD but I have no idea where to start, nor do I know anyone that plays... What does a poor soul like myself do?

  • Get better friends :p

  • type into goggle your city name then d&d meetup

  • Wow I have seen this somewhere before...what was it? hmm...ou yeah...in a normal pc game!

  • hahaha lol :D i never understood the appeal personally but then whatever alot of people do have fun with this and arent hurting anyone.

nice table have fun using it.

ill stick to my d&d computergames......at most not really big on games these days :(

  • you are right...

I preffer the "Role Play" part of the "RPG", but anyhow this guys had a good job with the tech!

  • Can you play D&D online anywhere, I've never played I'd like to know how.

  • The new D&D Insider thing (costs a subscription) will allow you to play the table top game online with anyone you want.

  • Jolly good!

You need to patent this and take this to a developer/company. You could make mad bank with this as well as help the DND community in general.

Although, i think you need to make a catchy name for it....

    "THE SPELLTABLE!" or something. :-D

You realize how many DnD players will praise you for this?

Also suggest maybe letting microsoft into the idea for their Natal project coming up...it's a good setup anywho.

  • Hello, I'm too stupid to take the 3 seconds to read your video info so can you tell me where you got this table? /sarcasm

  • I built it myself.

  • impressive..would you ever concider building one for sale?

  • TyrenDes one how much did this cost

two were did you get it

and three how long did it take to set every thing up?

  • 2 first... I built it

1, all the parts were abotu $1000, but I could do it cheaper now

3 We did it over a few weeks, during our free time. (My blog has more details...)

  • Damn, thats pretty fricken awesome. Seeing this video brings up all kinds of possibilities for tabletop RPG's in my mind.....imagine playing D&D on a multi user touch screen table top, kinda like the commercial for the video game Ruse, with fully animated character avatars, monsters and npcs....even full digital character sheets and dice...I could go on and on, you just brought all us geeks one step closer to NerDvana. Excellent job guys!

  • wow. enough said.

  • Thank you everyone for your great comments and support! Now if only I could get Wil Wheaton or Felicia Day to comment! =]

  • Behold, the Holy Grail of geekdom...

  • FUCK! i would play D&D if i had this shit. nice job man!

  • LOL...WotC spends tons trying to develop this shit and a couple geeks in a basement with Wii, a laptop and a couple pointers get it right.

  • seriously awesome

  • fuking amazing

  • This was incredible!! I pretty much watched it twice.. haha you know in case I missed something ;) Loved it!

  • Wow!

  • Awsome.

  • inspiring.

  • As I said on the forum, that is incredible.
